Chapter 290: Safe Driving Is Very Important
A few minutes later, the convertible that had originally been trailing behind had just overtaken them and had not yet managed to change lanes when another enormous off-road vehicle suddenly cut diagonally in from another intersection. Eric immediately slammed on the accelerator, while the driver of the convertible on the other side frantically spun the steering wheel. Although he avoided a head-on collision with the off-road vehicle, the entire car still lost control, directly mounted the curb, and crashed into a transformer box. Along with a dull bang, a chain of sparks burst out, and the lights in many of the surrounding houses almost simultaneously went dark.
The off-road vehicle’s driver also realized an accident had occurred. The vehicle slowed only briefly before accelerating away into the distance.
Eric pushed open the car door, looked at the young men inside the convertible, all twisted awkwardly and seemingly unconscious, then spread his hands toward Elisabeth and earnestly said, “See? Karma caught up with them. I told you already, dangerous driving harms both others and yourself.”
“Stop fooling around and call 911 already,” the woman glared at him. She took a step forward, then immediately stopped.
Eric took out his mobile phone from the car and dialed 911, briefly explaining the situation. The two of them did not leave immediately and could only wait there patiently.
Elisabeth glanced around at the darkened houses and suddenly said to Eric, “Julia’s villa is just ahead. It probably lost power too.”
Eric comforted her, “It’s fine. They’ll probably fix it soon.”
The two waited there patiently. After one or two minutes, the police still had not arrived, but a young man in his twenties walked out from a nearby villa, cursing as he approached the two of them. Under the streetlights, the young man looked utterly dispirited, with messy hair and an unshaven face. Even before he came close, Eric and Elisabeth could tell from his staggering body that he was drunk.
The young man walked up in front of Eric and Elisabeth, whistled at Elisabeth, then noticed the utterly wrecked convertible that had smashed into the transformer along with the people inside it. “Wow, wow, there was a car accident. Anybody dead?”
Elisabeth frowned and moved a little closer to Eric. Eric leaned against the car and had no intention of paying attention to the man.
The young man found it boring. After pacing around a few times, he still did not leave. Instead, he shamelessly moved closer and carefully examined Eric under the light. Then he clapped his hands and said, “Wow, you seem to be that… that guy, let me think. Oh, the director of Internal Affairs. Eric Williams, right?”
Eric gave a slight nod without much commitment. The young man immediately looked toward Elisabeth beside him. “Is this another newcomer you’re planning to promote? Heh, she’s not bad, but not as pretty as that Nicole Kidman. Damn, those long legs of hers. When they wrapped around someone, tsk tsk. I’ve hooked up with a few long-legged girls before, but none were as gorgeous as Nicole Kidman…”
Since he was bored anyway, Eric heard the young man say this and realized this was obviously a “fellow man of culture.” He was just about to casually exchange a few crude jokes when a small hand reached over to his waist, grabbed a piece of flesh, and viciously twisted it.
Eric sucked in a breath of cold air, slapped Elisabeth’s hand away, rubbed his waist, and asked, “What are you going crazy for?”
“Hmph!” Elisabeth snorted coldly and turned her head away.
However, the movement was noticed by the young man. He revealed a wicked grin and lowered his voice. “That girl’s got quite the temper. Eric, I think girls like this just need proper discipline. Want me to teach you a few tricks?”
“Uh, no need for that,” Eric said with a frown, enduring the alcohol fumes pouring from the young man’s mouth while tightly grabbing the woman’s wrist as she reached over again.
Very soon, police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances arrived one after another.
Eric briefly explained the situation to the police officer. The officer recognized Eric’s identity and did not make things difficult for him. After taking a simple statement on the spot, he let Eric and Elisabeth leave.
Eric got back into the car. After the woman settled into the passenger seat, he started the vehicle again. Glancing once more at the completely wrecked convertible, he faintly heard the drunken young man gesturing animatedly at the officer. “Officer, this has absolutely nothing to do with me. I don’t even know those guys. Yeah, I drank a little, but I wasn’t driving. I live in that villa over there. See? That one. I was about to go to sleep, but my bedside lamp suddenly broke. I was trying to fix it when the power went out…”
Julia’s small villa was not very far from the accident site. After driving for only one or two minutes, they arrived. Just as Elisabeth predicted, the place had indeed lost power. The villa was pitch-black.
Eric parked the car and looked at Elisabeth in the passenger seat. “Then go on in. I’m heading back.”
The woman sat there hesitating for a moment before softly saying, “Julia went to San Francisco. She said she might not make it back tonight. There’s no one in the villa right now.”
“Hm?”
“I… I’m afraid of the dark,” the woman muttered in a mosquito-like voice.
Eric thought for a moment before saying, “Then I’ll walk you inside.”
“Mhm.” Elisabeth hesitated briefly before nodding lightly.
The two entered the villa together in darkness and stood side by side in the pitch-black living room. Eric then asked, “Do you know where there might be a flashlight or candles?”
In the darkness, Elisabeth shook her head. “I’m not sure. But Julia always likes putting small things in the compartments under the television.”
“Oh,” Eric replied. “Then go look.”
“I… you go.” The woman’s voice trembled slightly in the darkness.
Eric said, “I don’t know where it is. I’ve never been here.”
“Liar,” Elisabeth said. “Don’t think I don’t know about your relationship with Julia.”
“I won’t deny it. Julia and I did have a few encounters, but I really have never come here.”
“Well… the television is against the eastern wall.”
“Forget it. Let’s go together.” Eric fumbled around in the dark, found the woman’s small hand, and grabbed it. “You lead the way.”
Elisabeth instinctively struggled a little, but not very hard. Instead, she obediently pulled Eric toward the television. After a few steps, she suddenly felt something catch under her foot, and her body abruptly pitched forward. Feeling the woman’s tug, Eric quickly pulled in the opposite direction. Her warm, fragrant body immediately fell into his arms.
His hands instinctively wrapped around the woman’s waist. Feeling Elisabeth’s breathing against his chest rapidly become uneven, Eric tentatively leaned in, finding the woman’s face in the darkness. He kissed his way downward until he found her moist lips.
The silent kiss continued for who knew how long before Elisabeth, having regained some strength, pushed Eric away slightly.
“You bastard. You definitely planned this from the beginning,” the woman softly cursed.
One of Eric’s hands had already unknowingly slipped inside the woman’s clothing, lightly caressing her smooth skin as he leaned close to her ear and whispered, “If you don’t agree, I’ll leave right now.”
Elisabeth hit him several times, then slightly rose onto her toes and took the initiative to kiss him.
After such an obvious invitation, Eric naturally stopped holding back. His movements became much rougher.
“Not here… ah, don’t take it off…” The voice filled with intense shyness sounded a few times in the darkness, but soon turned into meaningless murmurs.
Perhaps because the darkness gave her cover, the woman’s resistance was not very strong. Eric quickly stripped away her warm body, removed his own clothes in a few swift motions, found the sofa by touch, and pressed the woman down onto it. The sounds of rapid breathing and bodies colliding soon echoed through the darkness, occasionally mixed with the woman’s low, suppressed cries.
After an unknown amount of time, the woman suddenly clung tightly to Eric like an octopus. Eric thoughtfully paused his movements for the moment and gently stroked the trembling back of the woman in his arms.
“I… I’m okay now,” Elisabeth softly said after quite a while.
Eric paused for a moment, then wickedly thrust forward once. “But I’m not.”
The woman let out a startled cry, her body trembling violently. She hurriedly braced her hands against Eric to stop him from moving again. After taking several rapid breaths, she said, “I don’t want to do it here anymore. I want to go to the bedroom. Once we’re there… you can do whatever you want.”
“Okay. Where’s the staircase?” Eric lifted the woman into his arms entirely.
“It’s in the northwest corner. Can you pull out first?”
“No.” Eric supported the woman’s soft hips and slowly groped his way toward the staircase again. Because of the darkness and the fact that he was carrying someone, Eric moved very cautiously. It took quite a long time before he finally reached the second floor.
“Go east. My room is the second one,” Elisabeth rested her head on Eric’s shoulder and softly instructed him.
Eric acknowledged her, casually feeling around until he grabbed a doorknob and directly walked inside. Although Elisabeth faintly sensed something was wrong, her mind was already somewhat hazy, so the feeling disappeared as quickly as it came and was tossed to the back of her mind.
Although the bedroom curtains were drawn, the glow from other areas of Los Angeles still illuminated the room faintly, so it was not as dark as the first floor. Eric vaguely made out the shape of a large bed and carried the woman over.
After placing her onto the bed and turning her over, Eric pressed himself down on top of her.
“A-again like this? Pervert,” Elisabeth, clearly rather conservative in this area, lifted her waist slightly upward as she lay there and complained dissatisfiedly.
Eric softly coaxed her a few times, turned her head back toward him, and kissed her until the woman finally relaxed obediently. Just as he held her soft waist and moved a few times, Eric suddenly discovered in the dim light of the bedroom that something on the other side of the bed was quietly moving away.
It was a figure. A woman’s figure. And the only other woman who could possibly appear in this house was undoubtedly Julia herself.
