Who's the One Without Sense?
‘Was Ahn Humin Hunter not a close-combat dealer?’
Kwon Si-young had naturally assumed that after watching the previous video of Ahn Humin beating up Lee Dong-hoon. She’d been certain he was a hunter who specialized in melee combat.
But that wasn’t the case.
The number of summons appearing before her eyes right now was easily three times more than what the S-class puppet master of Team A, Cheon So-yeon, could control.
“Goblin assassins and poison dart soldiers, go find where the children are being held. The rest of you, follow me.”
With a sharp kick, the poison dart soldiers—who specialized in reconnaissance—scattered along with the assassins escorting them. Ahn Humin then led the remaining minions with Kwon Si-young toward the central building.
“You’re going straight for the main base?”
“Yes. While the goblins search for the kids, we’ll draw some attention too. They’re probably watching this whole situation anyway. Look, here they come.”
A large group of people was rushing out from the central building across the way.
There were well over a hundred of them—far too many for simple security—and they were armed with a wide variety of weapons. Several even carried firearms.
“This son of a bitch—does he even know where he is? Hey. Light him up.”
At the bald man’s command, the subordinates with guns pulled their triggers without the slightest hesitation.
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat…!
“Watch out! …Huh?”
The moment the gun barrels swung toward them, Kwon Si-young had started to warn Ahn Humin to be careful—only to stand there with her mouth agape at the absurd scene that followed.
The monsters from the sewers had already stepped forward and were taking every single bullet in his place.
What was even more ridiculous was that the sewer monsters didn’t seem bothered in the slightest despite being hit by a hail of gunfire.
Normally, even monsters from below the 40th floor of the Tower took damage from bullets. Yet these creatures from the 20th floor were completely unfazed.
“I was surprised when I saw them casually using guns in Thailand, but this place is no different. Is it easy to get firearms in our country too?”
“Well… it’s still difficult for ordinary civilians to purchase them, but I understand that gun trading is quite active among the clans. Of course, the Bureau cracks down on it strictly, but it’s not easy to stop…”
“So what you’re saying is that it might not be long before even regular people can easily get their hands on guns.”
“I’m sorry…”
Kwon Si-young apologized to Ahn Humin. His words sounded like he was criticizing the Bureau’s shortcomings, and as a Bureau employee, she felt a sense of responsibility.
“No, I wasn’t blaming you, Secretary. I was just realizing there are far too many people in this world who shouldn’t be left alone.”
As Ahn Humin resumed walking, Goblius—who had been guarding his front—shouted in a booming voice.
Clear them out. Do not kill them under any circumstances.
‘So Goblius really is speaking Korean…’
She had found it fascinating when she saw the video from the mineral spring, but seeing it in person was on another level.
However, Kwon Si-young no longer had the luxury of paying attention to Goblius.
“They’re coming!”
“Kill them all!”
As the minions charged forward, the Black Snake Clan villains gripped their main weapons and rushed to meet them, activating their skills.
“Iron Wall Spirit!”
“Flare Slash!”
“Triple Arrow!”
“Buster Strike!”
Villains were awakened individuals too. Climbing the Tower was essential if they wanted to raise their levels and grow stronger.
Of course, since they were villains, entering the Tower through normal channels was impossible.
Most used fake IDs purchased from clans or the black market. Some spent a bit more and went through foreign brokers to access the Towers of the Three Countries.
The important point was that these villains were just as experienced at hunting monsters as regular hunters.
The average rank and level of the villains here was around B-class, level 41.
To them, 10th-floor and 20th-floor monsters were nothing to fear.
At least until the battle actually began.
“Gaaaah!!”
“Kuhk…!”
“W-what the hell? How are these goblins so fast?!”
“My leg! Aaaargh!!”
It didn’t take them long to realize that they weren’t the hunters—they were the prey.
“W-what the… what the hell is this?”
The bald, tattooed man who seemed to be the leader of the group broke out in a cold sweat and unconsciously staggered backward.
The gap in power was like that between adults and children. Only his comrades were falling. The monsters tore through them without sustaining a single injury.
“Uwaaaaaah!!”
Finally unable to overcome his fear, the bald man turned to run. A single ratman easily chased him down and sank its teeth into his leg.
Crunch!
“Aaaaagh!!”
A scream so raw it seemed like it would tear his throat apart. In reality, his leg had been ripped off by the ratman’s jaws.
Ahn Humin calmly walked through the miserably broken villains, and Kwon Si-young followed behind him, trying to steady her trembling heart.
Having realized the severity of the situation, the Black Snake Clan sent out even more troops. It was no exaggeration to say they had gathered virtually every fighter left in the clan’s hideout.
But it was useless.
To the clan members’ eyes, Ahn Humin’s minions were nothing short of demons. Grim reapers. Gods of death.
The more they fought, the more they felt only an overwhelming difference in power and sheer strength.
A villain who had risen to a semi-executive position in the Black Snake Clan through swordsmanship couldn’t withstand a goblin swordsman’s strike and lost an arm.
Groups notorious even among other clans for their coordinated combat were helplessly torn apart—limbs ripped off by the mercilessly charging ratmen and tyrant rats.
In the meantime, the poison dart soldiers and assassins who had completed their mission returned.
They had perfectly located the warehouse where the children were imprisoned and reported every detail to their master.
“Good. I understand. Split up and take some of the minions with you to protect the children. We can’t let these cornered bastards take the kids hostage and do something stupid.”
With another sharp kick, the poison dart soldiers and assassins divided the minions and headed toward the place where the children were confined.
Since all the forces had been drawn here, only a minimal number of guards would remain at the warehouse. Rescuing and protecting the children shouldn’t be difficult.
The only problem was that Ahn Humin and Goblius would now have to face this massive force by themselves?
However…
“Goblius. I leave the secretary in your care.”
I shall obey your command.
“……!”
At that moment, Kwon Si-young saw it. A faint smile had formed on Ahn Humin’s lips as he walked forward toward the swarm of clan members rushing at him like a swarm of hornets.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking, but the summoner just pulled back his summons! This might be our only chance to kill that bastard! Put your lives on the line!!”
Driven mad by their comrades’ deaths and the terror of dying themselves, the clan members charged at Ahn Humin like frenzied wild beasts, radiating pure bloodlust.
In response, Ahn Humin gave a meaningful smile and said,
“Perfect. I was just thinking I wanted to test out the new skills I learned. Do me a favor and hold out as long as you can.”
He raised his hand, designated his targets, and recited the activation phrase.
“Eris’s Mockery.”
Eris's Mockery Lv.4
Type: Soul / Curse / Holy
Effect: The Goddess of Discord, Eris, bestows a curse upon enemies within a certain range. Those afflicted with the curse will feel intense hostility and distrust toward their own allies.
Nyx’s daughter and the goddess famous for sowing discord—Eris. The enemies affected by her mockery were now in complete chaos.
The enemy was clearly the intruder right in front of them, yet for some reason they couldn’t suppress the boiling murderous intent and distrust they felt toward the comrades standing beside them.
Without knowing why or how, the moment their eyes accidentally met those of the person next to them—
Clang! Clang! Boom! Crack! Thud!
No one started it. There was no reason.
They were simply gripped by the terror that they would die if they didn’t kill the person who had been their comrade just moments ago, and so they attacked with desperate fury.
Meanwhile, Kwon Si-young, who was watching the scene from the side, could only feel utter disbelief and absurdity.
“Th-they suddenly started fighting among themselves? Is this also because of the skill Hunter-nim just used?”
“Yes. Though it’s a shame. I had so many other skills I wanted to test out…”
Ahn Humin genuinely looked disappointed, and Kwon Si-young was so stunned she couldn’t even speak.
It was already an incredible feat to make dozens of villains turn on each other and fight with a single skill.
Yet here he was, sincerely regretting that he couldn’t test out his other skills.
‘Don’t tell me there are even more ridiculous skills like this?’
Ahn Humin stopped the skill before the villains could completely slaughter one another. Leaving the annihilated clan members behind, he stepped into the building.
The moment he set foot in the lobby—
Clang!
A sharp flash of light burst from the darkness, striking near Ahn Humin’s neck and sending sparks flying.
“Tsk…!”
Im Hyung-gi, whose ambush had failed, quickly retreated in an attempt to hide back in the shadows.
But—
Slither… Swish!
“W-what the—?!”
Suddenly, a translucent tentacle-like appendage shot out from near the intruder’s neck at terrifying speed, wrapping around his body in an instant and binding him completely.
Master. What should I do with this rat bastard?
“Break all his joints and toss him aside.”
Loyalty!
Crack… crunch…!
“Gaaaaaaaaaah!!”
A horrific scream erupted from Im Hyung-gi’s mouth as the chimera slime faithfully carried out its master’s order, twisting every joint in his body in the opposite direction.
Ahn Humin pointed at the collapsed Im Hyung-gi and asked Kwon Si-young,
“Is this the guy? The so-called representative?”
“No. The representative of the Black Snake Clan is an SS-class assassin formerly from the Taebaek Guild. I believe her name is Yoon Yoon-joo, a female villain.”
“Is that so? Slim.”
⊳ A heat signature presumed to be a human female is attempting to escape through the underground parking lot right now.
“Where?”
Slim immediately projected a translucent map of the underground parking structure in front of its master’s eyes and marked the target with a flashing light.
“I’ll go on ahead. Take your time and come with Goblius.”
“Ah, yes! Please be careful!”
With a single leap, Ahn Humin vanished from sight in an instant. Still reeling from shock, Kwon Si-young turned to Goblius and asked,
“J-just what is his true identity…? That man…”
A single vehicle smoothly rounded the corner and moved to exit the underground parking lot.
The moment the car approached the parking entrance, an unfamiliar man suddenly appeared and blocked its path.
It was the very uninvited guest she had seen on the CCTV.
Vrooooom!!
The woman confirmed it was Ahn Humin, then instead of slowing down, she slammed the accelerator to the floor and sent the car hurtling straight at him.
As the vehicle accelerated and charged forward in the blink of an eye, Ahn Humin quietly drew the Black-and-White Spiral Sword from his inventory…
Flash!
A single streak of lightning-like light fell, and the car was sliced cleanly in half.
Boom!!
The vehicle split left and right, tumbled violently, and slammed into the parking lot wall before exploding with a deafening roar.
“I thought you were a summoner, but it looks like you can use a sword pretty well, darling.”
The woman who had been in the driver’s seat had somehow already escaped. She now stood about ten meters away from Ahn Humin and spoke to him.
“You have more tricks up your sleeve than I expected.”
“Oh? Then it seems my darling is the type with many talents but no sense at all.”
Ting.
While she spoke, the tip of the woman’s left index finger flicked something ever so slightly.
In that instant—
Spit. Rumble rumble rumble…!!
It looked as if a single cutting line had been drawn right in front of the woman’s eyes.
Everything along the diagonal cutting line centered on Ahn Humin’s waist—pillars, walls, ceiling, floor—was sliced cleanly and collapsed with a thunderous crash.
“If you had even the slightest bit of sense, you would have realized I wasn’t running away—I was simply avoiding an annoying fly like you. Well, once you’re dead, such advice won’t do you any good anyway.”
“I think the one without any sense is you, not me?”
“……?!”
It was then.
The calm voice of the man she had assumed was already dead pierced her eardrums.
They kicked him out of the guild without knowing he was EX-class.
