Main Story Complete — Afterword!!!
Greetings, dear readers. It's the author... Lowlife— no, sorry, Lowly. That's me.
First of all — to every reader who stayed with my debut novel, Impregnating Everyone with the Rapid Breeding Trait, all the way to the very end:
BAM!! (smashing my forehead into the floor) Allow me to offer you one big, satisfying full bow!!!!!
Making it all the way to completion, powering through the agony of writing, and — after splattering this novel all over the place — not once pulling a pants-run and bolting on it: every last bit of it!! I truly believe none of that would have been possible if you readers hadn't been there with me.
Bow...
Thank you once again, from the bottom of my heart.
Even at this very moment, as I write this afterword, I can't quite tell how I'm feeling. I've seen plenty of endings before — webtoons, anime, other authors' works, you name it. But maybe it's because this is the first time a 'novel' I made with my own hands has actually reached its finale.
...
If you've read this novel all the way through, you may have already caught on, but... I'm embarrassingly inadequate to even call myself an author. Weaving a story, building a plot, planting foreshadowing, handling clichés — take your pick, I fall short on all of it. Heh heh...
That's because this year was the first time in my life I ever got into web novels.
But!!
Back then, reading through the novels lined up on the rankings from chapter 1 all the way to 15 (free-user limitations, you see), I thought to myself:
'I want to make something like this too.'
And without a moment's hesitation, I flipped open my laptop.
And before long — tap! "Fuck." — I slammed the laptop shut again, goddamn it.
I had no clue what I was supposed to write, you see. Because I was a total rookie (by author standards, anyway)!
From that point on, I threw everything into the mix — Googling, lurking around communities, AI, the whole nine yards — and pieced together one perfectly ordinary worldview: a story trunk, characters, abilities, and so on.
Of course, I figured that if it stayed just plain ordinary, no readers would bother showing up. So... I cooked up one spectacularly vulgar, trashy trait and story and stuffed them right in.
And that, right there, was this very novel.
The main story has ended, all right — but there are still a few plot hooks I never got around to untying.
◈ How Kang Hanul's head got crunched like a crispy cookie three years ago — and just how the hell he came back to life from that
◈ What on earth the Rapid Breeding trait actually is
◈ The story of the Kurogane-gumi yakuza in Japan
◈ The other bastard children Kang Hanul splattered out into the world
◈ The Constellation's brat
◈ Where the hell those bastards Rine and Lian crawled in from
◈ The school life of Rehan, Sua, and Jiyun
◈ ...etc., etc., etc...
Having actually written them all out just now... turns out it's a bit more than "a few." Heh heh...
Anyway, I plan to sift through these, pick out a handful, and write them up, nice and simple, as side stories. The format will most likely be irregular serialization.
I can't say for sure yet, but I imagine I'll start preparing my next work. And for that next work, I think I'd like to try writing something with a dark fantasy feel. (If the side stories end up running long, I might just work on the two in parallel...)
