Chapter 50 - Border Extermination Plan
Thanks to the roll-roll, woof-woof pups heading out for a walk, the bunker had fallen quiet. I was checking the notice I'd posted right before bed last night.
The Mods, tormented by excessive duties, spake unto the Moderator, saying their tasks were too burdensome and interfering with daily life.
Hearing this, the Moderator spake unto the Mods: "Then I shall appoint new Mods for thee."
The Mods rejoiced and inquired: "Who is this new Mod?"
The Moderator replied: "His race is unknown. His name is 'Breath-Holding Master.' Strive together henceforth."
The Gallery folk cried out: "That one is an old fogey! Permit not his dreadful speech to bind us thus!" writhing in agony.
Seeing this, the Moderator spake: "Then die."
The comment section was ablaze, reduced to ashes. I figured there'd be gripes about "why hire another," so I pushed through with that convoluted style. Seeing the Gallery folk utterly baffled, it looked like a smashing success. They'd spend ages just trying to parse it, ages cursing it out. By the time they burned through their emotions, no one would bother questioning the new mod. And right on cue—it worked. I'd seized control of their feelings.
"I can dominate the Gallery's emotions..."
You did lead them as you wished, but the phrasing sounds extremely off, Rain.
That's why sharp secretaries are a pain. Sora had read my devious intent.
"Haha. Anyway, the new mod appointment sailed through smooth."
I anticipated some Gallery envy over the privileges, but the notice smoothed it over nicely.
Nod. Plus, once it passed like this, any future complaints could be squashed easy. If they envied mod perks like special food or first dibs on items, I'd just hit back with "Nobody applied back then. Why didn't you?" Done. And with the excuse of manpower shortage for hiring more, they had nothing left but to flop down and take it.
Imagining my blissful mod life, I glanced at the mod chat room, where handover was in full swing.
Handover seemed done. Time to drop in and share the new mod perks.
Handing out food on whims had warped the portions a bit, bugging me. Giving perks to Red Dragon lady and upping our paid slaves' privileges seemed fair.
Slipped out quick while they were distracted by perks. Guilty as charged on ditching the handover. They'd realize soon enough they forgot to gripe. With that, I'd wrapped up everything from last night. Slept through the middle, sure, but still a marathon grind.
"Woof!"
Hero and Hulk returned from their stroll right on cue. True geniuses, they headed straight to wash paws after greetings. Stretching, I pondered my next chill activity.
Maybe my leisure irked her?
Rain, Crown Princess's post is trending live. Shall I open it?
A post blocking my break appeared.
"Yes, please, Sora."
Wanted rest, but duty calls. Knock it out quick and relax.
Krantz Empire's little sun, Eleonora Seraphiel Isolde von Unt zu Drachenkrantz.
To swiftly resolve the Empire's plight, I post this plan for the people.
Short observation time, but experiments confirm fertilizer efficacy.
Slightly rushed, but unavoidable for next year's planting. Bear with it.
Goal: Exterminate plant-type magic beast hordes, stabilize territory.
Fertilizer demands it—mobilizing all but minimal experiment staff.
Plan:
Army splits into two groups, south/north borders.
Converge mid-west border, sweep borders targeting plant beasts.
Post-converge: Purge deep-border remnants, beasts/undead.
After: Bases at southwest/northwest, garrison troops.
Once finances stabilize: Recruit more, add north/south/west bases.
Departure: Two days, 9AM.
Territory for fertilizer per results—check later notices.
That's all.
The Empire's sudden border extermination plan dropped. Knew it'd start soon, but not this soon.
"Sora? What do you think? Feels rushed to me."
Same thought as you, Rain. But unavoidable for next planting. Empire's made its call.
Got it. Royals are all sharp; they'd have contingencies for failure. No way they'd all-in without a year's wait. Plan B exists, so I'll do what I can.
"Long march, supplies, marching, cold..."
Pulled pains from my memories. But that meme-hard plate armor made gifting tricky. One thing left, but no complaints about lacking it, so hesitated.
Sora time.
"Sora, think Empire army would dig buyable water from shop?"
Of course. Cuts mage mana drain for water-making, smoother extermination.
Mages were water tanks, huh. Explains low feats. Not abundant sources—squeezed from people. No wonder food shortages weren't an issue.
"Sell drinking water then. This'll do."
Mages will cheer. Excellent choice, Rain.
Imagined mages cheering freedom from tank duty, listed 6-pack 2L spring water in 'Just Shop.' Now, time for a notice and bask in happy Gallery comments.
