The Legend of GranKaios
A month had passed since Utoplay uploaded that video.
Just as they had promised, the game’s information was finally revealed to the public.
The name of the game everyone had been waiting for was…
Looking at the title first, GranKaios seemed to be the name of the black dragon that appeared at the end of that short video.
The world setting could be summarized roughly like this…
In the distant past, an evil dragon named Black Dragon GranKaios tried to destroy the world.
GranKaios was so overwhelmingly powerful that it nearly brought total ruin to the entire planet.
Countless nations fell because of him, and an uncountable number of people lost their lives.
Yet heroes from every nation and race, along with the benevolent dragons, united as one to stand against GranKaios.
Even so, GranKaios was simply too strong.
Most of the heroes couldn’t withstand his terrifying power and fell. In the end, the few remaining mighty heroes and dragons sacrificed their own lives to barely manage to defeat him.
Thanks to the sacrifice of those heroes and good dragons who fought against GranKaios, peace finally returned to the world.
And then, a thousand long years passed.
That was the gist of it.
The moment I read that on the brand-new GranKaios official homepage Utoplay had opened, I thought one thing.
“That thing’s one hundred percent coming back.”
A black dragon that died a thousand years ago?
If that bastard doesn’t resurrect, the whole thing’s gotta be rigged.
As soon as information about GranKaios was released, every single community exploded like it was festival season.
The Full-Dive VR Game Gallery and the Fortuna Divergence Gallery in particular had turned into absolute madhouses of excitement.

An evil dragon that tried to destroy the world after being dead for a thousand years?
And the game title is literally that evil dragon’s name?
If he doesn’t resurrect, that would be way weirder, right?
Not long after the information on The Legend of GranKaios was revealed, Tyche dropped another bombshell.
They announced it like this:
“We have finally created a Super AI.”
And that they had used this Super AI technology in the development of The Legend of GranKaios.
They declared with absolute confidence:
“Users will be unable to distinguish between the game’s NPCs and real human beings.”
Thanks to that announcement, Tyche’s stock price—which had already been shooting up sharply—began an endless, runaway surge.
And in this situation, one of the places cheering the loudest was none other than the Stock Gallery.
Just go kill yourselves lol
Making money is this easy and you’re still hesitating lol
Can’t understand the situation?
Tyche is literally handing out money.
They’re scooping it up with shovels and throwing it around lol
They’re offering to give away free money with a damn shovel,
yet the idiots who still won’t buy Tyche,
what the hell are you?
Why are you even alive?
What are you thinking while living?
lol Especially in this situation,
the salarymen who go to work saying they’ll “make money,”
the self-employed bastards who open up their shops,
stop fucking around.
Do you really think living honestly is the answer?
While you’re all living honestly,
the people who bought Tyche are just receiving free money.
They’re literally creating money out of thin air.
I don’t even feel like explaining anymore because it’s so frustrating,
but I’ll give you one warning.
Salarymen, self-employed bastards, if you keep pretending to “work hard” or acting “smart” in front of me,
I’ll just beat the shit out of you and slap you silly.
Compensation? I’ll just get it from Tyche.
Lawyer? Tyche will pay for that too.
I am invincible.
Tyche is “God.”
Since Tyche handed it to us, we gotta spend it accordingly.
Time flew by quickly. Only one month remained until the official service launch of The Legend of GranKaios.
My friends and I were hanging out at Kang Yu-ri’s house.
“They’ll be delivered tomorrow morning,”
Kang Yu-ri said.
The item she was talking about was the Fortuna Divergence Mk-2.
It was the high-end version of the Full-Dive VR machine, commonly known as the capsule.
People usually called it the FD Capsule, taking the first letters from Fortuna Divergence.
This was the second version.
So it was being called the FD Capsule 2.
The performance had been greatly improved, and many useful new features had been added.
What I liked most was that the previous model—called the FD Capsule 1—would start blaring warning messages after twelve hours of play and forcibly disconnect you five minutes later.
Getting kicked out right when you were having the most fun was incredibly annoying.
Of course, I understood why the restriction existed.
Without it, people might neglect their health and end up in real danger.
But with the FD Capsule 2, we no longer had to worry about that annoying problem.
It automatically managed your health by administering various nutrients, just like an IV drip at the hospital.
If any health issues were detected, it would send a warning.
If the user was in genuine danger, it would even automatically call 911 for you.
It even handled waste disposal, so you could stay inside the capsule for extremely long periods.
Because it was such an amazing product, the price was high enough to make you call for your mom and dad.
Yet Kang Yu-ri had decided to give these insanely expensive machines to me and all our friends for free.
Orders opened at noon tomorrow, but she said delivery would arrive in the morning.
“Thanks.”
“Hmph. If you’re thankful, then treat me better from now on.”
“Yeah…”
Still, you’re not an adult yet.
“I bet that guy is still thinking you’re a minor or something, Yu-ri.”
Jo Kwang-hoon butted in at that moment.
Now that we were older, he really did look a lot like Zoro.
But his personality was nothing like that cool-as-hell character.
When I told him he’d get popular if he worked out, he actually started training like a madman.
“Oh Sung-woon, in my royal opinion, you seem pathologically averse to minors. Is it not merely a one-year difference?”
That one-year difference is fucking huge, you idiot.
Gil Young-woong was staring at me with eyes that said I was the weird one.
This guy still hadn’t recovered from his “illness” at all.
At this point, if he suddenly became normal it would actually feel disappointing.
“I think it’s cool how he treats me so preciously!”
The girl who had been nonstop devouring—no, inhaling—the expensive desserts the maid kept bringing out since earlier.
A girl with short pink hair and an absolutely monstrous appetite.
She had a cute face and was on the short side, but where the hell did all that food go?
“Preciously? Ahaha…! I know, Sung-woon is holding himself back so much. Right, baby?”
The slightly tanned gyaru-looking girl with white hair who was smiling at me seductively.
You could basically just call her a gyaru.
She wasn’t Japanese—she was Korean.
The food fighter Pinky was Hong Ha-roo, and the K-gyaru Whitey was Baek Do-hee.
Both of them had become friends with Kang Yu-ri back in their first year of high school.
She had gotten close with Hong Ha-roo right away, but Baek Do-hee’s case was a little different.
Because this gyaru girl…
had once confessed to me.
