Footsteps echoed through the dark alley that no light reached.
The man buried in the darkness hurriedly turned around. There stood a blonde girl emanating light.
“Finally found you.”
The girl, Rachel, smiled brightly with her blue eyes shining. Her pure white uniform was caked in dirt and filth, but her expression was cheerful.
She had been searching for that Black Sorcerer. The one who incited rebellion, sparked wars, drenched this land in blood, and tried to summon the Demon King.
It had taken her a very long time to reach this point.
“You're the bitch who's been getting in my way all this time!”
The Black Sorcerer shouted in a furious voice. Rachel thought to herself that those were words he should be saying.
However, she didn't prattle on at length in front of an enemy.
While Rachel stayed silent, the Black Sorcerer growled in a deeply enraged voice.
“How the hell did you figure out all my plans? If it weren't for you, I could've become the ruler of this world, urk!”
“Talk too much.”
At that, the large burly man standing behind her lunged forward and kicked the Black Sorcerer.
“Deyner, Sis is in the middle of a conversation.”
“You said you'd grant me a title if I catch this guy. I just wanna finish him quick and go home.”
“I agree. Rachel, there's no need to hear any more from this creep.”
The large, bronze-haired man who had kicked the Black Sorcerer was followed by a silver-haired man who spoke up.
“He says so. Still, you look awfully curious, so I'll give you exactly three words: well, diligently, with utmost effort!”
The Black Sorcerer before her eyes would never know. How she had managed to track him down.
“So, will you come quietly now? Mr. Black Sorcerer. If you don't like that, should I call you by your real name?”
At the name that left Rachel's lips, the Black Sorcerer flinched.
Seizing that opening, the silver-haired man rushed forward and swung his sword.
But pure white bones erupted from the ground, blocking his blade.
“The time has come! Kakia, Asebes, Abysos, Duro.”
The Black Sorcerer spat those words and began chanting the incantation.
Though he hadn't gathered enough sacrifices to summon the Demon King, the blood he had spilled up to now was considerable. It was more than enough for the Black Sorcerer to pull off his scheme.
“We have to stop him!”
At Rachel's urgent cry, the two men charged toward the Black Sorcerer.
However, an evil energy swirled into a vortex, blanketing the sky.
