Club Name 'Familia'
Surprisingly enough, the vice president of our club Familia is Jinwoo.
The reason wasn't anything grand. In case danger struck the club while I was away, I figured Jinwoo—who'd do whatever it took to protect it—was better suited than Youngje, who always made the rational call.
Familia had been created as a subsidiary of the Calione family from the start, and aside from me, Jinwoo knew mafia operations best.
That's why his number was listed as our club's main contact. It was only natural the student council reached out to him.
The photo Jinwoo posted was a screenshot of his phone screen.
A official notice boldly titled [Audit Cooperation Request] filled dozens of lines, stating they were conducting an audit due to numerous complaints from fellow students about Familia's facilities, equipment, and funding.
Predicting the reason wasn't hard.
"It's a warning."
A warning about what happened at the freshman welcome event. And a warning about the resolve Choi Yeon and I showed in the student council room.
"Kids these days got nothing but schemes rattling in their heads, huh?"
I wondered who they thought they were pulling this stunt on.
For now, I forwarded Jinwoo's photo to Haru—who handled our finances—along with a casual check-in asking if she'd gotten home safe.
Her reply came moments later.
Coming from Haru of all people, it was reassuring.
Of course, if they pulled any funny business even after we submitted everything, I'd handle it my way.
But first, I needed to calm the freaking-out group chat.
If Haru brought proof tomorrow that we hadn't spent a dime of the grants, it'd all be over.
Knowing audit was one of the student council's go-to weapons, I'd prepared just in case. They probably never imagined we hadn't touched the funds.
Embezzlement? We hadn't spent a penny. What could they do? Suck their thumbs and leave.
I'd worried my relaxing weekend would turn into a paperwork nightmare, but it looked fine now.
Sure, sorry to the International Trade Club members working through Sunday... but with clean books, it wouldn't be much.
I thought this mess would blow over smoothly...
"You'd better open the door before we force our way in."
"Bring a search warrant, not an audit one."
...but I hadn't expected a standoff like this.
* * *
After our usual classes, we gathered in the club room to review the docs Haru sent ahead of the audit.
They were thin—maybe three pages total.
"Whoa. We really didn't touch the grants. Nothing to read here. Boss, why's the student council even bothering?"
Jinwoo shook his head with a dry laugh at the sparse pages.
"Like I said in the chat—it's mostly posturing, a warning. The academy's student council loves its authority."
And that meant their pressure on us wouldn't be too intense.
With the student council president coordinating quietly with the association, they couldn't show open hostility. Given his personality, he wouldn't get petty over that incident. If he'd dug into my background, he'd know about Hanwol Group backing me—no way he'd push too hard.
"Probably just a glare and done, right?"
"Maybe. Good for us if so."
Jinwoo nodded, getting it.
"So when they show, play along, hand over the docs, and we're good. Keep reviewing requests and training like normal."
"If the boss says so. Guess no biggie then?"
Jinwoo stood, grinning with relief.
"Feels anticlimactic. I saw that student council club manager gathering a crowd earlier—thought something big was up."
...Huh?
"What'd you just say?"
"Thought something big was up."
"Before that."
"Uh... the club manager senior gathering people?"
"Yeah. How many?"
"At least ten seniors, easy."
Seo Yeon-su gathering over ten people?
For an audit? Usually two or three for a quick check. Why so many?
What the—
"Air raid! Air raid! Emergency! Incoming!"
Sea-a burst in screaming, back from her quick errand outside.
"That student council club manager from the all-out war—she's leading a mob this way!"
"This way?"
"Yes! Audits aren't supposed to be this aggressive, right? This feels off from what I heard..."
Something was up.
"Jinwoo, with me. Sea-a, Youngje—take the freight elevator upstairs and check. Block them if they try entering."
"Now?"
"Now!"
I straightened my academy tie and stepped out. Footsteps approached from afar.
"Things just got interesting. ...Jinwoo."
"Yeah, boss."
"Don't let them in, no matter what."
"Huh? We got nothing to hide though?"
He figured innocence meant boldness.
"Nah, this is pride now. They step inside, we lose. Block 'em. Got it?"
"Can't pass up a pride fight... I'll hold 'em."
Jinwoo grinned, cracking his knuckles.
"Here they come."
A tired-eyed woman led a herd of men. Red armbands with the Seoul Hero Academy emblem marked them as official student council.
I stifled a laugh.
"Came prepared, huh?"
Club Manager Seo Yeon-su approached wordlessly, hands in pockets, locking eyes.
As she closed to arm's reach, a guy beside her stepped forward, unfolding a paper.
"Student Council Club Audit Team here. Received reports that 'Familia' earned funds illicitly and invested in facilities."
They yapped like they were justice incarnate.
"This is the student council exercising its rightful authority. Obstructing risks disciplinary action per academy rules. You got our prior audit notice, right?"
He pocketed the paper, crossed his arms smugly.
"Step aside and open the door, please."
"Yeah?"
I stepped toward him slowly.
"B-Boss? Don't kill him!"
Kill? Even untouchable, I wouldn't murder in the academy. That'd ruin everything I'd built.
So...
"Small fry, scram."
I shoved the blocker aside, heading straight for silently staring Seo Yeon-su.
"Long time no see, Club Manager Seo Yeon-su senior."
"Yeah. You too."
"Student council president's orders?"
"Need me to spell it out?"
No, only he'd pull this. But he wasn't the type to overcommit without cause.
Something was definitely off.
"Chit-chat's over. Move. Wanna wrap this quick."
She yawned, shaking her head, trying to pass.
I sidestepped, blocking.
"...What're you playing at?"
"Even student council can't just barge into a club room."
"Deaf? We got an official academy audit warrant. Blocking physically makes you subject to force. Better open before we do."
"Think fancy words scare me off? I know the rules pretty well myself."
Better than you academy brats, anyway.
I pulled out my phone, opened the academy rules page on student council powers and club audits, shoving it at her.
"See? Article 2, Clause 1."
Simple stuff.
"The student council may audit academy clubs, and audited clubs must submit documents. However, if documents aren't submitted, the council may request a search warrant via instructor meeting, and only then force entry."
In other words...
"Wanna enter? Get a search warrant, not audit."
No search warrant, no entry—not a step.
"Rules say so, right?"
Even a model student council had to follow.
