KJH Is Mine!!!
Kyra Bell Arenas
“You worthless old virgin hags!!! KJH is mine!!!”
“….”
Are you out of your damn mind!!
Is this some kind of joke?
She said she’d only give them a light jab! She said she just needed to grab their attention!
If she acts like this, those lunatics won’t stop at rising to a little bait—they’ll go nuclear!!
“Huuuh… damn it.”
I no longer had the strength to even change my expression. I just stared blankly up at Kyra’s face.
She only looked down at me, shrugging as if to ask what the problem was—as if she hadn’t just executed the plan to absolute perfection.
…Fuck.
I’m going to lose it. For real.
Aaaagh!! Why the hell did I have to let a momentary flash of jealousy drive me into causing this whole mess!
I clutched my hair in both fists and tore at it in pure despair.
“Alright, alright! Enough self-flagellation. Now we get to the real start.”
Of course, Kyra couldn’t have cared less about the hopeless look on my face. She flicked her fingers lightly.
Snap.
“From here on, you’d better keep your head clear. Everyone arrives in exactly one minute. Factoring in the travel speed of Transcendents, if we linger any longer than that, odds are high they won’t even find our bones.”
As she continued explaining, Kyra began drawing another complex geometric pattern across the floor.
It was a transfer magic circle of a far more intricate and covert design than the one that had summoned me here earlier.
“We should get ready to run ourselves. Hold on tight. You might get a little motion-sick.”
The closer the circle came to completion, the faster her hands moved. Every time her silver-gray hair swayed, another circuit of the array locked into place.
I watched her work in a daze—until one fact suddenly slammed into me.
Wait… running doesn’t end this.
Argentina Academy was gone.
That meant the main stage of the story had vanished.
No—once the academy had fallen, the ending itself was far more likely to be a bad one.
But the stage disappearing didn’t mean the actors scheduled to appear would simply stop showing up.
If my memory served, the major events still left before the original ending were stacked mountain-high.
Fine. The rest of those events were for the protagonist anyway. Leon would handle them on his own.
The real problem, though….
Was still the Outer Gods—the ones who wanted nothing less than the destruction of the continent of Rahelon.
Five calamities that had yet to descend.
In the original late-game flow, Leon and the heroines were supposed to hold them off by the skin of their teeth, backed by the academy’s defenses and the professors’ support.
But now? The academy had been vaporized. The faculty were scattered. And Leon and the heroines had almost certainly had their minds completely shattered.
Why shattered? Simple.
I was the one who’d done all the real grunt work, but on the surface, they were the ones who’d protected that academy for over three years, weren’t they?
And then it vanished overnight because of a love letter from some guy named KJH. It would be weirder if their mental states hadn’t collapsed….
No. Focus.
Anyway—if the Outer Gods descended in this state?
Extinction. Straight onto the express train to a bad ending.
No matter how badly I’d screwed up with jealousy clouding my eyes, I didn’t actually want to watch the world end for real.
If I’d wanted to ruin Leon and the heroines’ relationships, I wouldn’t have summoned the Transcendents—I’d have just leaked information to the remaining Apostles.
And more than anything else—
…I still spent three years raising those bastards. I can’t just sit back and watch them die.
Whether it was the fondness that comes from resenting someone, or whether the sucker in me was bone-deep—or whether I simply still loved every lead in that novel—I couldn’t say. But the feeling was there.
Which left me with only one thing I could do in this situation.
I bit down hard on my lip and slowly opened my mouth.
“Headmaster.”
“Hm? What is it? Want some motion-sickness medicine?”
Kyra looked up mid-drawing.
I met her eyes with complete seriousness.
“I don’t know why you’ve stayed completely out of the fights with the Outer Gods until now and just watched… but I can’t do that.”
“…Hmm?”
“I have to stop every last Outer God. There are still five of them left, and if they come down, this continent is finished.”
“…….”
Kyra’s hand paused for a beat. Her pupils curved with interest.
I seized the opening and pressed on.
“I understand that right now we have to get out of here and escape those angry… ladies. The Transcendents. But promise me something.”
“Promise you what?”
“Please—when the time comes for each of them—help me deal with the Outer Gods, starting now. With your power… it should be more than possible.”
“…….”
Kyra fell silent for a moment. Her four-colored hair stirred in a room without wind.
Then she spoke, a bitter smile on her lips.
“Student Erevan. I think you’re laboring under a misunderstanding.”
“…Pardon?”
“I wanted to intervene. I just couldn’t.”
“…What do you mean by that? You’re a Transcendent and you still couldn’t?”
“Exactly what I said. In this world… there’s something like an invisible chain that binds out-of-spec beings like us.”
She pointed a finger at empty air—as if someone far above were looking down on everything that was happening.
“To put it more precisely: when the world wants something a certain way, we can’t do a thing. The second we try to step in and resolve an incident ourselves, the world twists under the name of causality. So I just watched. Even when it drove me out of my mind with frustration.”
Deep regret flickered through her eyes.
But only for a moment. She grinned again and drew the final stroke of the magic circle.
“But… the situation’s a little different now.”
“Different how?”
“A variable named you showed up.”
Kyra rose and gave my shoulder a light clap.
“First we run, then we talk. Now that an unpredictable variable like you exists, it won’t be able to bind me—no, bind us—anymore.”
“A variable? What on earth does that even—”
It made no sense. But there was no time left for leisurely questions and conversation.
Because a heart-crushing, spine-crawling pressure was rising again from somewhere out there.
And as if to prove I wasn’t imagining it—
KWAANG—!!!
In an instant, the ceiling tore open like paper. With a thunderous roar, the entire roof of the ruined building we stood in was ripped away.
And through that torn-open sky—
Thud! Thunk! Crunch!
Three colossal golden arrows—Heavenly Bow shafts—slammed into the floor right beside us.
The impact made the whole building shudder as if an earthquake had hit. Then, through the billowing dust, a woman’s figure appeared, wrapped in a dazzling golden radiance.
“Kyra Bell Arenas….”
A voice cold as frost.
The Empress of the Roelina Empire. Serene Roelina.
She floated high in the air, nocking a fresh arrow to her bowstring as she looked down on us. Her eyes were full of the killing intent she only showed when annihilating enemies of the Empire.
“You dare… intercept the man this one has marked as her own?”
“……!!”
And it didn’t end with her alone.
The sky behind Serene split wide, and the enormous roots of the World Tree writhed down like serpents. Beside them, the aura of a pitch-black moon—dark as night in broad daylight—swallowed the heavens. On the opposite side, the head of a vast dragon, platinum scales flashing, thrust through the clouds.
One minute? One minute??
One minute my ass—it hasn’t even been thirty seconds!
The pressure pouring from four Transcendents at once began to choke the breath from my lungs.
“Uh, Headmaster?! They’re here?! They’re actually here?!”
“I know! Which is why you need to shut up for a second!”
Kyra shouted urgently, pouring mana into the magic circle.
But as if they had no intention of letting us go, four calamities poured down from the sky at once.
A rain of Heavenly Bow arrows.
The World Tree’s bombardment.
The Demon King’s black flash.
A dragon’s breath.
“Whoa….”
The second those hit, we would vaporize without leaving bones behind. That much was obvious.
…I’m dead. Fucking hell—you came here looking for me!! And now you’re trying to kill me too?
Convinced there was no way we were surviving this, I squeezed my eyes shut.
And then, in the instant I thought this was how I died—
Fwoooosh—!!
A wave of searing heat erupted right beside me.
I cracked an eye open. Kyra’s hair had transformed into a blazing, furious red, thrashing like living flame.
No silver-gray. No gold. Nothing but the perfect shape of Anger.
Without a shred of hesitation, she thrust her right hand toward the cascading attacks of the Transcendents.
Then she clenched her fist—and threw what could only be called a knuckle sandwich.
“Kyahahahaha!!!”
A laugh full of pure madness rang out between the falling calamities.
She faced the oncoming disasters head-on and roared from a throat corded with veins.
“See you later, losers!!!”
“!!!”
Wooooom—!
With Kyra’s second wide-area taunt, the magic circle on the floor began to pour out a light so intense it threatened to blind us.
“I’m monopolizing KJH all by myself! Bleh, you bitches!! You can just keep spinning your spiderwebs!!”
“Please just stop talking…!”
KRAAAAAANG—!!!
In the instant the four Transcendents’ attacks slammed into where we had been standing—
Kyra and I had already been sucked into the light and vanished.
And the four Transcendents, staring down at the empty space that, mere moments ago, had held Kyra Bell Arenas and KJH—
“…Ha. Ahaha!! You dare toy with me? Kyra Bell Arenas—very well. I shall accept your challenge.”
“Interesting. To think she’d use her privileges as academy headmaster to find KJH faster than anyone else… The faint scent I caught was similar to what lingered on the letter, so it seems certain he is KJH.”
“You insolent little psychopath. First you steal the title of Avatar of Rage right in front of the master of the Demon Realm—and now you steal my fiancé as well? Amusing. Very amusing.”
“How dare you snatch this one’s toy? And a knuckle sandwich on top of it? A crime worth dying a hundred times over.”
Each of them reacted differently, and yet somehow the same. They glanced at one another’s faces for a moment—then nodded as one.
“It seems we should finish teaching that arrogant wretch a lesson before we resume our fight.”
