I Just Wanted to Play Games Together (3)
“Ah, whatever. I’m carrying this one.”
Having realized that the enemy top laner on Aetrox was that grim-reaper-like Jason from the previous game, Yu Dahye waited for the Rift with fire in her eyes.
“Huh?”
Dahye quickly typed MomBeHappy into the match-history search bar.
“……What is this?”
Looking at the record, finding a red loss was nearly impossible. A pure, deranged win streak. And in every single game he had put up MVP-level performances.
Viewers who had fully transformed into detective mode started piecing together his identity at lightning speed. One thing was certain: this was absolutely not a normal player.
“Ah…… aaaaagh! So annoying.”
Dahye let out a sigh after seeing the devastating match history. Today’s start had been so good, too. Just looking at the previous game’s insane KDA and damage numbers from that enemy Aetrox was enough to drain her will to fight.
“You can all tell something’s off, right? Everyone, I’m going to personally educate this guy.”
As a pure solo-queue warrior with no black marks except for a chat ban or two, she resolved to punish this vile player herself.
Dahye’s blue-side bot lane was an Ashe–Bard duo. The enemy red-side bot was Varus–Leona. The top matchup was Renekton versus Aetrox. Jungle was Nidalee versus Kindred. Mid was Ahri versus Galio. Composition-wise, Dahye’s blue side was the one that needed to snowball the game a little faster.
“Yes!”
Ahri, who had been showing solid laning, took down Galio with Nidalee’s help. It was the kind of moment that could light a fire under a strong top-side lineup.
“Yeah, yeah, kill him! Kill him!”
Nidalee invaded the jungle. She beat the hell out of Kindred, who had wandered over for a mark, chased her off, monopolized both scuttle crabs, and even stole the enemy raptors on top of it.
“Ah, so close!”
Kindred barely escaped with her life. But Dahye was smiling.
Nidalee exploded in growth, fully leaning into her signature identity. Mid-lane Ahri kept roaming and pressuring everywhere she could.
An enemy has been slain.
DOUBLE KILL!
“Nice! Nice!”
Nidalee ganked bot. Bard’s stun into Ashe’s ultimate filled in the CC Nidalee was missing. Dahye clapped in delight as they successfully wiped the enemy bot duo.
Mid and jungle’s influence started spilling all the way into bot. With Nidalee and Ahri free to roam, and Bard’s roams plus Ashe’s hawkshot giving them wings, blue side was snowballing to perfection.
They even monopolized all six Voidgrubs. The enemy Kindred was barely growing while running for her life from Nidalee.
And once again Ahri took down the enemy Galio. The burst from mid-jungle after Ahri’s charm was something even Galio, the AP-matchup specialist, couldn’t survive.
“Game’s going well.”
Dahye hummed her way back to lane.
“Guys, our Nidalee will handle it just fine.”
Settling into the comfort of a game that was going well, Dahye soothed her chat.
“Oh, nice, nice.”
A pushing wave formed toward top. The enemy Kindred was far away, and Nidalee slipped in toward the top tower. Given Nidalee’s growth and everything she had shown so far, the dive looked like a sure thing.
Renekton popped his ultimate and charged Aetrox.
“Huh?”
Nidalee’s spear barely missed. Then came Aetrox’s desperate thrashing.
In the end, the top-jungle duo took down the enemy Aetrox.
“Ah, damn it!”
But Nidalee, who had forced the kill on Aetrox no matter what, died to the counterplay right along with him. Renekton nearly failed to get out clean as well.
Aetrox’s movement and skillshots kept the dive from being clean, and in the end they came out behind.
“Ah, she shouldn’t have forced that……”
Dahye’s expression darkened. Honestly, it was just one slip after a clean snowball—but after the previous game, she couldn’t help feeling uneasy.
Even if Nidalee had given a shutdown, even if Aetrox had shown absurd carry power last game, it still didn’t look like he could do anything right now.
“Wait wait wait—hold on!”
A skirmish in front of Herald. It started with the enemy Leona’s flash ultimate chaining into Varus’s ult, instantly deleting Nidalee who had been poking out front. An awful teamfight broke open.
An enemy has been slain.
An ally has been slain.
Enemy DOUBLE KILL!
An enemy has been slain.
“How did that guy live?”
Dahye groaned. They failed to finish the nearly-dead enemy Aetrox. It had been a four-versus-five fight, but with a well-fed Ahri and an advantaged bot duo, the final trade settled at three-for-three. They gave jungle, top, and support, and cut down the enemy jungle, mid, and support.
Herald ownership never got decided. But a game that clearly needed to end fast was starting to drag.
An ally has been slain.
IS LEGENDARY!
“Haa……”
They had been setting up for a dragon fight when defeat news came in from in front of their own second tower. Once the laning phase ended, Aetrox had kept crushing Renekton in side-lane trades, and once the growth gap opened, the results started showing.
“No no no no no!”
An ally has been slain.
Enemy DOUBLE KILL!
Enemy TRIPLE KILL!
In the fourth-dragon fight, Aetrox shattered their formation. Ahri, who had burned flash and ultimate dodging a storm of enemy CC, couldn’t hold either—and then the slaughter show continued.
“Ah, fuck!”
They had still been ahead in growth everywhere except top, but after giving a clean ace, Dahye howled.
“……”
Dahye clamped her mouth shut.
“Next game.”
Her voice dropped. She didn’t even put on music—just queued solo rank immediately. Solo queue was addictive precisely because there was always a next one.
“Ah, that bastard for real.”
MomBeHappy. How could such a wholesome nickname be this ugly to look at.
Everyone pretended not to know—and yet they desperately wanted him to be Dahye’s sniper.
“……”
Playing ADC Samira on red side, Dahye scooped two kills right from the start. Against a late-game Kog’Maw–Lulu, she had to stamp them into the ground early.
“Nice, nice.”
The kill score sat at five to one. Of those, Dahye’s Samira had already claimed four.
It was so entertaining that people weren’t leaving—the viewer count only kept climbing. Everyone was waiting for just one thing.
Enemy DOUBLE KILL!
MomBeHappy is unstoppable!
“Ah, for real, cut the bullshit.”
The hero they had all been waiting for—Fiona—began to dominate the game. She solo-killed the enemy Irelia and Lee Sin on a side lane.
Taliyah: Ah we can’t stop this Fiona—
Lee Sin: What do we do? But if we 5v5 we still win—
Irelia: If we hug towers we can hold—
“Hold what, for real—you can’t even play.”
Dahye, who had been trying so hard to keep her temper down, finally snapped. Still, the enemy Kog’Maw was hopelessly behind, and Fiona was a champion weak in teamfights. Their fight potential wasn’t gone yet.
Irelia got solo-killed by Fiona again.
“Hooo……”
The game had already crossed the thirty-minute mark.
“Oh! Oh!”
Red-side Taliyah’s skillshot landed clean. Enemy Syndra died without doing a thing. Allies charged in to clean up.
She didn’t even register that someone who had been dying all game just died again. Enemy Skarner was holding, but they easily found a gap in the Kog’Maw–Lulu.
Showing the power of her gold lead, Dahye’s eyes went wide as she scanned the map. Fiona teleported in.
An ally has been slain.
You have been slain.
Enemy QUADRA KILL!
PENTAKILL!
“……”
Dahye’s jaw dropped. Fiona, who had sniped Irelia’s head on a side lane and then joined, arrived just as they had spent their skills and health on the enemy—and they were massacred without mercy.
The rest of the game went exactly as expected.
Enemy QUADRA KILL!
MomBeHappy is on a rampage!
An enemy has been slain.
Fiona’s absurd bounty came in. Of course, it meant nothing. The enemy took Baron and split their main force from Fiona for the push. Five full-health players had gone out specifically to stop one Fiona—and after killing the enemy warlord, the only one who made it back alive was Taliyah.
“……”
Expressionless, Dahye stared blankly as the enemy main force destroyed the Nexus.
“Haa……”
Taliyah: Irelia please report for abusing—
Alistar: It was so obvious he was feeding on purpose—
Lee Sin: How much do you get for abusing?? I wanna try too—
Irelia: Ah we lost cuz team luck is trash gg—
“Is that guy insane?”
Dahye cursed with her face twisted up. She glanced around here and there, then looked at the screen as if she had made up her mind.
“……I’m done.”
“Huh?”
Delayed by the flood of praise from his teammates, Park Jimin only picked up his phone too late—and never got to watch the stream.
