Prologue
Back in middle school, I lost my parents in a car accident. Ever since, I've been living a perfectly ordinary life off the house and inheritance they left behind. That's me in a nutshell. Losing them taught me that death is way closer than you'd think—it strikes without warning, fair and square for everyone...
"Fuck, this is so goddamn unfair I could lose my mind."
Sure, after getting discharged from the army and before heading back to school, I'd been grinding nothing but trash games, living like a total beast. But come on, did I really deserve to drop dead from a heart attack mid-chicken bite?
"Ha... I thought my new life was kicking off after discharge."
While I stood there in that pure white void, spacing out and bitching about my shitty luck, a man suddenly appeared right in front of me.
"Sorry about that. You weren't the target—someone else was supposed to die. I killed you by mistake."
What the hell?
