Chapter 108: An Uninvited Guest in the Villa
Evening.
I returned to the dormitory carrying the spoils of a nearly full day of shopping.
Not only were my hands full, but my left leg now sported a new black leather leg ring.
This was part of a black, midriff-baring tight-fit outfit Sister Bai had picked out for me. It came with a pair of super-short shorts and this leg ring—one of the few outfits I owned that wasn't a skirt.
Sister Bai chose it because the style actually suited me quite well.
Moreover, the leg ring was an alchemy item. It contained a one-cubic-meter storage space—not huge, but enough to solve my immediate problem.
Sister Bai had wanted to buy me a dedicated spatial storage item before, but I’d refused after seeing the price tag; they were simply too expensive. Now that we’d found one included as part of a set—or "thrown in," as Sister Bai put it—and the outfit itself wasn't pricey, we bought it.
At first, I thought it was just a coincidence.
But now, I realized that Sister Bai actually had a specific fetish: leg rings. Although she was quite restrained about it, her eyes had gone completely wide when I buckled the ring on and it squeezed into my thigh.
So, Sister Bai likes that kind of thing~
No wonder she didn't like me wearing long skirts. None of the styles she recommended were long enough to cover my legs. Of course, I couldn't rule out the possibility that she was just a leg person in general.
If I asked her directly, she probably wouldn't admit it, right?
Maybe I should slowly test the waters later? After all, she bought me so many outfits; there was no rush to try them all at once. Besides, she spent a lot of money on these, so it would be rude not to show her how they looked.
Currently, that one-cubic-meter leg ring was stuffed full. I’d put all the things in there that were awkward to carry by hand, like pajamas, underwear, and other private items.
Now that I was a girl, I couldn't just get by with dresses and skirts. For the sake of my own healthy development, there were many things I needed to buy.
I was just in time to go back and restock my wardrobe. I hoped the closet could handle it. I used to think the wardrobe was too big, but looking at it now, it was actually too small.
I pushed open the front door of the villa, but the first-floor living room was empty.
Today was the first day of school! Why was no one here?
It was already evening. Had they all gone out to party?
Dongli Yiren was busy with that part-time job whose details I still didn't know, but I remembered Guan Qiuling was supposed to be a shut-in. As for my fourth roommate, who had been MIA until now, there was still no sign of her even though classes had started.
Just as I went upstairs to drop off my things, I heard an unusual noise coming from next door.
If I recalled correctly, the room next to mine belonged to Guan Qiuling.
Was the soundproofing in this villa really that bad?
After setting down my clothes, I curiously poked my head out of my bedroom and looked toward Guan Qiuling’s room. What on earth was she doing to make that kind of noise?
Just as my curiosity peaked, Guan Qiuling’s door suddenly swung open. While I felt a slight pang of guilt for peeking, someone entirely unexpected appeared before my eyes.
"Ah... my apologies, lovely lady. I am a guest invited here by Guan Qiuling. Sorry for not informing you in advance."
The senior sister spoke very politely, but there wasn't a hint of actual apology in her tone. In fact, she sounded like she was savoring a lingering aftertaste.
"You! You're that person!"
I pointed at her in shock. Wasn't this the senior sister who had handled the hand-off for Guan Qiuling?
What was she doing here?
But... but!
She was invited by Guan Qiuling? That piece of information was a bit too much to process.
"Hmm? I believe I gave you my business card back then. It seems you've forgotten, my cute little junior? No matter. Allow me to introduce myself again. I am the Witch Academy's finest Trainer—Hu Xianyi. You left in such a hurry last time that we never had a formal introduction."
Hu Xianyi’s demeanor was completely different from our last meeting. If I had to describe her now, she was more like... a beast in a suit.
"I... you, what did you do to Guan Qiuling? I don't believe for a second she'd invite you!"
After a brief mental brainstorm to organize the situation, I demanded an answer. After all, Hu Xianyi was currently trespassing in a private residence. If she could enter Guan Qiuling’s bedroom today, she might enter mine tomorrow!
I absolutely could not allow such a wildcard to remain near me!
"Oh, I didn't do much. You mean Guan Qiuling? She’s missed me quite a bit these past few days. I distinctly remember how she was waiting anxiously outside the door for me this morning. It was truly adorable." As Hu Xianyi spoke, she seemed to be reminiscing about the morning's events, describing them to me in detail.
Hearing her say that, I seemed to recall that Guan Qiuling had indeed gotten up very early this morning and was even dressed quite neatly. Could what she was saying actually be true?
I stared at Hu Xianyi in disbelief, hoping to see a sign that she was lying.
"I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s the truth. Cute little junior, I heard from Guan Qiuling that your name is Yang Yuehan, right? What a lovely name. I know you're wary of me, but I have great professional integrity. I guarantee I won't do anything out of line to you."
"Guarantees are useless." Hearing her say my full name accurately made me start to believe her. Had Guan Qiuling really...?
No matter how I thought about it, this was just too insane.
"Um... is that Xiao Han?" A voice came from behind the door. It was definitely Guan Qiuling.
"Guan Qiuling, you..." I didn't even know how to talk to her anymore. This brief encounter had given me an unimaginable shock!
This roommate of mine was providing way more "entertainment" than I could handle. I was practically choking on the drama!
"I'm sorry, Sister Xiao Han... I, I..." Even now, Guan Qiuling didn't even show her face to confront me. Perhaps she had her own reasons that were hard to talk about.
"It's fine." My tone softened. In the end, I was just being nosy.
Actually, if I wasn't afraid of being dragged into it, I would have happily just watched the drama unfold. But this drama was too big; I couldn't stomach it!
"Everyone has their own choices, and I respect that. Just... let me know in the future. Dropping a bombshell like this on me without a word is a bit much to take." I subconsciously scratched my head and turned around awkwardly.
"Anyway, I won't disturb you. You guys carry on. I'm heading out. Um, I haven't had dinner yet, so I'm going to eat out. Want me to bring something back for you?"
"If possible, I'd like a steak, well-done..."
"It'll be ordinary takeout. Take it or leave it." I rolled my eyes at Hu Xianyi. I was just being polite and she actually put in an order.
With that, I hurried out the door. I couldn't stay in this dorm right now.
I’d wait for things to quiet down here before coming back. At this hour, the bakery shouldn't be closed yet. I might as well go check it out.
