Jackpot
I walked over to a nearby door and examined it. It was just an ordinary door. There was no way to guess what lay behind it from appearance alone. A flashy door could hide a complete garbage trial, while a door that looked ready to fall apart might contain an absolute gem. Of course, even if the trial itself was easy, that didn't guarantee a good reward. An easy trial could still come with a mediocre payout. The outcome was completely unpredictable.
But was it truly pure randomness? I stood on the hill looking down below and thought for a moment. That's when I spotted a user opening a door and stepping inside. The moment the user entered, the door vanished.
"So you can't enter the same one twice?"
I was about to open a random door when I decided to check the community first. I was curious how everyone else was holding up.
Just as I'd expected, the community was in total chaos. It had only just opened, so the frenzy was natural. But it was on fire in every possible sense. Every refresh buried the previous posts under a flood of new ones. An insane number of users were already spamming the forums.
I scrolled through the flaming community for a bit before clicking on one of the top posts.
What? Random customization? A million won per roll? Only ten free tries? No free resets even if you delete your character? Are these bastards actually insane? Fuck, it's so ridiculous I feel like I'm about to shit myself. Where the hell did they sell their conscience?
Three rolls and that's my entire monthly salary, you sons of bitches. Even if it's gacha, they should at least let you customize your character however you want, you crazy bastards. Fine, let's call this one tiny flaw among all the god-tier features and move on. My head feels like it's going to explode but I'll overlook it.
But what the fuck is this stats gacha? You motherfuckers with tumors for brains. Did you actually grow brain cancer? This is also a million won per try? And there's no ten free rolls or anything—it's just a hard limit of ten tries total?
I've been perfectly healthy until now, but I think I'm starting to understand how high blood pressure patients feel.
Even thinking about those things separately is already dogshit, but the real kicker is the character creation order. Customization → Class Selection → Stats. This sequence proves that Tyche is run by demons possessed by actual devils.
Looking at this, stats come after class selection. It's not distribute your stats and then pick a class. Fuck, are there people who still don't get it even after hearing this? Let me explain it in one shot.
[Vitality: 4] [Mana: 10] [Strength: 3] [Agility: 5] [Intelligence: 17] [Durability: 3] [Resistance: 1] [Stamina: 3] [Luck: 4]
These are my stats. Looking at the numbers alone, it's a wizard with god-tier stats gacha, right? But check the order again. Stats come after class selection. By now you can guess what I'm getting at, can't you?
My class is Warrior. A warrior with 17 intelligence, you bastards. It's basically a mage who can't use magic. Fuck. What's the difference between this and a physical-law mage? Or should I just call it a magic warrior?
If the stats gacha had come before class selection, I could've picked a class that actually matched my stats. But because class comes first, it's pure luck. When you get screwed this badly, you have no choice but to reroll. While dumping a million won each time, lololol.
And even that has a ten-try limit attached. Even rich guys burning a million per roll can still get completely fucked because of the cap. That's ten million won flushed down the toilet in seconds. With nine different stats, the chance of getting completely screwed over is extremely high. The probability of hitting exactly what you want is practically zero, fuck.
While making this character I realized something. These Tyche bastards are definitely insane for money. They're desperate to squeeze back every penny they spent developing the Capsule Super AI Black Dragon Legend. I bet at least ten users have already died from high blood pressure by now.
This kind of game is supposed to be god-tier? This? Fuck, I absolutely refuse to accept it. Tyche and Utoplay, you fucking bastards, I hope you step in dog shit, slip, and smash your noses, you sons of bitches.
It was literally on fire. The users were burning with rage. Just as I'd predicted during my own character creation, everyone was extremely worked up—mostly in a bad way.
'The structure really is quite evil.'
It was a relief that I didn't need to bother with customization, but I could see why people who did were losing their minds. While scrolling through the flaming posts, one in the middle caught my eye.
"Hmm... Doors with numbers..."
I checked the surrounding doors one by one. On the fourth door, I spotted a number.
"This is it."
The door had 7/7 written on it.
'That means the capacity is seven people.'
I kept browsing the community while thinking it over. No reviews had been posted yet. Since I'd arrived here pretty quickly, it would probably take a while for feedback to start appearing.
"Should I wait while reading shitposts?"
For now I decided to look around and see what kinds of doors were available. I ignored doors without numbers and searched for ones that had them.
4/4, 14/15, 20/20, 7/8, 5/6.
Since there still weren't many users at level 5, it looked like it would take quite a while for the rooms to fill.
'Later on when people get frustrated, will they start yelling like they're recruiting party members?'
Looking for 3 people! Just one more and we're good!!
4 spots left in the 15-person room!
Found a fancy door that looks like it has good rewards!
I could already picture the future.
'Maybe I should grab a door and start advertising too.'
With that thought I continued wandering in search of numbered doors. But I was so focused on the doors that I tripped over something.
"Whoa...!!"
Unfortunately the spot where I fell was on a pretty steep slope, so I rolled all the way down.
Roll, roll, thud!
After tumbling for a while I finally stopped after crashing into a door.
"Ow..."
It hurt. Moments like this made me regret lowering the pain limit. Even at thirty percent of real pain, pain was still pain.
I brushed myself off and stood up. Only then did I notice my surroundings. It was dark. The area had been bright until just a moment ago, but down here light barely reached. There weren't many doors around either.
"It'd be hard to come down here... Huh...?"
Like how people naturally gravitate toward light, I turned my head toward the brighter area when I noticed something. It was hard to see in the darkness so I moved closer.
"A cave?"
There was a cave. It was a small one, easy to miss because the surroundings were so dark. It looked like a single person could barely squeeze inside.
Whenever I saw caves like this I always wanted to go in. So with my heart beating a little faster, I wriggled my way into the narrow passage.
Inside, faintly glowing crystal-like objects emitted a green light, so visibility was better than I'd expected.
Surprisingly, the cave was quite deep. I advanced slowly. How far had I gone? It felt like about five minutes of walking. The narrow path gradually widened, and soon an incredibly spacious cavern appeared.
I looked around in slight surprise. Calming my pounding heart, I moved toward the center of the cavern when I saw something glowing. As I got closer, I could tell exactly what it was.
It was a large door made entirely of gold. And right in the center of that golden door was the number 1. Not even 1/1—just 1.
Anyone who saw it would immediately know this wasn't an ordinary door.
"...Jackpot."
