Mad God — Main Text: Setting
On the Jin Yuan Continent, many races live together. Among them, the Humans, Demon Race, and Beastmen Race are the most powerful. There are also the Dwarves, who excel at metallurgy, the Elves, who specialize in archery, and the Dragons, whose numbers are extremely rare. In order to compete for more land and resources, warfare has continued for hundreds of years without interruption. At the beginning, Humans were at an absolute disadvantage and were nearly exterminated several times. However, relying on their superior intelligence and rapid reproduction, they gradually turned the situation around and even pushed the Demon Race and Beastmen Race to the brink of danger. In order to resist the Humans, the Demon Race and Beastmen Race formed an alliance, which finally restored a balance of power.
Across the continent, three primary professions exist. Martial Skills are the most popular, because the entry threshold is relatively low and almost anyone can practice them. Advancement depends closely on comprehension and diligent cultivation. The second is the Mage profession, which is also quite popular, but it requires mental strength stronger than that of ordinary people in order to study it. The last is the combination of the two—the Magic Warrior. Because they must cultivate both magic and martial skills, it is difficult for Magic Warriors to raise either discipline to a very high level. However, the mutual support between magic and martial skills allows this profession to survive.
Humans: They claim to be the descendants of gods. Although their physical condition is weak, they possess high intelligence and excellent learning ability. The strongest force of humanity is the Dragon Knights formed when high-level human warriors sign contracts with dragons. Only those who reach the rank of Bright Knight can gain the recognition of a dragon. The human nation is the Dragon God Empire. It possesses no more than one hundred Dragon Knights. Among them, there are only three Dragon Generals, who are the strongest pillars of the Dragon God Empire and are known as the Empire’s Three Great Marshals. Whether Dragon Knights or Dragon Generals, they possess power capable of destroying heaven and earth. They have achieved brilliant victories in battles against the Demon Race and Beastmen Race and are humanity’s absolute trump card force. The Dragon God Empire maintains a total of 1.3 million regular troops and more than 1 million reserve soldiers.
Demon Race: They revere the power of freedom. In appearance they look very similar to Humans, but they possess stronger and more resilient bodies. High-level demons also possess intelligence equal to that of humans. The Demon Race’s trump card army is the Fallen Angel Legion, composed entirely of royal demons. They can transform into Fallen Angels. Although their power is weaker than that of Dragon Knights, their formidable dark magic compensates for this weakness to a certain extent. However, their numbers are extremely limited. In the entire Demon Race, fewer than thirty royals can perform Fallen Angel transformation. Among them, only two can transform into Four-Winged Fallen Angels—the Demon Emperor and the captain of his imperial guards. The rest are Two-Winged Fallen Angels. They possess 400,000 regular troops and 200,000 reserves.
Beastmen Race: They worship absolute strength. Only overwhelming power can earn the recognition of the Beastmen. Beastmen bodies are the most resilient, but their intelligence is very low. The lowest-level Beastmen possess almost no intelligence at all, and only a few high-level Beastmen can match the intelligence of Humans and the Demon Race. The Beastmen Race’s absolute main force is the Behemoth Legion. Behemoths are over four meters tall and possess overwhelmingly powerful bodies. Low-intensity attacks are basically ineffective against them. In terms of absolute strength, they are inferior to the Demon Race’s Fallen Angels and the Humans’ Dragon Knights, but they make up for this with numbers, usually maintaining around 2,500 members. Only the Behemoth King can rival the power of a Four-Winged Fallen Angel or a Dragon General. The Beastmen Race possesses 800,000 regular troops and 1 million reserves. (Beastmen are born warriors and are capable of mobilizing their entire population for battle. This is also the foundation that allows them to stand alongside Humans and the Demon Race.)
Although wars between the three great races continue without interruption, trade is still carried out because each race needs resources possessed by the others. They use a common currency:
1 Gold Coin = 10 Silver Coins = 100 Copper Coins.
