Chapter: 6
-------------------------------------------------
Kyeong-wan’s gaze shifted toward the old men who looked ready to swing their fists the moment they had an opening, and the middle-aged women who had their nails sharpened as if ready to claw at him.
Everyone knew what that gaze meant, and they all had the same thought.
An infuriating little bastard.
But annoying or not, the undeniable fact was that the ones causing the commotion were the victims’ parents.
So the police had no choice but to try their best to calm them down.
Still, who could possibly calm down when their child had just become a eunuch?
Especially when the perpetrator showed not the slightest sign of remorse and only continued provoking them.
In the end, it was only after they locked Kyeong-wan behind steel bars to completely block the parents’ access that the disturbance could finally be settled.
After things quieted down, they filled out various reports , only for the chaos to erupt again.
Their sons were now eunuchs, and yet new charges like attempted rape and molestation were being filed against them?
What kind of absurdity was that?
Enraged and resentful, they blamed everything on Kyeong-wan.
They were far too bitter to simply go home, so they glared into the holding cell, threatening him.
“You bastard! You think you’ll eat prison meals for the rest of your life!”
“Yeah. Juvenile protection law.”
To Kyeong-wan, their shouting was no more than ghosts cracking open rice husks , meaningless noise.
His reaction of “where’s that dog barking from” only made the parents angrier.
The problem (?) was that their sons hadn’t actually died even though their manhood was gone.
Even for involuntary manslaughter, the maximum sentence was only five years, so even if Kyeong-wan were sent to juvenile detention, he’d likely return to society much sooner.
And considering he fought multiple armed attackers while trying to save a high school girl from almost being raped, his sentence would be reduced even further.
But that didn’t mean the parents intended to sit still.
“Prepare yourself. We’re going to make sure you rot in juvenile detention for as long as possible. And those wasted years will drag your life straight into ruin.”
The father , a lawyer who had woken up one morning only to find himself the parent of a eunuch , glared at him with murder in his eyes as he spoke.
Kyeong-wan clicked his tongue with a pitying expression.
“Tsks tsks tsks. My life ended a long time ago, mister. If you wanted to provoke someone, you should’ve first checked what kind of situation they’re in. With that brain, how did you even become a lawyer?”
At the mocking tone, the lawyer’s lips curled back, exposing his teeth and gums.
If not for the bars between them, he would’ve thrown aside all dignity and lunged at him.
But, being a lawyer, perhaps he still had some functioning brain cells , he only shot a murderous glare before turning away.
Next time they met would likely be in court.
After the victims’ families left, peace finally returned to the police station.
That peace lasted until Kyeong-wan’s voice shattered it.
“Officer! I’m hungry!”
At that shamelessness, the detective in charge could only shake his head.

On the day of the trial, many people filled the gallery, causing a commotion.
“Your Honor! Please show that bastard what justice really means!”
“Please give the harshest punishment to the one who turned my child into a cripple!”
They were the plaintiffs’ families.
Hearing their pleas, Kyeong-wan made a baffled face.
Then he leaned toward his public defender, Attorney Kim Seok-yong, and whispered:
“What are they saying? If their kid had been caught as a rapist, they’d have begged for forgiveness just once, wouldn’t they? Isn’t that right, Mr. Attorney?”
“Ahem. Be quiet.”
Attorney Kim, visibly uncomfortable, shut him up and looked back down at his papers.
Anyone would’ve thought he was sincerely preparing for court.
But Kyeong-wan watched him with an oddly curious gaze.
“Quiet! Quiet down! If you disturb the courtroom again, you will be removed!”
Only after the judge’s warning did the gallery fall silent, and the trial finally began with the prosecutor’s opening remarks.
The central issue was whether it was legitimate self-defense.
Attorney Kim had already warned Kyeong-wan beforehand , he would push for self-defense as much as possible, but the chances of it being accepted were low.
The prosecutor questioned Kyeong-wan, seated at the defendant’s table.
“Why didn’t you call the police?”
“Because I didn’t have a phone.”
“You think that makes sense? In the 21st century?”
“In the 21st century, there are still people so poor they attempt joint suicide with their kid, only to abandon the kid and die alone. So is not having a phone really that shocking?”
“Just answer yes or no.”
“That kid was me, you know. So would I have a phone to call the police with?”
“You’re trying to appeal emotionally by talking about your unfortunate circumstances. That has nothing to do with this case.”
“You asked why I didn’t have a phone, so I honestly told you why.”
“Even so, you could have sought help some other way. There was no reason to fight six people.”
“That’s something you can say because you weren’t there.”
“Then what were you thinking at the time?”
‘Small-dicked punks, scare them a little and they’ll run with their tails between their legs’ , that’s what I thought. But they rushed at me like they wanted to kill me.”
“You didn’t expect it? Impossible. Why would the larger group be afraid?”
“Aren’t they the kind of losers who try to force themselves on a girl because they’re terrified of being rejected?”
“They were losers, sure, but still outnumbered you. If you hadn’t tried to fight, you could’ve gotten help.”
“Prosecutor, did you even study this case? If someone without a phone leaves the scene to look for help, the girl would’ve been raped already by the time they got back. Isn’t that right, Mr. Attorney?”
Attorney Kim hesitated but eventually defended the point , after Kyeong-wan subdued the first three attackers and sent the victim, Kim Shin-young, away, the next three who arrived had grabbed her again and taken her hostage.
In other words, the prosecutor’s argument that he could’ve gone for help was completely unrealistic.
Seemingly annoyed that the questioning wasn’t going well, the prosecutor appealed to the judge.
“Your Honor, the defendant is stubbornly twisting facts to minimize his crime!”
Kyeong-wan glanced at his own public defender.
The man simply frowned deeply yet made no attempt to rebut the prosecutor.
Fortunately, the judge didn’t accept the prosecutor’s complaint.
“I don’t think so. Continue with the questioning.”
The prosecutor faced him again.
“According to the victims, you greatly enjoyed inflicting injury. Is that true?”
“It’s a matter of perspective.”
“A matter of perspective?”
“Think about it, Prosecutor. It was six against one. Unless I’m the Hulk, what would happen if I tried to fight seriously? One out of seven would’ve died.”
“Do you really believe that’s a reasonable statement?”
“Absolutely. People become serious against normal threats , but they avoid psychos. I’m not some pervert who enjoys hurting people. I acted crazy to crush their morale. That’s all.”
The prosecutor looked dumbfounded.
If they’d been in his office, he would’ve yelled at him to stop talking nonsense , but unfortunately, this was a courtroom.
“Is the prosecution done questioning?”
“N-no, Your Honor.”
Snapped back to reality, the prosecutor continued.
After the questioning ended, the victim took the stand , one of the delinquents who had been forced to experience the new extreme sport known as Bloody Face Bobsleigh.
The aftereffects were severe.
His face had been scraped so badly the bone showed, his eye half-blind, and his facial skin so damaged that only grafts could fix it , but grafted skin would never look normal.
So he sobbed and begged the judge to deliver a stern punishment.
The prosecutor turned to Kyeong-wan.
“What do you think when you look at the victim?”
“I think he’s disgusting.”
“Disgusting?”
“Isn’t it obvious? If I hadn’t been there, he and his little crew would’ve left permanent scars on an innocent, helpless victim. A criminal pretending to be the victim , it’s revolting.”
“You bastard! I’ll kill you!”
A shriek erupted from the gallery , the mother of the now-eunuch victim.
She tried to claw her way toward him, but court security held her back.
“Quiet! Quiet down!”
The judge banged the gavel, urging them to restore order, but the frenzied woman could not be subdued quickly.
Kyeong-wan turned, met her murderous stare , then casually picked his nose with his pinky.
He flicked it toward her.
The yellow lump flew straight into her mouth, landing on her tongue.
He clenched his fist triumphantly.
“Stuuuu-rike!”
The woman, previously screaming from rage, suddenly froze as she realized something foreign was on her tongue , salty, soft , and then remembered what he had done just before.
And that realization sparked a fury beyond imagination.
“EyaaAAAAAAAH! Ack! Ack!”
Her scream was so loud even the court security who were restraining her had to cover their ears.
But even her impressive cardio and vocal power could not overcome her blood pressure , she clutched her neck, eyes rolling back, and collapsed.
A guard hurriedly carried her out.
With the troublemaker removed, the gallery still buzzed restlessly, and even the judge seemed shaken.
In all his years, he had never experienced such a chaotic scene.
He declared a one-hour recess , he could not possibly deliver a calm judgment under these conditions.
Good grief! A courtroom disturbance caused by someone flicking a booger into someone’s mouth?
Once the recess was announced, Attorney Kim and Kyeong-wan found themselves alone in the same space.
The atmosphere was awkward , it was hard to say they had built any real attorney-client relationship at all.
Kyeong-wan spoke first.
“I talked a bit too much, didn’t I?”
“You did indeed.”
“Isn’t it strange, though? In dramas and movies, lawyers are supposed to defend their clients.”
“Well…”
Attorney Kim avoided his gaze, searching for an excuse.
Then, suddenly, Kyeong-wan stood and placed a hand on his shoulder.
“How much did you take?”
“Take? Take what?”
“Oh! So you didn’t take money , you took something else in exchange for a favor? Like a job offer from a big law firm?”
“…”
Kim’s eyes trembled for a moment.
How did he know?
Seeing the reaction, Kyeong-wan let out a whistle like a detective catching the culprit.
“Wow~! And here’s our little snitch bastard.”
“What nonsense are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
He tried to compose his expression, but he didn’t know , evidence meant nothing to Kyeong-wan.
“Mister. You got some kind of powerful backing? Is that how you keep a straight face like that?”
“I think you’re misunderstanding something, ”
“Should I tell the judge when the trial resumes? That the public defender took a bribe from the victims’ families and violated his duty, so I’d like him replaced?”
