Chapter 013: Great Sage, Please Subdue This Little Demon
Chapter 013: Great Sage, Please Subdue This Little Demon
A week later, the school scenes were completely finished, and the crew began filming other settings.
“Wow, wow.” Susan Sarandon walked up to Eric, stretched out both hands, pinched Eric’s face, and kneaded it freely. “You look so much like my husband, don’t you?”
“Mm-hm!” Eric grunted under Susan’s ravaging.
“That’s my ex-husband. How strange.”
“It really is strange,” Eric echoed.
“What exactly is going on?”
At this moment, Penny Marshall, who was watching the monitor nearby, shouted, “Cut! Eric, you broke character and laughed again. This is already the fifth time. The fifth time! Can’t you restrain yourself a little?”
In people’s usual understanding, creatures like directors did not have very good tempers. This was quite normal. Facing an actor’s NG takes again and again, wasting the crew’s time and money, even someone with the best temper would become so angry that they wanted to pick up a knife and hack someone.
Faced with this situation, Eric could only apologize again and again. “Sorry, Penny. I promise I’ll try not to laugh next time.”
Penny Marshall rolled her eyes dramatically. Clearly, this was not Eric’s first promise. “Everyone in position. Get ready to do it again.”
Susan Sarandon, standing beside Eric, said, “Eric, when I rub your face later, you can try letting your gaze unfocus. Don’t focus your attention on me either.”
“Alright, Ms. Sarandon. I’ll try.”
To be honest, the humor in this scene was not that strong. But for some reason, Eric kept being unable to stop himself from laughing.
Filming began again. Following Susan Sarandon’s suggestion, Eric barely managed to hold back his laughter by a hair’s breadth. After being tossed around six times, this shot finally passed.
During the break, Eric walked over to Susan Sarandon and said, “Ms. Sarandon, thank you so much just now.”
“It’s nothing, Eric. Just call me Susan. Actually, you yourself have talent. I’ve never seen an actor perform as well as you the first time they acted.”
“Oh, thank you. Um, Susan, may I ask you a question?”
“Go ahead.”
Eric said, “I want to know, Susan, how do you maintain such a good figure?”
“Wow, Eric. Can I take that as praise?” Susan Sarandon raised her eyebrows and asked back with an ambiguous smile.
Noticing Susan Sarandon’s meaningful smile, Eric suddenly remembered that this mature beauty before him was famous in Hollywood for liking younger men. Several boyfriends she had dated in succession were all more than ten years younger than her, and even in her sixties, she planned to marry a boyfriend thirty-two years younger than herself.
“No, Susan. Actually, it’s my... girlfriend. She’s been losing weight recently, so I wanted to see if I could get some advice from you.”
“Oh, so that’s it. Losing weight isn’t easy. I happen to know a good fitness consultant. She opened a women’s fitness club in Beverly Hills, and she’s also an excellent nutritionist. You can take your girlfriend there for a consultation. She’ll make a reasonable weight-loss plan for your girlfriend.”
“Then, Susan, could you leave me an address?”
“Of course.” Susan Sarandon asked her assistant for paper and a pen, quickly wrote a note, and handed it to Eric. Eric put the note away, thanked her, and turned to leave.
He had just reached his resting spot and sat down when Drew swiftly pulled her chair over and leaned beside Eric, sneaking closer like a little ghost. “Hey, Eric, what did Susan write for you just now? Could it be a date address?”
Eric pushed away Drew’s face, which was getting closer and closer. “Of course. You saw it too. I like mature women, so a thirteen-year-old little girl like you should stop wasting your effort.”
“Ha!” Drew chuckled softly. She had only been joking to begin with. Eric’s generous admission instead denied that possibility. Then she said, “I heard children who grow up without a mother all have Oedipus complexes when they grow up. Are you like that too?”
Clearly, Drew had done some research on Eric’s family situation.
“Hey, Drew, that’s not a good topic.”
Drew thought Eric was angry after hearing something about his mother, so she could only stick out her tongue.
“Eric, after work today, can you treat me to dinner?”
Eric shook his head. “No. If I’m treating anyone, I’m treating Annie.”
“That fat girl? Are you trying to raise her into a Tyrannosaurus rex?”
Eric was somewhat curious. Did people already use dinosaurs to describe fat girls in this era?
“Tyrannosaurus rex? Drew, don’t you think saying that about my girlfriend right in front of me is very inappropriate? If you were a man, I might be beating you up right now.”
“Hmph. Don’t think I don’t know. You two aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend yet. I heard about her audition. James gave her role to her for your sake. With that fat girl’s pride, she definitely won’t become your girlfriend now. At the very least, she’ll wait until the movie finishes filming. What a hypocritical woman.”
“Drew.” Eric’s face turned serious. “If you keep talking like this, don’t even think I’ll pay attention to you again.”
“Alright, alright.” Drew raised both hands in surrender. “Then I’ll treat you to dinner. That should be fine, right? After dinner, we can find a place to chat about your Jurassic Park. It’s really amazing. I formally announce that I am now a book fan of Mr. Eric Williams.”
Eric said, “Stop messing around, Drew. Will your mother agree to you running around?”
“That woman.” Drew looked disgusted. “As long as it isn’t time to sign checks, she’s too lazy to care about me.”
It seemed Drew Barrymore’s prejudice against her mother had already sunk deep into her bones. No wonder in Eric’s previous life, after Drew turned sixteen, she broke with her family so thoroughly.
There were many shots involving Eric today. Even with such a young body, he was somewhat unable to endure it. After wrapping up, he walked toward the parking lot tiredly. Very quickly, he discovered Drew chasing after him like a little tail.
“Hey, Eric, you promised to treat me to dinner. Don’t run away.”
Eric stopped. “Drew, can you stop being unreasonable? When did I promise you? Hurry back.”
“No.” Drew grabbed Eric’s arm. Her originally domineering expression quickly became pitiful. “I already sent my assistant away. You wouldn’t feel safe letting a little girl like me go home alone, would you? What if I run into bad people? They’ll drag me into a corner and rape me before killing me.”
Eric had already built up considerable immunity to Drew’s cheat-like, maxed-out face-changing skill, so he remained unmoved. “No, they won’t. I’m very relieved letting you go home alone. Hurry and leave. I’m tired after working all day and want to go home to rest.”
Seeing that acting pitiful was completely useless, Drew’s eyes shifted. She raised both hands and messed up her blond hair, pulled down the strap of her little tank top, and lightly scratched the tender white skin on her chest with her small claws. Several red marks quickly appeared. Then she raised her head and looked at Eric, her big eyes blinking, already watery with tears.
“If you still don’t agree, I’ll sit on the ground and shout for help. I believe the Los Angeles police will give a pervert who sexually harasses underage girls a deep lesson.”
Eric covered his forehead and vigorously rubbed his throbbing temples.
Great Sage, please hurry and show your power. Subdue this little demon causing chaos!
Bang.
Eric gloomily slammed the car door hard, inserted the key, started the car, and asked Drew, who was sitting in the passenger seat, “Fine, you win, Drew. Tell me, where are we going?”
“Mastro’s. I want steak.”
“As you wish, Your Majesty. By the way, where is Mastro’s?”
Drew first looked at Eric with disdain, then suddenly said enthusiastically, “How about I drive?”
“Forget it. I don’t want trouble from the police. Hurry and tell me the address, or I’ll pick a place at random.”
Drew pouted and gave the restaurant’s address. Eric drove toward the destination.
