I Became the Fighting Dog of a Ruined Organization!
My life is completely fucked. Why do I say that? It's a sudden question, sure, but do you know the genre called isekai possession stories? Personally, I love it. The protagonist gets reincarnated into an extra or a doomed villain with all the meta-knowledge, then desperately struggles to survive. Classic stuff.
But let's run a thought experiment. What if I got possessed into a story I knew absolutely nothing about?
The situation gets a little weird. Normally you'd use your prior knowledge to gain an edge, but if it's a completely unfamiliar world, you're screwed. Of course, there are comedy stories that play this exact premise for laughs. Not knowing anything can be its own kind of fun.
But what if that story is a grimdark tragedy?
Think about it. You open your eyes in a world you've never seen. There's a mirror nearby, and the reflection isn't you. So it's not some fantasy transport—it's possession. What kind of world is this? Then you notice two corpses lying right in front of you. A man and a woman. You puke because it's your first time seeing dead bodies. After you finish retching, the questions start. Who are these people? Turns out they're the parents of the body you possessed. So you got isekai'd into a tragedy that kills off the mom and dad right at the start?
The doctor says I must've suffered severe shock and lost my memories. No, you idiot. I didn't lose my memories—I got possessed. I still remember every miserable second of my previous life. There's no way it's amnesia.
It's confusing, but since I'm in another world, I have to investigate. So I did some digging.
First, the doctor is wearing a crisp white coat and keeps ordering MRIs and CT scans. Looks like science is pretty advanced here. At least it's not medieval fantasy, so I won't have to deal with the nightmare of hygiene and basic amenities. That's a relief.
Even better, my new adoptive mother runs a PC bang. If there are PC bangs, this has to be Korea, right? Her name is Sato Fuyuka, which sounds Japanese, but maybe she's a Japanese person living in Korea. My own name is Woo Hyun-woo, a good Korean name, so that tracks.
But then I overhear something that doesn't fit Korea at all.
"The perpetrator was a gangster. Gangsters usually get punished by their own organization, but the perpetrator has gone missing. So the organization can't punish him either."
Okay, the guy going missing is one thing. But what the hell does "gangsters punish their own through the organization" even mean? That's not normal. Something's off.
So I kept investigating. And the results were... astounding.
"So you're telling me... this world mixes fantasy and murim, is sealed off by a massive wall, and on top of that has a noir-style gangster cartel running things?"
What kind of batshit world is this?
And then—ta-da—I got possessed into it.
Still, it's not like I got zero benefits. Since I'm the protagonist of a possession story, they gave me one superpower.
Your ability is 'Title Collector'.
In this world, people have titles like they're in a game. If they make them public, the title pops up above their head with a dramatic flair. If they keep them hidden, you can't see them. But because I'm a Title Collector, I can read anyone's titles regardless.
And true to the name, I've already collected some weird ones. The most ridiculous was 'Expert at Boiling Delicious Ramen.' Completely useless.
Anyway, my life is already in the toilet, and some girl keeps pestering me.
"Welcome to Fantasia!"
Above her head floated the title Boss of Fantasia (Ruined). And in front of me, a status window kept appearing.
Will you become the Fighting Dog of Fantasia (Ruined)?
It pops up once a day. How am I supposed to ignore that forever? So with a mental shrug of screw it, I accepted.
You have become the Fighting Dog of a Ruined Organization!
In the end, I became the fighting dog tasked with saving an organization called Fantasia. How ruined is it? There are only two members total—including the boss. Their funds are completely bankrupt, and neither of them has any combat ability. That means I'm the third member and the only combatant.
I don't even know how to fight properly. How the hell am I supposed to save this organization?
This is definitely a grimdark noir with a tragedy tag. The moment I thought that...
Your ability, Title Collector, has granted power to the word 'Fighting Dog'.
After reading that, I thought to myself:
Ah. Even if it's a grimdark noir... this might actually be worth trying.
