Prologue: I Downloaded a Game. I Crafted Weapons.
People want big rewards for little effort. Everyone does, really.
Idle games know exactly how to exploit that impulse. They're custom-built for the busy modern office worker — the kind of game where a few taps here and there, or even just leaving it running, is enough to keep things growing and progressing on their own. Perfect for people who don't want to grind, but still want to play.
As a gamer who actually likes games, I've never been a big fan of idle titles. There's just not much to sink into. But once you start working a real job, once the years pile on and your stamina starts to give out, you find yourself reaching for them anyway.
"Isn't there anything decent to play…"
After clocking out, I sprawled across my bed and started digging through idle games for something new.
The idle market is a red ocean these days. Every weird concept you can imagine already has a game built around it.
"Raise a Beggar, Raise a Swordsman… what the hell is this? Raise Poop? Ha. They'll make anything."
Tap.
Tap.
I scrolled aimlessly until one title snagged my eye.
"…Weapon crafting?"
