Dementia Treatment
Dementia Treatment
"Wow..."
I was able to walk around the spaceship... no, the Medical Ship with the woman. It was huge. It took hours of walking to see it all. However, most of its functions were unusable.
"Does this Medical Ship have, like, planet-destroying cannons?"
I was reminded of the sci-fi movies I'd seen. The ones where a massive spaceship fires a laser and blows up a giant planet in one shot. It was a common scene in sci-fi movies capable of interstellar travel. And it even appeared in that famous game, "Star Wars."
However, contrary to my expectations, the woman shook her head and said,
"We do not possess such weapons. This vessel is a Medical Ship. It is not equipped with offensive weaponry."
Just as there are no weapons on medical ships in reality, it seemed to be the same here. I wanted to see a weapon from the future, too... but hearing my words, the woman brought up something else.
"Do you perhaps wish to exterminate humanity?"
"Huh? Is that possible?"
"Yes. You can create and release a virus. You just need to set the incubation period to about one year and spread it through the air. It would be an asymptomatic virus with a 100% mortality rate."
"Uh?"
I asked back after hearing that. But the woman's answer was the same. Since it's a medical ship, maybe it could create viruses...
I couldn't help but be horrified. If you listened to her, humanity really could be wiped out. To begin with, if they were aliens with the technology to float a massive Medical Ship in this space, it was entirely possible.
"No, absolutely do not make that."
How would I live alone? And I'm a human too; I could get infected by the virus. What fun would there be in living on Earth all by myself? Humans are social animals. We absolutely cannot live alone.
People living in this era might say, "I can live alone just fine!" but that's only because they communicate via smartphones and the internet.
If you just threw someone into an empty room with nothing, they wouldn't even last a week before shedding tears and begging for forgiveness.
The woman nodded.
That was how I was able to grasp the general state of the Medical Ship.
I looked at the glowing Earth outside the Medical Ship and said,
"I want to be rich."
"Rich, you say?"
"Yeah. The overwhelming number one."
Maybe it was because I grew up in a poor household, but I had a yearning to be rich. However, until now, I had no choice but to live an ordinary life. It wasn't like I had the talent or intelligence to shake up the world.
But now, seeing this Medical Ship, I could be sure. I could become the richest person on Earth. And it was definitely possible. The medical technology of the year 9999 made no sense. In a way, it was like performing magic.
Who was it that said it?
That primitive people would have no choice but to consider our era's technology as magic. Seeing the existence of smartphones that can call anywhere, and the way machines move, I could see that those primitive people's thoughts weren't wrong.
If I used the technology of this Medical Ship, it was entirely possible. If I suddenly used high-technology, people might think it was strange. So, I had to do it without arousing suspicion from others.
I had to establish a foundation to some extent, and then roll out the innovative technology. Because treasure that you can't protect can put the owner's life in danger.
Of course, that would be the case if I were the CEO. If I didn't step out to the front, there would be no need for that. Someone else would take the risk. Thinking about it again, I figured it would be fine to develop an innovative treatment.
I mean, it wasn't a weapon that would exterminate people or anything like that.
"Hey... no, I need to decide on a name..."
I couldn't just call her "Hey" forever, could I? Hearing my words, the woman said,
"Please decide, Captain-nim."
I pondered. To think the time would come for me to name someone else... It's not like I'm having a child or anything.
"A Korean name. Let's go with Soyeon, okay?"
"Yes, understood."
I nodded.
The first person I met on this Medical Ship. No, not a person—should I say a person made of foam?
It's not like she's Aphrodite from mythology...
And so, I was able to return home. I also received a tool that would allow me to re-enter the Medical Ship. It looked like a button, and she said that no matter where I was, I could just press it to return to the Medical Ship.
And so, winter break arrived. I had more time. I went in and out of the spaceship.
I decided to call it a spaceship from now on. Calling it a Medical Ship felt a bit off.
Most of the spaceship's functions were turned off. Should I say it was a choice to conserve energy to maintain the spaceship? The spaceship's energy was currently being replenished by solar heat. However, perhaps because the spaceship was so large, it was only maintaining its basic functions.
She said if I wanted to use other functions, I would need to bring in other energy sources.
I wasn't satisfied with just Soyeon.
I used the incubation capsules to create 100 people. I wanted to create 1,000, 10,000, but there were no materials. 100 was the number of people I could create at most.
I made half men and half women. Their appearances were ordinary. Should I say they looked like people you'd commonly see on the street?
"Greetings, Captain-nim."
"Yeah, I'm counting on you."
To think 100 people were looking only at me...! I didn't know why, but this was the taste of power. The 100 people were scattered across South Korea. Fortunately, obtaining identities wasn't difficult.
I used the cyber network technology on the spaceship. I created 100 identities in South Korea. Of course, the power was turned off after that.
"Can this hack other places, too?"
"Unfortunately, it is impossible with the current Medical Ship functions. There is insufficient energy."
How would things have changed if it were a spaceship equipped with weapons? Just imagining a spaceship performing orbital bombardment was thrilling. But I decided to keep that as just a thought. If it actually happened, humanity would fall into complete chaos.
With the current technology of humanity, we couldn't even properly launch a projectile into space, let alone a spaceship like this.
The 100 Cultured Humans worked hard at part-time jobs.
The men did manual labor, and the women worked at logistics centers. It felt like I had become the owner of a manpower agency managing 100 workers. Furthermore, these Cultured Humans didn't grumble, nor did they suddenly go AWOL. They worked silently.
Moreover, the best part was that their energy efficiency was excellent. Eating one meal a day was enough. Plus, they returned to this spaceship to sleep. With food and housing—two of the three necessities of life—covered, money came pouring in.
"Wow!"
After working hard for a month without skipping weekends, an enormous amount of money was collected. If you assume one person receives 100,000 won in daily wages, that meant collecting 10 million won a day. 300 million won was collected in a month.
However, it was too cost-inefficient to just do manual labor.
And so, with some money collected, a foundation was laid.
"Then, I'm counting on you. I don't really know how to do this."
"Understood, Captain-nim. Do not worry."
Soyeon was very smart. She was different from the other Cultured Humans.
The Cultured Humans lacked a bit of basic common sense and concepts. But as time passed, they improved a lot. Even if a primitive person were dropped into modern society, they could sufficiently adapt to this culture after spending about a month.
"Now, we will begin research."
And so, Jaeseong Bio was launched. I set up an office in Seoul. And I also prepared a factory for deception.
It was a pharmaceutical company that started with a capital of 300 million won.
In terms of the amount, it was a ridiculously small capital. A pharmaceutical company with this much capital? Anyone who saw it would think it was a paper company.
Soyeon was standing inside the office.
The Cultured Humans were also working hard to assist Soyeon's tasks. There were 100 people. It was the size of a mid-sized company. Moreover, the Cultured Humans moved efficiently. They were different from modern humans who were exhausted or tired.
"Hmm..."
Soyeon decided to go strong from the beginning.
As a result of looking into South Korea, it was a primitive society, but there was still some social order. Even if it wasn't another country, there wouldn't be anything strange about releasing a groundbreaking treatment in Korea.
And although she hadn't told the Captain, she could add a special additive to the treatment that Genesis was currently creating.
It was an additive that prevented other pharmaceutical companies from creating copycat drugs. With the technology of this era, other pharmaceutical companies could not copy the drugs that Jaeseong Bio created. Even if they looked at the drug and tried to copy it, they would only end up creating strange drugs with no effect.
Jaeseong Bio could create a dementia treatment.
