Controversy... And Naruto

After the stream ended, I let out a long breath.

"Whew~ That was fun."

I opened my eyes inside my room in the Naruto world. With a trembling heart I turned on the stream.

The chat messages made me realize the regression had truly worked. I smiled and spoke.

"I was planning to go somewhere else, but Naruto suddenly felt really appealing."

"I’ll visit the other worlds next time! Right now this should be… right after the Third Hokage’s funeral, when Jiraiya and Naruto head out to find Tsunade for the next Hokage position, yeah? I’ll tag along and join them."

I left the room and went looking for Jiraiya.

"Hm? You’re the one who passed the Chunin Exams this time, aren’t you? How did you know I was going to look for Tsunade?"

"Hello, Lord Jiraiya. My name is Jin; I just became a Chunin. As for how I knew… You have no interest in becoming Hokage yourself, and Tsunade is the strongest candidate. So I figured you would go bring her back even if you don’t want the position yourself."

"Smart kid. So what do you want to say?"

"Please take me with you."

"You? Why do you want to follow me?"

On the way back after meeting Jiraiya, I spotted Naruto eating at Ichiraku Ramen and walked over.

"What are you talking about? We saw each other at Lord Hokage’s funeral just a few days ago."

I ate my ramen and listened to Naruto chatter away.

"Stop yapping while your friend is trying to eat, Naruto."

Jiraiya appeared from behind and walked up to us.

"You two, come do a job with me."

That line sounded straight out of Death Note. Anyway, Naruto looked annoyed at first, but the moment Jiraiya mentioned he’d teach him an awesome jutsu, he immediately agreed.

I ‍‍‌‌⁠​​⁠‌​​‍​​‍​‌​⁠‍‌‍⁠⁠‌⁠‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍⁠​‌​‌​‌‍‌‌‌⁠‍​​‌‍⁠‌‌⁠⁠had been planning to follow anyway, so I just went along.

"Then get ready and meet me at the village gate in one hour!"

"I should at least put a change of underwear in a bag, right?"

One hour later we met Jiraiya at the village gate.

"By the way, where are we going, Ero-Sennin?"

"You’ll find out if you follow."

And so we set off on our journey following Jiraiya. After some time we arrived at a small town and decided to rest at an inn.

"Oh! A stunning beauty just winked at me! Naruto, Jin! Here’s the room key. Go to the room and practice gathering chakra or something!"

Jiraiya handed us the key and hurried after a beautiful woman.

"Itachi… Do you think I can handle him?"

"That only works for Guy, and I can’t fight while only staring at feet."

I had found a way to deal with Itachi. Even if I couldn’t win, I was confident I could hold him off until Jiraiya arrived.

Naruto walked toward the door… I finished my combat preparations and waited for it to open. The moment the door burst open, Itachi—looking just like Sasuke—stood there.

I closed the distance in an instant, twisted his arm, and drove a fist straight into Itachi’s solar plexus. Itachi blocked with his arm but was still sent flying backward into the wall.

"Naruto, get behind me."

"Who are you?"

"Leaf Village Taijutsu Number Two."

"Guy-sensei’s student?"

They mistook me for Guy’s student… Especially Kisame, who licked his lips while grinning at me.

Maybe because of the cliché Rock Lee often used, Kisame emerged from the debris, brushing it off.

"That kid’s fists actually hurt. You don’t seem like a mere genin."

"Don’t let your guard down. If he’s Guy’s student he can’t be an ordinary genin."

I glanced at Itachi as he warned Kisame.

"Uh… Nice to meet you, Itachi. I’m giving up on Naruto."

Boom!!

While I was talking to Itachi, Kisame swung his weapon Samehada.

"Hey, fish guy, I was talking to Itachi. Can you wait your turn?"

"Hmph! Arrogant little brat. And why do you keep calling me a fish? You speak politely to Itachi but not to me?"

"You and Itachi aren’t on the same level. Anyway, please give up on Naruto. I know I can’t beat both of you, but I should be able to hold out until Lord Jiraiya returns."

Kisame swung Samehada at me.

Chidori crackled in Sasuke’s hand as he charged, screaming. But he couldn’t even reach Itachi and his attack failed miserably.

"Foolish little brother. You’re still so weak."

With those words he grabbed Sasuke by the throat and cast Tsukuyomi.

Boom!!

"You bastard!! I’ll kill you!!"

Kisame, who had briefly lost consciousness after taking my chakra-infused punch, woke up furious and released his chakra. It was on a completely different scale from before… I tensed up and stared at him.

At that moment the hallway of the inn we were in turned into something fleshy, and Jiraiya arrived.

"You don’t seem to know me very well. I am the gallant Jiraiya! Did you really think I would fall for a woman’s seduction so easily?"

"Then don’t leave your spot in the first place."

Jiraiya flinched at my cold glare, then spoke to the enemies.

"Is your target Naruto?"

"As expected, you were the source of the information, Jiraiya? You must have been the one who gave information to Kakashi as well. Capturing Naruto is the mission Akatsuki gave us."

"Hmph. You’re already in my hands. The two of you are trapped inside the stomach of the giant toad I summoned from Mount Myoboku. Give up on escaping."

After listening to Jiraiya, Itachi glanced at Naruto for a moment before calling out to Kisame, who was facing me.

"Let’s retreat, Kisame. With Jiraiya here it’s best to withdraw for now."

Kisame glared at me once before returning to Itachi’s side.

"You think I’ll let you escape!"

The moment Jiraiya placed his hand on the floor, the walls around us began to close in. Itachi and Kisame ran to the end of the hallway and turned into the right corridor. Jiraiya chased after them too late and confirmed that the toad prison he had summoned had been broken through.

There he saw the black flames that wouldn’t extinguish even after burning the toad’s stomach lining. He pulled out a scroll.

Sealing Technique — Fire Sealing Method.

Itachi’s black flames were sucked into the scroll and sealed away.

Jiraiya handed the unconscious Sasuke over to Guy, who had followed him, then left the area with me and Naruto. While we were traveling to find Tsunade, Jiraiya said he would teach us a jutsu.

Jiraiya created a Rasengan and pressed it against a tree. The powerful rotation drilled a hole straight through, shaving the wood away.

"Whoa! That’s an amazing jutsu!! You’re really teaching us this?!"

"This jutsu is called Rasengan. It’s the Fourth Hokage’s technique. Even he took three years to master it—it’s an advanced jutsu."

With that he tossed us water balloons.

"Rotate your chakra to pop these water balloons. That’s your first lesson."

Naruto gripped the balloon and spun his chakra, but it didn’t pop. I stared quietly at the water balloon in my hand.

"No, I think I can do this. I’m just debating whether to succeed on the first try or match Naruto’s timing."

After hearing the chat, I rotated my mana first left, then right. The water balloon burst instantly.

Pop!

"Eh??"

"That fast?!"

Naruto looked shocked. Jiraiya was stunned. I calmly told the surprised pair,

"What’s next?"

Jiraiya told me to try again. When I succeeded instantly once more, he finally nodded in acknowledgment and took out a rubber ball, telling me to pop it the same way.

"Hey Jin… Can you tell me the trick?"

I turned to look at Jiraiya. He shook his head at my gaze. Naruto looked a little down for a second, then focused on the water balloon again and continued training.

"And you popped it in only three tries?"
