The Demon King's Army, Western Legion (1)
The news of the withdrawal of the artifact, the Sun Orb, was practically a declaration of defeat. As the heat subsided, the news spread rapidly across the entire Demon Realm. For a while, it was the hottest topic in the gallery as well.
(Fanart of the Head Mod as a goddess wearing a sheer, semi-transparent black cloth outfit)
Those human bastards sneaked trolls into our gallery after losing twice on the Eastern Front, and when that failed, they got so pissed they made that ridiculous claim about boiling the entire Demon Realm and whipped out their artifact.
(Photo of the Demon King's army resting in the shade and eating ice)
(Photo of the Allied forces' camp laid out under the scorching sun)
(Photo of the Hum-Elf-Dwarf soldiers melting under the intense heat)
But they were the ones who ended up getting wrecked lol. How dare they pick a fight with our Head Mod? Who do they think they are? Lmao.
— DemonUser1: Damn, nice!
— DemonUser2: Head Mod is so reliable!
— DemonUser3: This fanart is seriously top-tier.
↳ DemonUser4: I want to lick the sweat drops on her feet...
↳ DemonUser5: Fr...
↳ Head Mod: You crazy bastards.
↳ DemonUser4: Get over here!!!
↳ DemonUser6: Please, present those sweat-glistening feet to me right now...
↳ Head Mod: (This user has been banned for 1 hour.)
↳ Head Mod: Next.
↳ DemonUser6: I'm sorry.
(Photo of the Ice Fortress, which had half-melted but barely managed to stop)
Because of those wretched humans, the northern Ice Fortress, boasting a long and glorious history, almost melted completely, indeed! Thanks to the Head Mod, those wicked humans have retreated, so I am truly grateful!
— DemonUser7: Wait, it hasn't melted yet?
↳ Frost Queen: You are a bad person, indeed!
↳ DemonUser8: No, because every time a fanart of the Head Mod and the Sub-mods getting intimate gets posted, there are always comments saying the Ice Fortress has completely melted, so I thought it actually did lol.
↳ Frost Queen: -_-
— DemonUser9: Is this one a roleplayer too?
↳ DemonUser10: This one is the real deal;
↳ Frost Queen: I am different from a psychopath like the Ancient Demon God! I am the true Queen of the Snowmen, indeed!
↳ Ancient Demon God: How dare you! I am indeed the true Ancient Demon God!
↳ Frost Queen: Cut the crap and get lost, indeed!
↳ DemonUser11: Seeing both of them in one place is making my head spin lol.
↳ DemonUser12: As if their speech styles weren't annoying enough on their own, holy crap lmao.
↳ DemonUser13: Fr lol.
Looking through the gallery's reactions, all the blame and vitriol were directed at the humans, while several posts expressing gratitude and worship (?) toward me were popping up.
"If they take this meme too far, I'll have to start deleting them."
Fortunately, the forum users walked a fine line with their Head Mod worship, never quite crossing into brain-dead spam. Since I was in a good mood and the weather was finally cooling down, I decided to let it slide for now.
And then...
"Oh, this looks interesting."
An analysis post that caught my eye was uploaded.
(A neatly organized table)
I've summarized the related data posted in the gallery. This one image explains it all, yep.
Of course, even with this summary, some of you still won't get it, and I know many Mabung-is will just scroll straight to the bottom if there isn't a TL;DR. So, here's the 3-line summary:
1. The Hum-Elf-Dwarf alliance mobilized a total of 8 artifacts to punish the Head Mod.
2. It varies by rank, but on average, keeping a B-rank Sun Orb running for a single day requires over 100 large, high-purity magic stones.
3. Doing some rough math, they were burning through at least several million gold coins a day, yep.
I honestly have no idea what kind of crazy confidence possessed those bastards to run 8 artifacts day and night for 3 whole days.
— DemonUser14: Must be nice to have that much money~
— DemonUser15: I wish they'd just given that money to me, holy crap. If they gave me just 20 gold coins, I could live like a king...
↳ DemonUser16: Why would they give it to you lol.
↳ DemonUser17: Did you leave your gold coins in their custody? lol.
↳ DemonUser15: I don't care, just give it to me.
↳ DemonUser18: Honestly, respect the sheer audacity lol.
— DemonUser19: Throwing money away is classic human behavior lol.
↳ HumanSpy1: True, but you beggar demons couldn't even afford to do that, right?
↳ DemonUser20: Triggered? lol.
↳ Head Mod: lol.
↳ Head Mod: (This user has been banned for '7 days'.)
↳ Head Mod: I can do this, though? lol.
↳ DemonUser21: Lmaooo.
↳ DemonUser22: What an idiot lol.
↳ DemonUser23: That human bastard threw away his money and got his account banned. He literally can't do anything right lol.
"Troll down."
As soon as they got slightly triggered, quite a few human spies started popping out from all directions. Bless their hearts, they sacrificed themselves to generously replenish my pitifully low point balance.
Furthermore, with the Sun Orbs gone, the temperature of the Demon Realm returned to normal.
• It was so hot I couldn't even browse the gallery [45]

As the users gradually returned, the gallery became livelier than ever.
"Wait, it feels like we have even more people than before."
The post refresh rate had visibly skyrocketed.
[That's because word of mouth spread after you started selling ice and various other items, Head Mod.]
"Ah, that makes sense."
When I handed out free sausage bread, a massive wave of Archeinian refugees flooded in. When I gave the fatigue recovery potion to the Fixed Nick 'Red Secretary' as a contest prize, it drew in the witches.
So, this new influx...
"Is it the ice crowd?"
[That has a very refreshing ring to it.]
In any case, the great Sun Orb fiasco concluded, leaving the Ared Empire with nothing but an astronomical deficit.
Even after that, human trolls constantly tried to infiltrate the gallery, but they were instantly suppressed by my two sub-mods the moment they posted. Perhaps because almost all of their usable accounts had been banned, things finally quieted down for a while.
"Now that the weather is cooler, sales for cooling sleeves and cooling mats are starting to decline."
However, ice was still in steady demand. I updated the announcement, stating that all items except ice would be marked as sold out once their current stock ran dry. For the ice, I changed it from unlimited to a daily limited quantity, doubling the price.
(Screenshot of the adjusted items)
Let me know if you have any complaints, yep.
— DemonUser24: You raised the price of ice?
↳ Head Mod: Yep.
↳ DemonUser25: Honestly, you could raise it tenfold and it would still sell.
↳ DemonUser26: It's still cheap, so it's fine.
↳ Head Mod: Got it.
— DemonUser27: To be honest, you were selling ice way too cheap.
— DemonUser28: Isn't eating ice in the middle of summer a privilege reserved for wealthy nobles anyway?
↳ DemonUser29: Exactly. You have to hire an ice mage to make it, and considering a mage's fee, it's insane.
↳ DemonUser30: Seriously. In the dead of summer, all you have to do is click a button in the gallery and you get ice. For just 2 copper coins? That's not expensive at all.
↳ DemonUser31: The Head Mod was like this when he released the potions too. His grasp of economics is a bit weird;
"True."
This was a medieval fantasy world, after all. Normally, if you wanted to eat ice, you had to wait for winter or hire a mage whose services cost a fortune. Even in Earth's history, ice was once an incredibly precious commodity.
"There's a reason ice houses existed."
Even then, commoners couldn't even catch a glimpse of it unless they were royalty or high-ranking nobles. Yet, in the middle of summer, all you had to do is open the gallery shop, spend a single copper coin, and click a button to get five kilograms of ice. It was an absurdly generous event.
Since the heat was subsiding and ice was no longer a matter of life and death, the users didn't have much of a complaint about the price hike.
As I was browsing the gallery and adjusting the shop...
"Sooooon~~!"
A voice calling for me echoed from the first floor.
"What is it?"
"Mom's heading out now. I put some food in that 'refrigerator' device you mentioned. I'll try to come back as often as I can, so take care of yourself, okay?"
"Yes, have a safe trip."
Since this wasn't the first or second time, I sent her off calmly. She said she had things to take care of, but she never gave me any details.
"Yaaawn~"
I dazed out for a moment, and since my mother had left, I decided to organize some things in the cabin. First, I set up the hammock in a corner of the living room.
"And you, you little pebble."
I stared at the stone. It was like a monkey's paw, dragging me into bizarre incidents every time I made a wish.
"I wish everything goes smoothly from now on. Do you even grant wishes like that?"
Naturally, there was no response. It was just a dull, ordinary stone, so it didn't flash or glow.
"Oh, by the way, that wasn't an official wish, okay?"
Lest I get dragged into another bizarre incident. I tucked the Stone of Fortune—as confirmed by the Operator—deep into a hidden corner of the bookshelf. Keeping it nearby might lead to me accidentally making a wish without realizing it.
Afterward, I returned to the living room, climbed into the hammock, and opened the gallery.
At that exact moment...
Congratulations! The gallery level has increased!
Gallery functions unlocked upon reaching Level 6.
Point acquisition rate increased by 2x.
Exchange limit for points/currency has been increased.
Daily Limit: 50,000 pt / 50,000 Copper Coins
"This is actually amazing."
The newly unlocked features were exactly what I needed right now. Thanks to the point acquisition rate doubling once again, my depleted points began to climb rapidly.
"Just look at all the copper coins piled up in my inventory."
I could now easily convert the copper coins that had been piling up due to the daily limit. My worries instantly melted away.
Then, a sudden thought crossed my mind.
"No way..."
I glanced toward the Stone of Fortune. There was no change in its appearance, but...
"It's just a coincidence, right?"
Strangely, I couldn't shake the feeling that my luck had improved because of it.
[Congratulations, Head Mod!]
"Thanks."
For dinner, I bought a pork cutlet bento box from the shop. As I ate, I browsed the gallery as usual.
Now that the heatwave and the Head Mod fanart trends had died down, the new hot topic in the gallery was...
"Another war."
It was the same old, exhausting war between humans and demons.
After suffering two major defeats on the Eastern Front, the humans had deployed their artifacts to crush the soaring morale of the demons.
"But they failed miserably."
Thanks to me releasing unlimited ice and items, the demons managed to endure the heat relatively well. On the other hand, the Hum-Elf-Dwarf Allied forces stationed on the front lines were directly exposed to the scorching heat and grew completely exhausted.
As a result, the already high morale of the demon army soared even further, while the Allied forces' morale plummeted straight through the floor.
It seemed they were now launching a massive counteroffensive to make up for their losses.
(Zoomed-in image of the western region on the continental map)
This is the Demon King's Army, Western Legion. Thanks to the stronghold fortress built on top of the western coastal cliffs, this place is practically impregnable.
But the problem is that supply lines are completely cut off. The elf bastards brought their entire archer division to surround the area, and the dwarves set up layers of giant repeating ballistas, completely cutting off aerial supplies.
It looks like they're trying to make up for their failure in Archeinia by capturing this fortress. I'll compile more details as they come in and post them here, yep.
— DemonUser32: We're screwed.
— DemonUser33: Are they trying to starve them out?
↳ War Correspondent: Yep.
↳ DemonUser34: But even if they block the land route, isn't the sea still open?
↳ War Correspondent: (Photo showing giant repeating ballistas installed on naval warships, completely surrounding the sea)
↳ DemonUser35: Holy crap, they really mean business.
— DemonUser36: Doesn't this legion have an undead division?
↳ DemonUser37: True, zombies and skeletons don't need food.
↳ War Correspondent: None. The main force consists of local harpies, and the rest are regular demon soldiers.
↳ War Correspondent: That's why the demand for supplies is so high, making it extremely dangerous.
"There isn't a single place that isn't in deep trouble."
Why couldn't everyone just stay in their rooms and browse the gallery in peace?
"Wait, why are the Hum-Elf-Dwarf alliance and the Demon Realm even fighting in the first place?"
Back when I was just Derek, a naive half-demon youth living in a remote mountain village, I never gave it a second thought. I had only muttered things like, "I hope all those idiots just drop dead."
But things were different now.
"There has to be a reason this war started."
Unfortunately, there were no books or records about it in my cabin. Even when I searched the gallery...
"There's absolutely nothing about it."
Even digging up the very first posts by the Fixed Nick 'War Correspondent', or looking through the archives from the era of the previous Head Mod—the former Demon King—and his sub-mods, only yielded fragmentary information that the war had been going on since long before their time.
"Hmm. Well, there is one way."
As a last resort...
"Operator. You there?"
[Yes, what is it?]
I decided to call the Operator.
[Head Mod, you want to know why the war started?]
"Yeah. I still have two questions left from the chicken bribe, right? You said I could ask anything."
[That's true. However, there are so many different reasons, I'm not sure which one to explain first...]
"I'd like you to explain all of them."
[Well, you see...]
Gulp.
For some reason, anticipation and tension washed over me as I waited for her explanation.
But right then...
Notifications began to chime in the admin chat.
"A link?"
I asked the Operator to wait a moment, clicked the link, and entered the post.
Title: [Title: Is this the place called the gallery, beep-?]
"What on earth is this?"
A new gimmick poster had appeared.
