Prologue (Revised)
Prologue
A pointless post, scribbled out after reading a romance fantasy with a Demon King in it. Pure garbage.
And fittingly enough for a garbage post, the garbage responses came rolling in.
The reactions I'd hoped for were satisfying enough that I just snickered myself to sleep. That was all I did.
"Have you awakened, Demon King?"
"The Demon King has finally revived!"
"This is the day we've waited for! The day the revived Demon King unleashes a bloodstorm of vengeance!"
"Kill them! Let's slaughter every last one of them, side by side with the Demon King!!"
The most vicious, grotesque-looking creatures imaginable were cheering as they stared at me.
But as it turned out, those idiot demons hadn't pulled off a resurrection or a possession — they'd botched it into a simple transfer.
And my demonic power? Sitting at zero.
I'd been fully expecting to lose my head, helpless to do anything about it — but then the power of the System granted me my Faction.
All I did was lean on that Faction. That was all.
"You've only grown stronger over these thousand years... Stronger through your fury at the humans who sealed you away..."
"So the protagonist of this world has changed."
"The peace of the Empire is entirely your doing. Soon, the Empire itself will be yours."
Out of nowhere, everyone was hailing me as some great sovereign.
And as if that weren't enough,
"The Demon King I've looked up to since the day I was born... the Demon King so mighty he could bring the world to ruin... praising me...! I'm so happy I can't hold back my tears...!"
"There is only one I will ever serve as master. If you would approach that one, strike me down first."
"You who saved all that I am. I swear my eternal loyalty to you."
"Please, be my master forever, Demon King."
Somehow, I'd picked up a collection of obsessives.
To escape this ridiculous world, I had to reach the ending as quickly as possible.
And for that...
'Handle everything the heroine was supposed to do in her place, wipe out every last one of those male-lead candidates who were half out of their minds with obsession over her, set the heroine up with the true male lead, and then seal myself — the final mastermind — away with my own two hands?'
It was doable.
After all, I had the power of the Faction the System had given me.
So the plan was perfect.
The plan was.
