Chapter Title: Galactic Conquest
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The game I loved playing was a strategy simulation set in the space age.
You'd set your species and nation, starting from a single star system. From there, you'd interact with other species. There was no fixed ending—the goal was to prosper your nation through whatever means you chose.
Playing this game, a certain thought naturally creeps in.
The universe is vast, teeming with countless species. But coexist peacefully with these hideous lifeforms? Let these slugs and mushroom-headed freaks immigrate to my planet?
Naturally, my nation's path turned into a massive war that decided the fate of countless states and species.
The AIs, bolstered by the system's tweaks, showed astonishing growth rates.
But with the galaxy's greatest genius—mocked even by the gods—themselves present, they had no choice but to kneel before me. Assuming those repulsive xenos even had knees.
The mushroom folk? I gene-modded them into food stock. Shiitake mushrooms smell great when grilled, so I'm sure those things would too. Of course, I've never sniffed one myself, so who knows the actual flavor.
The slugs? Ground them all up for biotech research. They made a huge contribution to developing tech that would cleanse this universe. I'm sure the slugs themselves went to their deaths feeling proud.
After conquering the entire galaxy and wrapping up the game, I started a new one—and near my species' home system, I found "Earth."
When I played as humans, it was the galactic empire's capital, their species' birthplace, the most advanced planet in the universe—the holy site of the stars.
Unfortunately, this run's species was a predator race with zero ties to humans. Which meant Earth was just another conquest target.
Plus, this game's Earth hadn't even reached interstellar travel. It was stuck in the primitive atomic age.
Perfect organic material for my early-game boom. I had to occupy it fast before some rival snatched it up.
So I ordered my predator fleet to bombard Earth. The massive space monsters settled into its atmosphere, and just as the shelling began—
Pew—
BOOM!!
Something blew my room to hell, and I blacked out.
