Definitely An A-Rank
As Department Head Pyeon had said, one more day of thinking about it didn’t change a thing.
If anything, Song Hoon’s resolve only hardened.
“Haa... Fine. If that’s what you’ve decided, then there’s nothing I can do.”
Department Head Pyeon accepted the resignation letter, let out a deep sigh, and got up to go out for a cigarette.
Once he’d handed in his notice, Song Hoon felt even lighter somehow.
It was as if he’d been clinging endlessly to a meaningless thread, mistaking it for a lifeline.
And for the week after he resigned, the biggest topic in the company was Song Hoon himself.
.
.
.
.
“You said you were quitting, but why do you look so bright, Manager?”
“If the day ever comes when you quit too, Yeomyeong, you’ll understand.”
“Your skin looks better too. Is quitting the company really that good?”
Of course, part of the reason his expression had brightened was that he really was leaving the company—but there was a bigger reason too.
“I’ve been getting skin treatments. Man, money really is great. Once you start getting proper skincare, your skin gets ridiculously good.”
“Eek?! Skin treatments?”
“I never thought my skin would look this good at thirty. I even got laser hair removal.”
In the end, it all came down to money. He’d been spending hundreds of thousands at dermatology clinics, getting hair removal procedures and all kinds of treatments, and before long his skin had improved so much it was obvious at a glance.
“Wow... That’s seriously amazing. No wonder your skin looks so good.”
When Seol Yeomyeong ran her hand over his skin, the soft, silky feel came straight through her fingertips.
“Honestly, when I look at you, you could pass for someone in their mid-to-late twenties.”
At some point, his height, his proportions, and even his build had all become so good that calling him a model wouldn’t have been an exaggeration.
Of course, there were still a few ordinary touches here and there, like the way he wore his hair and all that.
“So what are you going to do after you leave, Manager?”
“Let’s see. Whatever I do, it’ll probably be better than this, right? I might even try investing.”
Then again, just hanging around as an unemployed man and doing nothing but having sex didn’t sound so bad either.
“True. Whatever you do, Manager...”
Seeing Song Hoon’s behavior over the past while, Seol Yeomyeong was convinced he would succeed at anything.
Every move he made was full of strange, unshakable confidence, and more often than not, the results actually backed it up.
“I’ll come by sometimes.”
“You’re welcome anytime.”
“Eh. If I do that, I’ll probably end up too sore to come to work.”
He snorted a laugh.
“But you’re leaving because of the people, right?”
“Because of the people, huh. Well... maybe.”
He couldn’t say they had nothing to do with it, but that wasn’t the whole story either.
“They must be going around saying, ‘How much did he even make to quit so easily? Is he some kind of FIRE guy or whatever? Then just how much did he earn—one billion won? Two billion?’”
“Oh! Correct!”
Seol Yeomyeong giggled. That was almost exactly what they were saying.
“They told me to ask because I’m close with you. Said they were curious how much you made.”
“Pfft. People really will be curious about anything. What business is it of theirs how much someone else makes? It’s not their money.”
Song Hoon smiled faintly and stroked his chin.
“Tell them I made about three billion won. Go on.”
“Huh?! Three billion won?”
“They’re not going to tell me to open my bank account and show them. What do I care?”
Besides, if he wanted to, earning three billion won was nothing. His goal was to make far, far more than that.
“Either way, people are going to gossip. Might as well make them sick with envy. If I say, ‘I made, like, two hundred or three hundred million,’ what do you think they’ll say?”
“They’d be like, ‘You quit for that little? Are you insane? So you were just running away.’”
“Exactly. But if it’s three or four billion?”
“They’d say, ‘Song Manager’s crazy. How did he make that much? Damn, I’m jealous.’”
“See? Correct.”
“You’re really going to spread that?”
“Yep. I’m really going to spread that around.”
Seol Yeomyeong burst out laughing.
“But seriously, how much did you make? Just tell me~”
“I don’t know. I don’t even know exactly how much I’ve made—or how much I’ll make.”
“Huh? That... Wait, what? It’s just increasing in real time or something?”
Instead of answering, Song Hoon gave a light nod.
Well, it wasn’t exactly wrong.
And I’m going to make it that way.
***
After he resigned, time really did fly.
He wrote the handover document, passed on part of his work to the existing employees, then handed over the rest to the new hire.
Even in the middle of all that, Department Head Pyeon tried several times to persuade him to change his mind, but every time, Song Hoon just shook his head.
“He says it’s two billion.”
“I thought it was three billion?”
“Wow... he’s really insane.”
“I heard he’s already way past three billion and pushing toward four.”
“At that point it’s basically the lottery. No, wait, since it’s increasing in real time, is it even more absurd than the lottery?”
“Honestly, if it were me, I’d quit too. If I spent the hours I waste on company work investing instead, I could make tens of millions more.”
Before long, the amount of money Song Hoon had supposedly made had inflated from two billion to three billion, and then to somewhere near four billion.
“Then that means Jo Juyeon is the only one getting screwed, right?”
“Pfft. Right? She dumped him first, didn’t she?”
“Did she really dump him first?”
“Apparently she dumped him because she was seeing a Black boyfriend. Someone said they saw her going into a motel in the city with a Black guy.”
“A motel? How tacky. If she’d kept seeing Song Manager, she’d be dining at a hotel buffet by now.”
“But seriously, a Black guy? No way.”
“Nah, it’s already spread everywhere. They said she didn’t even have a car, so they walked to the motel. There were plenty of people who saw them.”
And the rumors about Jo Juyeon, no one knew exactly where they had started, but they were spreading far and wide as well.
“Y-you!”
At the company rooftop garden, when Song Hoon was leisurely drinking a cup of coffee, Jo Juyeon came storming up with her face flushed red and started jabbing a finger at him.
“What?”
“The rumors! You’re the one who started them, aren’t you?”
“Why would I?”
“Then where else would they have come from!”
Jo Juyeon glared at him as if she couldn’t believe it, as if no one but Song Hoon could have been behind the gossip.
But before Song Hoon could even answer, Seol Yeomyeong—who had been glued to his side all day—shrugged and corrected the target of Jo Juyeon’s fury.
“I told you already. There were plenty of people who saw you walking into the motel together.”
“What the—”
“You didn’t know? Even people like Manager Park and Department Head Kim, the ones you always eat lunch and chat with, said they saw it too. What was it they said...?”
Seol Yeomyeong paused deliberately, then continued with a sly curl of her lips.
“What kind of loser doesn’t even have a car and has to walk into a motel? They said you looked pathetic.”
She verbally beat Jo Juyeon half to death with that one line.
“Ugh...”
“So don’t take it out on the wrong person. Though, honestly, it might be good to think about your own conduct before you go blaming other people.”
Jo Juyeon stood there fuming, unable to get another word out, then glared at the two of them as if she wanted to kill them before finally stomping off.
“But is it true?”
“Is what true? The rumor?”
“Yeah.”
“Yep. Sounds like she got caught all over the place.”
Song Hoon had just kept his mouth shut, but if the rumors spread on their own to that extent, then that was that.
Serves her right.
“Ugh. At least try to behave properly.”
“Yeah, you should really do that~ I’m heading down first~ Take your time and come down later~”
After Seol Yeomyeong went downstairs, Song Hoon stood there for a long while, staring out beyond the building.
“Points in reserve: 1,065.”
Within a month of deciding to resign, he’d been fucking like a madman through Z—twice a week, all night long.
Of course, he still had to make time for Seol Yeomyeong and Lee Dahyeon once in a while, so the total only went up from there.
Even after all that, he still had about 345 points left.
“Haa... But I still can’t seem to meet a single B+.”
In the past month, the highest-ranked woman he’d slept with had been B+, and the most common had been C.
“If I’m unemployed starting tomorrow, I’ll be able to do it even more often.”
After all, there had been plenty of days wasted to overtime piled on top of his company work.
“Hmm... Is A-rank impossible on sex-jet?”
In a way, maybe that was the limit of this little animal kingdom.
A woman good enough to be A-rank would have more than enough avenues to meet men without ever needing Z at all.
“In the end, it’s all about points. The smart move is to save up 400 points fast and go all in on the dice.”
No matter how he looked at it, there was no other answer.
He needed to gather points quickly, roll the dice, and upgrade to Stage 2.
And once he reached Stage 2, when he could alter abstract values, he would put the plan into action.
If everything went according to plan?
Then I’ll have true financial freedom.
No, not just financial freedom.
He could also draw attention and become absurdly rich at the same time. The thought of “one point equals one hundred million won” no longer even felt worth considering.
Vzzzt— vzzzt—
“Hmm...?”
Just as he was about to head back down to the office, he glanced at his phone and saw an alert from Z: a DM had come in.
“Oh? Looks like I’ve got a real catch. The ones with heavy hips are finally moving.”
The woman in the DM had sent a long message, deleting and rewriting it over and over alongside a photo. She looked more appetizing than any woman Song Hoon had slept with so far.
“Feels like I’ve seen her somewhere before.”
She had a slightly puppy-like face and skin as white as snow.
Her breasts looked like a solid C, at least.
A stunningly slender body, with crisp eleven-line abs carved clearly into her stomach.
Below that, a perfect S-shaped pelvic line stretching down gracefully.
Smooth thighs.
Song Hoon felt it instinctively.
Definitely an A-rank.
