Chapter 100: A Grand Official Opening
After welcoming our third roommate to the villa, my life returned to its usual routine.
I’d had my fill of running around these past few days. Compared to searching everywhere for people, I found kneading dough at the bakery much more interesting.
However, even though I had paused my work guiding the new students, I still made a conscious effort to look for our fourth roommate. She seemed to have vanished into thin air. If I couldn't find her soon, I’d have to report it to the school.
After all, if a person disappears for no reason and the academy doesn't take it seriously, then this school has some major problems!
Then again, considering this was a Transcendent Academy, it felt somewhat plausible—but thinking that way only made it scarier. I didn't want to wake up one day and find myself mysteriously erased from existence.
Since that day, Dongli Yiren had also started a part-time job. She seemed to be intentionally keeping the details from me; after she rejected my offer to look after her at work the first time, I didn't bring it up again.
It really is awkward to run into acquaintances while working part-time, and she is a total tsundere, after all.
She probably didn't realize it herself, but unfortunately for her, tsunderes are so last season in my book!
I’ll find an opportunity to give her a surprise later. For now, I was still focused on getting my flight license before the semester officially started.
As for the other girl in the villa, Guan Qiuling, she had adapted quite well to her current life. She didn't seem to be short on money at this stage.
Actually, I wasn't particularly short on cash either—not because of my part-time job, but because I remembered the enrollment subsidy for boys the academy had promised earlier.
I should find a chance to mention it to the two of them. I noticed Dongli Yiren was waking up even earlier than me and coming back later than I did. She was working so hard; I just hoped she wasn't being exploited.
The days trickled by.
Finally, the day of the Witch Academy’s official opening arrived.
I made a special trip to the freshman arrival point to take in the atmosphere.
If I hadn't arrived at school early, this is likely what I would have seen upon my first arrival.
The once simple registration plaza was now covered by massive Ley Line creations. From a distance, you could see the iconic "Welcome Freshmen" signage.
Young girls stepped into the area with hearts full of longing, guided every step of the way from the moment they passed through the curtain wall to the registration desk.
The senior sisters responsible for guiding the new students had swapped their casual clothes for uniformed attire. They led the freshmen through the registration process in organized batches.
I stood by the roadside, watching the flow of the Ley Lines enveloping the entire academy with envy.
That’s right—Ley Line flow creations. Over the past few days, I’d done some light reading on Ley Line energy and had a general idea of what it was. To put it simply, it was a massive energy network flowing beneath the earth, traversing the entire world.
The Witch Academy utilized this distribution to systematically guide Ley Line energy to every corner of the campus.
For the opening day, translucent, non-physical arrows appeared on the ground to guide the way, looking like mid-air holographic projections.
When I ran my finger through one, it triggered a ripple of energy. The manifestation of this energy was so clear that I didn't even need to use my Spirit Vision to see it.
Interacting with the arrows caused text to pop up, telling the new students what they needed to do and where each path led.
And this was just the most basic application. The massive, illusory building at the registration point was also constructed from Ley Line energy. I suspected that once the registration period ended, the area would revert back to a wide-open plaza.
So, such a magnificent scene was essentially just for show—like a fountain back in my old world that only sprays water during major events.
Still, being able to achieve this with just a flick of a finger and no material cost was truly impressive.
It certainly left a wonderful first impression of the "Transcendent World" on the new students.
But I knew all too well that the path ahead in a Transcendent Academy was hell. They probably didn't realize what they were about to face yet—and honestly, neither did I.
The Transcendent path could never be as peaceful and beautiful as it appeared right now.
On the day of registration, I finally received an official notification from the academy on my phone.
First, it was the standard "Welcome to the Witch Academy" message.
Then came the official announcement regarding the enrollment process, and finally, the freshman class assignments.
I was "honored" to be assigned to Class 14. However, the class numbers weren't based on grades or anything like that; they were randomly assigned.
I didn't buy that for a second, though. I knew Tan Han, after all; the teachers had fought over her so fiercely it was practically a war. The "randomly assigned" classes were likely for filler students like me.
I had been loitering at the freshman arrival point since early morning, specifically to see if there were any other boys. Since today was the unified enrollment day, surely no boy would voluntarily enroll in a Witch Academy on his own, right?
So far, I hadn't seen a single one.
However, since today was the official enrollment day, the "freshman snatching" activities should have been even more terrifying.
Were those senior sisters holding back somewhere to avoid scaring the newcomers?
"Xiao Han, what are you doing here?"
A sudden voice interrupted my thoughts. After a brief moment of hesitation, I immediately recognized who it was. That voice was far too familiar!
"Sister Bai!"
I turned around and saw Sister Bai, whom I hadn't seen in a long time. The joy in my heart was beyond words.
"Mhm. Xiao Han, did you miss me?"
"I did! So much! You said you’d only be gone for a few days, but it’s been ages, and I didn't hear a word from you the whole time." I lunged forward excitedly and hugged her without hesitation. I wouldn't have dared to do this before, but now... well, whatever.
Sister Bai definitely wouldn't mind.
And if she did, I’d just apologize on the spot. I felt like I had enough "leeway" to be a bit bold in front of her.
"Sorry, Xiao Han. I had some trouble estimating the time, but aren't I back now?" Sister Bai didn't say anything about my hug; she just reached out and patted my head with a doting expression.
I felt like ever since I became a girl, my relationship with Sister Bai had reached a new level. We’d probably gone from being true friends to something more like "besties." It felt nice.
"So, Sister Bai, how did you find me here?" I asked, looking up at her.
"Well, I went to the bakery where you work and asked. They told me you weren't in today because they gave you the day off, and suggested I might find you here. I didn't expect to actually run into you so quickly."
"Oh, the senior sisters told you? Hehe, they guessed right. I didn't even tell them I was coming here. How long were you looking for me?"
"From up in the sky, I spotted you with just a glance," Bai Yu said with a smile. She then took my hand and led me toward the crowd, following the guide arrows. "So? Does the official enrollment feel different from when you arrived early?"
"It definitely does. It feels so grand."
"Then, how about I walk through the process with you one more time? Every student only gets this welcome ceremony once in their life, after all," Bai Yu asked, smiling as she held my hand.
"Okay~"
