Infinite Field Battle (3)
“Hey! Move your asses! Don’t fuck around or we’ll lose him again!”
“If you yell that loud while chasing him, you think Sandro’s just gonna stick around?”
“Dude, seriously, how the hell do we even catch that bastard? Fuck, that thieving prick’s got such overpowered specs it’s total bullshit. We’ve been chasing shadows all day—what the fuck are we even doing?”
“Still, nothing’s unkillable in the end. Our guild master, Hellfire—they all die eventually, right? Sandro’s just good at running, but surround him and he drops in seconds!”
Unaware that I was strolling right in front of their eyes, the tank line ahead kept yapping nonstop. Made sense—they’d been tailing my ass for over four hours straight. Without some chit-chat to kill time, it’d be boring as hell.
The enemy force numbered around 100 to 110. An hour ago at peak, it’d been over 200, but the constant wild goose chases had whittled them down. Still a ridiculous number just to hunt one guy…
But if things went according to plan, today I’d etch a legend: one against a hundred.
This way veers off from the trap zone I set. Time to step up.
The spot where I’d laid 20 Smoke Screen traps over three hype minutes of prep was 200 meters ahead. The lead tanks were heading right for it, then veered slightly toward another swampy area. No biggie. No hunter expects prey to stumble into traps on their own!
I’d planned to play bait from the jump, luring them in. Quick footwork, Weak Point Detection… I held position until the tank line passed, then dropped stealth as the paper-pushovers followed, stacking my self-buffs.
Consecutive Slashes!
First targets: the archers. My buffed basic attacks hit like a truck—way too much for squishy DPS to handle. Mages would’ve been fine too, but their blinks were annoying, and with my boosted magic resist, they weren’t a threat anyway. No rush there.
“Argh! It’s Sandro!”
“Shield up!”
“Heal!”
Each hit packed such a punch that without predictive heals, they had no time to react even if they cast. Archers dropped like flies. No time to watch them despawn—I slashed at the next one nearby.
8-star Weak Point Detection’s active lasted 5 seconds. Guaranteed 150% crits anywhere but the back—enough to bag two archers in that window.
Of course, in those few seconds, Taeseong guildies spotted the ambush and unloaded.
Resisted Wind Cutter magic.
Mana Shield absorbs 124 magic damage.
Mana Shield absorbs 1,553 physical damage.
…………
Ping, ting, ping! Shadow Step flung me behind a dozen rogues’ barrage, draining my Mana Shield. I refilled MP with a spinning slash while backpedaling, then Shadow Stepped to a retreating archer.
Stealthy Strike!
Thief’s rare active DPS skill: Stealthy Strike. Back-only cast was a pain, but 200% bonus made it a nuke. Sure enough, it plus two basics retired that archer.
Last one down, I scaled a nearby tree vertically. Thud-thud-thud! Arrows thunked into the trunk as I climbed.
“He’s bolting! Get him!”
“His buffs are gone! Divine sword or not, no skills means jack shit!”
Heh, you think so?
They chased like idiots as I tree-hopped. Lured ‘em right into the trap: this misty death fog!
Boom! Someone triggered a Smoke Screen. I’d placed them high on hard-to-hit trunks, but with that mob, unavoidable.
“Smoke Screen trap!”
“Perception!”
“Air Bomb!”
Perception or Air Bomb didn’t dispel it—just let you see or push it. Useless in a full shroud.
Whoosh, boom! I hurled daggers with Weapon Throw, detonating every trap.
“Wh-what? This a Smoke Screen?”
“No way! Never seen shit like this!”
8-star Trap Installation’s majesty: 20m radius per trap turned 100m around into a white death haze.
Titan summon? Overkill for 100 scrubs. This was my world now.
“Air B—argh!”
“Hey! I said quit the Air Bombs!”
Cooldowns reset, I rebuffed and targeted mages first. Air Bomb scattered smoke best—prioritize those casters to prolong the slaughterhouse.
Ting, thud! Some Mana Shielded, but my dual sapphire rings stole 6% attack as mana—extra hits on shields. They shattered instantly; paper bodies folded.
Mana Shield absorbs 1,220 physical damage.
Mana Shield resists status 'Knockback'.
Ting!
Charged knights spotted my blur, but Mana Shield bounced ‘em.
“Tanks, hang tight—I’ll get to you last!”
Constant Perception pierced my own smoke. Taeseong’s non-Perception tanks and DPS flailed blindly—this scale of haze was new to them.
Three, four, five! I carved through, thinning the herd.
“St-stick together! He’s cherry-picking the squishies!”
“Yeah, group up!”
Oh, please do—makes it easier for me.
Air Bombs cleared pockets; panicking guildies clustered there. Stragglers? Easy pickings.
“Argh! His DPS is insane!”
“Here! Sandro’s over here!”
Even with a Unique sword, thieves shredded mages/healers up close. With Rune Paytona? Obliteration.
After a short eternity of a minute, smoke cleared, revealing the field. On the wide swamp clearing, ~70 Taeseong survivors formed up. Shockingly, no other survivors— I’d solo’d 30 in 60 seconds. Saw a couple flee the woods, but still.
“No fucking way!”
“How? Isn’t Sandro just Titan-carrying?”
“Crazy… How do you even kill that?”
From 50m away, their laments reached me.
“Not too late! Quit Taeseong now if you don’t wanna keep dying—till Tayen ends, I ain’t going down for you clowns!”
“Shut your arrogant ass up! Think you’ll stay cocky? More Divines drop, and you’re back to scrub days!”
“You guys just don’t get it. We’ll see later if I keep this up—but wanna test today? Let’s go!”
With that taunt, I rebuffed and charged their formation. Or pretended—halted at 10m.
Whoosh! Predictably, ~10 rogues Shadow Stepped behind me again.
MP draining fast. But that was the play.
“Summon Ferari!”
My fire drake burst in, blasting Wing Gust on command. All 10 rogues knocked back clean.
Spinning Slash into wide multi-hit basics mowed ‘em. Boom! Fireball Breath followed—boss-grade DPS even tamed. Thief HP couldn’t tank it plus my full-buff basics.
Sizzle… Assassins vaporized in 1-2 seconds.
Tanks charged hyped; I mounted Ferari and flew up instead.
“He’s flying?!”
“What bullshit! Plenty left to eat!”
Faked ascent, leaped over tanks, Shadow Stepped to rear archer from Ferari.
Back Step!
Archer dodged with evasion move—but pre-aimed Magic Missile stunned him mid-backstep.
Thud-thud-thud! Stuck, I closed and deleted him, slashing any visible fool nearby.
“Raaagh! Gang him!!”
“Pile on! No one survives a dogpile!!”
One down, two swarmed; two down, four encircled. Arrows missed my speed; single-target spells resisted my magic def. But tank/DPS numbers wore my MP fast.
At half MP, post-300 unique skill time.
Shadow Clone!
├─ Mana Cost:600
├─ Cooldown:300 sec
└─ Effect:Creates a shadow clone identical to you (auto-despawns after 10 sec). Clone has your HP but takes 4x damage. Deals 20% of your attack power. Grants brief invulnerability on cast; removes all buffs/debuffs. ★
“Wh-what?! He learned Shadow Clone?!”
“Burst it down quick—spam anything!”
Flaws over pros made it trash-tier for thieves—no one took it. But buffs-dispel and weak DPS mattered less than the chaos for me. Invested just enough for 5 stars (2 points)—low profile.
Glad I did; real combat proved it. Split body confused targeting; incoming DPS plummeted.
Faked clone-mimic basics on a warrior to suck MP, rebuffed, Shadow Stepped to rear healer.
“Th-that’s the real one!”
Panicked healer self-healed frozen—dropped. MP skyrocketed.
Consecutive Slashes, Stealthy Strike, Spinning Slash! Instants refilled MP. Superior mana pots on cooldown amplified it.
Zero confidence, huh? Scared to die!
Three minutes in: only tanks left. All DPS/archers/mages/healers wiped.
“This is bugged or hacked—how else does one beat a hundred?!”
“Fuck it! Wipe’s a wipe! No match anyway—don’t die pointlessly, bail!”
One fleeing tank sparked the rout—others scattered with dashes.
Fastest thief among thieves? I could chase. But nah.
No need to bag you scrubs and miss bigger fish.
Most respawned at Bernstein Castle—guild bind point. Revival debuff: 10 min, 80% stat/speed nerf. They’d chat waiting it out.
Knew that? Why waste the honey pot? Especially near safe Aver Village.
Scooped drops, popped Return Scroll to Bernstein outer village.
