The Truth Game Unfolds
Before heading into the lodging, we stopped by a nearby convenience store and dumped armfuls of snacks and drinks onto the floor. The other group members stared in stunned silence.
Yoo Ra grinned, the corner of her mouth curling up. “Alright, everyone. We brought snacks and booze. Just so you know, Jang Hansol paid for all of it, so say thank you.”
“Whoa! Vice leader, you’re the best! I knew we could count on you!”
“No way, there’s whiskey too? This is insane!”
The group cheered as they eyed the alcohol we’d brought. After hearing from Yoo Ra that there was a convenience store nearby, I’d grabbed everything in sight with my own money, partly to apologize for being gone so long.
“Hansol oppa… didn’t you spend way too much?” Lee Ha-neul asked, holding the ice cream I’d bought her with a worried look.
I’d told her to pick the most expensive thing, and she’d gone for the priciest Häagen-Dazs in the store. It was expensive for ice cream, sure, but compared to what I’d done, it still felt cheap. I almost felt guilty. That’s the alpha male rule—never skimp when it comes to my women.
“It’s fine. This kind of spending doesn’t even register.”
Everyone’s faces were already flushed from drinking while we were gone. I was glad they’d started without us. If they’d been waiting, I would’ve felt even worse.
I sat down on the floor to join the drinking session. Yoo Chae-eun, who had already torn open a bag of chips, scooted right up beside me.
“Sol oppa! You suddenly look even more handsome!”
“You said I looked handsome yesterday too.”
“But you look even better today, hehe.”
I’d heard her call me handsome so many times it should’ve gotten old, but there was something about the way she said it—bright and bouncy—that always made me feel good.
Once the four of us who had been paired together for the recreation activity were all together, the atmosphere heated up even more. Members from other groups started drifting into our room too.
“What the hell? Why do you guys have so much booze and food?”
“Our vice leader bought it all. Your group doesn’t have one like him, right?”
“No, so lend him to us! Hansol oppa~ Come play at our lodging!”
“Hey! Why are you trying to steal our vice leader? He’s ours!”
“Share the good stuff! You greedy bastards!”
Even while grumbling, the other members naturally joined in. Why weren’t they going back to their own rooms? More and more people kept crowding into ours—over twenty in total. From that point on, the real drinking party began.
“Hand over all the booze. Let’s mix everything and drink it together.”
“Are you crazy? We’ll be dead tomorrow. But it sounds fun, so I’m in.”
True to form, the guys who loved doing weird shit poured every bottle we’d bought into a big bowl and created some monstrous cocktail.
“Ugh, this is literally just pure alcohol!”
“Who the hell put vodka in here?”
“This guy’s drinking it like it’s nothing.”
I sat there calmly downing the bomb shot while everyone else freaked out. For some reason, a lot of people kept coming up to talk to me—mostly girls.
“Hansol oppa… do you have a girlfriend?”
“Of course he does. Why would you even ask that?”
“I don’t.”
They kept asking for my number, clearly obsessed with whether I was single. Others came over, said something quick, then ran off blushing.
“You were really cool during the recreation earlier, sunbae-nim!”
“Oh, thanks—wait, she’s already gone…?”
It looked like they’d been dared by their own groups to come say something to me. The attention was nice, but the constant repetition was starting to get exhausting.
Yoo Chae-eun, sitting beside me, laughed. “Oppa, you must be tired. The girls won’t stop throwing themselves at you.”
“You know you’re one of them, right?”
“Does it tire you out when I do it?”
She tilted her head cutely, genuinely curious. I chuckled. “No. You never tire me out.”
“Whoa… are you hitting on me right now? That’s totally flirting, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. So when are you gonna start calling me ‘master’ instead of ‘oppa’? You know I’m still waiting for your answer.”
“Pfft—haha! Oppa, seriously… you still haven’t given up? I like calling you oppa, not master. Just make me your girlfriend instead, okay?”
“You haven’t given up either. I’d rather you call me master. I’ll even pay you.”
“Tch… forget it! You’re so cheap, Hansol oppa!”
Yoo Chae-eun turned away and went back to the group of girls. I wished she’d just become my next sex slave already, but it wasn’t going to be that easy.
By ten o’clock, people who couldn’t handle their liquor started passing out. Seniors from each group and student council members began gathering in our room too.
What’s going on?
Yoon Seo-yeon, the senior I’d met before, was among them.
“Excuse me~ I’m Yoon Seo-yeon from the student council~”
She still had that soft voice and gentle smile that made hearts race. Spotting me, she sat down right beside me.
“Hey, Hansol. Having fun?”
“Thanks to you. I appreciate you putting the groups together like I asked.”
“I promised a handsome junior, so of course I delivered. Every time I fight with Kang Seok-ho, I look at the photo I took with you for comfort.”
“Comfort…?”
The conversation lapsed into an awkward silence. “Oh my…? The fact that you react to something like that just shows how young you still are. How naughty.”
“Ah… sorry.”
I took a sip of my drink to hide my embarrassment.
“Cute. Hehe.” Yoon Seo-yeon patted my head. No girl had ever treated me like a cute junior before—it felt strange.
I glanced around, wondering if that guy was nearby and what he looked like.
“Looking for Seok-ho?”
“I was just curious. I heard he’s also on the student council.”
“That dog didn’t come to the MT.”
“Why? Did you two fight again?”
“No, he just ghosts a lot. He’s got a free-spirited personality. Haha…”
Her smile looked lonely as she talked about him. She must have it rough.
“That must be tough.”
“Ah, was it that obvious on my face? Ugh, how embarrassing… on such a fun night too.”
“No, it’s understandable. If I were your boyfriend, I wouldn’t leave you alone like that.”
“……”
Yoon Seo-yeon stared at me, slightly taken aback. Then she smiled and gently pinched my cheek.
“What’s this, what’s this~ Are you trying to comfort me? Planning to snatch me up if I break up with Kang Seok-ho? How adorable~”
She brushed off my flirting with senior-level composure.
Guess one line isn’t enough to get through to her. I hadn’t expected much anyway—it was just to see how she’d react. From what she’d said, though, Kang Seok-ho was clearly trash. Always ghosting, always cheating. I couldn’t understand why she kept dating a guy like that. Being kind and gentle was nice, but her indecisiveness was probably her biggest flaw. No wonder he treated her so badly.
“Yoon Seo-yeon! Stop flirting with Jang Hansol just because Kang Seok-ho isn’t here and move. I’m sitting next to him.”
“Kyaa~ Yoo Ra, you’re so mean~ Still, if it’s you, I’ll give up my spot.”
Yoo Ra easily shooed her away and sat down. “Alright, time for the truth game.”
Everyone had formed a circle without me noticing—student council seniors, group leaders, and the surviving first- and second-years. The seniors’ eyes sparkled like they’d been waiting for this, while the juniors looked clueless.
We’ve been drinking, it’s late… this is obviously that kind of game.
With everyone already drunk, it was inevitable. The truth game began under the seniors’ lead—spin the bottle, and whoever it pointed to had to answer a question.
The bottle spun.
The first victim was one of the male group members.
“Okay, question! Is there anyone here who’s your ideal type?”
Right off the bat, the ideal type question. That was the whole point of truth games, after all.
“Uh… y-yeah, there is…”
“Who? Tell us!”
“Over there… Su-hyeon sunbae-nim…”
“Ooh!”
“Ah, shit…”
Park Su-hyeon, the one pointed out, looked horrified.
“Park Su-hyeon, you’re popular? Do a love shot with your junior!”
“What love shot?! I have a boyfriend!”
Park Su-hyeon tried to refuse, but the drunk crowd wouldn’t listen.
“Love shot!”
“Love shot!”
“Damn it… why’d that guy have to pick me… Fine, let’s just get it over with. Come here.”
Left with no choice, she did the love shot with her junior.
“Whoa~ Park Su-hyeon’s cheating!”
“Hitting on freshmen too. This is your prime, Park Su-hyeon!”
“Shut up! If any of you get picked, I’m not letting it slide!”
They ganged up on her, teasing like it had all been planned. It reminded me of pigeons scattering when someone approaches. Even I felt dizzy just watching.
So this is how the game works.
The game continued. Second spin, third spin… the same pattern repeated until—
“Oh! It’s Jang Hansol!”
The bottle pointed at me.
“What should we ask?”
“Ideal type questions are too boring, right?”
“We need something he’ll have trouble answering.”
“He looks like he could answer anything.”
They took an unusually long time to decide what to ask me. They clearly wanted something difficult, and their intentions were so obvious it was almost scary.
“Okay! I’ve got it!”
The female senior who had spun the bottle spoke up.
“Has he slept with anyone here?”
“Slept with?”
“Don’t play dumb. I’m asking if you’ve had sex with any of the girls here. Hehe.”
“Isn’t the rating jumping way too high all of a sudden?”
“Answer anyway!”
“Yeah! Answer, Jang Hansol!”
The stares were overwhelming. Especially from the girls—seniors and juniors alike—their eyes had changed. Yoo Ra and Lee Ha-neul already knew the answer but still looked secretly expectant. Yoon Seo-yeon, Yoo Chae-eun, and even Lee Ye-rin, sitting a little farther away, were listening closely.
At least that’s a relief. They hadn’t asked how many girls I’d slept with. They clearly didn’t think I’d already slept with any of the university girls here—the semester had barely started. They should’ve pushed the question a little further, sunbae-nim.
“I have.”
“Really? So one of the girls here has already slept with you?”
“Who?! Who the hell is it?! Which lucky bitch?!”
“You only get one question, sunbae. Spin the bottle again.”
“Ugh… just you wait. If you get picked again, I’m asking exactly who it is.”
“Hey, you don’t even need to ask. It’s obvious just by looking. It’s Ye-rin.”
All eyes immediately shifted from me to Lee Ye-rin. Everyone here knew she was my ex. They assumed the girl I’d slept with was her.
“Ye-rin, is it you…?”
I’d been thinking of Yoo Ra and Lee Ha-neul when I answered, but now someone else was getting dragged into it. Both Yoo Ra and Lee Ha-neul looked slightly flustered.
They’re pretending not to care, but they probably wanted the misunderstanding to happen. I don’t even need to look to know.
The real problem was Lee Ye-rin… After dating me for two hundred days, she’d never let me touch her body. She’d even shown psychological resistance to the idea. Given her personality, if she was accused of sleeping with a guy, she’d normally deny it furiously. But instead, she tucked her hair behind her ear and gave a seductive smile.
“Hmm. No comment.”
That smile sent a massive shockwave through everyone in the room.
