Prologue: The Zero Gap
A proof of nonexistence may reach 99.9999 percent. It can never arrive at 100.
No matter how high you stack the evidence.
"No. It might still exist somewhere we simply do not know."
That single sentence is enough. The remaining 0.0001 percent of possibility overturns every proof.
And what of a proof of existence?
In demonology, it is no different.
No matter how high you stack the evidence.
"Is that so? Then show me."
That single sentence is enough. The remaining 0.0001 percent of doubt overturns every proof.
And so the demonologists define it.
Existence, and nonexistence.
The last 0.0001 percent that keeps every proof from ever reaching 100.
The Zero Gap.
That gulf, forever out of reach, is the greatest unsolved problem in demonology—a chasm that no mind among living humanity can ever cross.
KRA-KOOM—!
"———I want you, I want you, I want you!! I'll hack off your arms and legs and keep you beside me for the rest of my life, tear your skull open and pry into every last corner of what's inside—!!"
"You crazy bitch...!"
I stared at the beautiful white-haired demon of knowledge, those crazed eyes boring into me, and the page I had read on the wiki came rushing back.
...Fuck.
Right. I was now the human who had come closest to that hundred percent.
I had become the lunatic extra who could bewitch even a demon.
