Hierarchy Breakers Get Their Skulls Cracked (2)
“In an evil organization, a subordinate who ‘acts out’ is synonymous with someone scheduled for physical retirement or a suicide hopeful.”
—Excerpt from the tooltip window for players of the Demonia Empire
How fascinating. And how utterly chaotic this household situation has become.
The support troops sent from the Demonia Empire’s main base included a Marine captain—or rather, what passed for a special forces operative in this world—who decided to throw his weight around.
Out of nowhere, he launched a mutiny that went far beyond simple insubordination, stirring internal chaos against his own superiors.
Who could have guessed I would be the one caught in the middle of it?
From what I heard, this Darven Ancio fellow—a bald, middle-aged captain—wasn’t acting alone.
“Hold on. He has a faction?”
“Approximately twenty men. They’ve been running the Marines, the support ships, and even the supply units with an iron grip.”
“How very interesting.”
They had formed their own private clique inside the military.
Realizing this was supposedly “support,” I felt a wave of hollow disappointment.
Still, I posted about the situation on the gallery, hoping for some dry comfort.
“Hiiiing?”
The post was long-winded and overly explanatory, leaving me momentarily confused.
In short, Darven Ancio and his crew were deliberately planted troublemakers sent by the Demonia Empire to test us.
They were already marked for disposal, so no matter how we dealt with them, it wouldn’t matter.
The moment I understood that, my head nodded on its own.
At least now I knew I didn’t need to hold back psychologically against Ancio’s faction.
“Assistant. Assistant.”
“Yes, Doctor.”
“Call Ancio’s entire group here. Especially Captain Ancio—make sure he comes.”
“Understood.”
I closed the gallery window and immediately summoned Ancio and his men.
After giving the order, if they had come right away, I might have handled it in a reasonable, “normal person” manner.
Unfortunately, even though I—the highest-ranking Demonia officer on Milano-V—had issued the command personally…
“What? They’re not coming?”
“Surprisingly, they reported they cannot come immediately due to ‘personal circumstances.’”
“……Heeeh.”
True to their reputation as rejects, they deliberately ignored the order and acted defiant.
After a second command, they finally showed up, grumbling, along with the rest of their group.
“Assistant. When they arrive, bring them straight to my room. No detours.”
“……What exactly are you planning to do, Doctor?”
“What else? Make them pay the price for breaking the chain of command.”
“Understood.”
At that moment, I reached a clear conclusion about the fate of Darven Ancio and his faction.
After making that decision, I purged Ancio’s group while live-posting the entire process on the gallery.
“Hah, seriously. I followed their own rules and crushed them thoroughly, so why are they making such a fuss?”
The reaction was far more intense than I had expected, leaving me with a strange feeling.
