Raid: Has the Prophet Shown Up?!
From the looks of Lona talking in that interview video, it seems like it's the real deal?
I've organized the reasons why Americans are so fiercely denying the Prophet claim.
Reason 1: Lack of Evidence
There aren't enough cases yet, and no one has identified the person. From that perspective, it's still too early to call them a Prophet. On top of that, the university CCTV was completely disabled so we don't even have a face. This one is understandable if you show a little patience.
Reason 2: How could an Asian country defeat the lizard we barely managed to take down?
It's completely illogical, and the racist undertones make it even more infuriating. Do these guys have no brains? They don't even know what powers a Prophet might have, yet they're using logic like "I couldn't do it, so how could you?" We can cleanly ignore this one.
+The lizard isn't even dead yet. When observed under a microscope, its cells are still moving.
☆Reason 3: Unregistered Awakener☆
This is the most important one. The argument is that if it were truly a Prophet, they would have registered long ago. The Korean Awakener Association has no record of anyone with prophetic abilities. The logic goes: "Then it's an unregistered Awakener, but why wouldn't they register? It's not like a Prophet would hide." A lot of foreigners are refusing to believe it's a Prophet because of this point. Of course we can't completely rule out the possibility that they just awakened, but the fact that a whole day has passed without registration is giving this argument real weight.
+Because the response was so fast, many people are guessing it's an S University student. The silver lining is that it wasn't used for a crime? Damn, if it hadn't been the last moment...
The community was filled with nothing but talk about the Prophet. I thought to myself, 'Has a Prophet been born in Korea too?' When did that happen? Maybe I should start watching the news. But I wasn't particularly surprised.
"Sigh, the world really is going to hell."
Prophets popping up all over the place on Earth. I have no idea where the world is headed. 'Poor thing, though.'
I was curious about the person who had awakened as a Prophet. To awaken as the most useless class of all... I should at least read their fortune for them later.
When I entered the soundproof booth to start streaming, a strange sound came from my stomach.
Gurgle~
"......"
The alarm clock had gone off. Right, it was lunchtime. I headed straight to the kitchen and was checking the fridge when a grating word from the TV reached my ears.
Kim Lona, could you explain it again? Is it really a Prophet?
Prophet?
I quickly moved in front of the TV. Ha-im was standing beside it, watching the interview.
"What?"
"I was curious who awakened as a Prophet."
Ha-im stared at me with an incredulous look.
"This is an interview about you, oppa."
"Huh? What are you talking about? I'm not a Prophet."
Ha-im got annoyed and told me to just listen to the interview properly.
Lona was holding a press conference in front of a crowd of gathered reporters.
Kim Lona, how did you prepare for this incident?
A passerby told me. They said a great calamity would strike the university I attend.
Calamity. It was an incredibly vague word, but everyone gathered there understood exactly what that great calamity meant.
Then could you tell us about that person's identity or characteristics?
I don't know the details. That person prefers to keep their identity hidden. However, it is clear that they see through everything.
Does that mean a Prophet has appeared in Korea as well, just like in America?
The reporters at the conference watched Lona in complete silence. Lona smiled at them and opened her mouth.
Click click click! In that instant, countless camera flashes went off aimed at Lona. Their determination not to miss the shutter chance was intense.
After the press conference ended, Lee Ha-im subtly shifted her gaze to check her older brother's reaction. Oppa absolutely hated the word Prophet. She couldn't predict what kind of reaction would come.
"Whoa... there was someone else besides me who told her?"
"......?"
What the hell was he talking about now?
"Did they contact you too?"
"...No."
'Did he create some fictional character called the Prophet?'
Oppa's logic went like this: I helped defeat a 1st-class monster. The interview said a Prophet helped. I am not a Prophet. = Ah, so another Prophet has appeared!
It was so ridiculous that common sense didn't apply at all. At this point I was starting to suspect it was a real illness.
Just in case, I asked.
"...What if the Prophet mentioned in the interview was actually referring to you?"
"Hmm, well. I've never really thought about it..."
Gulp. I swallowed. The fate of my friend depended on the answer that would come out of that mouth.
"I'd make them regret being alive."
"......!"
He would first curse their family line for three generations, then add a curse that would make every investment they touched fail. 'And eventually turn them into a prostitute. Is that going too far?' Anyway, since he had spread the name of the Prophet—the symbol of incompetence—all over the world, this much was a cheap price to pay.
But for some reason, the way Ha-im was looking at me was strange.
"What? Don't tell me that Prophet is supposed to be me?"
"N-no! No way. Comparing you to those useless people doesn't even make sense!"
"You're actually saying something right for once."
Her strong denial was extremely suspicious, but since she wasn't wrong, I let it slide.
"...O-oppa, aren't you going to stream?"
"Yeah, I should go soon."
"Th-then hurry up and go! D-don't stay here!"
"......?"
I didn't know why she was trying to chase me out so desperately, but I had to start the stream, so I went into the soundproof booth.
"Hello everyone~?"
After I started the stream, people flooded in within one or two minutes.
"What news?"
"Ah, I thought it was something else. Of course I know. Looks like another useless person has appeared in our country."
"Concept? I'm always serious."
It was ridiculous. If anyone hated the word Prophet as much as I did, I'd explain in detail about the church bastards who had been bothering me all this time.
An anonymous donation message came in, and the chat was flooded with lols. 'Tsk...!' I clicked my tongue inwardly. I should have raised the probability if I knew this would happen. But I couldn't change the subject now.
"Still, there must be some of you who benefited from me."
Ten percent really was a huge number. It meant that if you threw out ten random guesses, one was guaranteed to be correct. And when I gave the viewers stock information that cleverly mixed truth and lies, more than ten people profited.
"And is there anyone who reads faces as well as I do?"
With just this level of ability, wasn't I already twice as good as a Prophet?
"No cam? Just give up already."
I shouldn't have read that. A sigh came out automatically.
"Sigh, should I do it? I'll even reveal my face this time."
The viewers were thrown into chaos by the sudden declaration. When the broadcast screen went dark, a grand BGM started playing. It was the Last Magic login screen.
"This is my face, though?"
I zoomed in on the character and showed the customization screen. This counted as revealing my face, right? It looked exactly like me. But the viewers who didn't know the truth were busy getting angry. I needed to change the subject quickly.
"Everyone, what do you think I'll do today?"
If they were my regular viewers, they would know what the next step was.
As expected from viewers who had watched my stream for the past two weeks. But this time was different.
I pressed accept without hesitation. The viewers expressed their confusion.
"Ah, some of you might not know. He's the person who helped me as an enemy when we filmed the explanation video last time."
After the game ended, over fifty friend requests came in. I thought about rejecting them all, but since I had plenty of time, I checked them one by one. I picked out a few decent ones and accepted their requests. Noah was one of them. I rejected all the other enemy players—the thieves and martial artists—but this guy had good control and preparation, so I specially accepted him. After that, whenever I didn't have enough people for multi events, we'd sometimes play together.
The expected question came up. I smiled and answered.
"What PK? If you're in a party, the national rule is to do a raid, isn't it?"
The viewers expressed worry about my first challenge, but I completely ignored them. And so my first raid in life began.
