He'd been so obvious about it that he never even noticed the reverse-grief meter had already maxed out—and sure enough, solo players who decided this was the perfect opportunity came swarming in and tore him to shreds.
Meanwhile, other users had confirmed that Icarus's forces were depleted from conquering Avalon Fortress. The consensus started forming: if everyone piled in right now, while his power was weakened, wouldn't that do the job?

Looking at the live-stream posts, it seems like nearly half his fleet got wiped.
If we play this right, couldn't we just push in on a force that's already spent?

More than anything else — a full day has already passed since the siege started.
Whoever rams in first has to be ready to watch all their capital ships get vaporized.
And then the next wave of empty-house raiders is gonna tear that guy to pieces, yeah.
Even with the warning that "you'd lose every capital ship and get torn apart by the rest of the server," the glittering prospect of snatching a Level 5 fortress for free was too much. Desire burned bright in one user's eyes as he steeled himself to go for the backstab—
No. To boldly, brazenly gobble up the Avalon Fortress that Icarus had just claimed, his willpower roaring to life.

Meanwhile, back during the stretch when the gallery was flooding with proof shots and every bizarre rumor under the sun—more precisely, before I posted the fleet-acquisition proof shot—what exactly was I doing?
Well, obviously…

I was taking the Avalon Fortress I'd just seized and docking my entire base onto it, fusing the two into one.
Granted, that meant my precious Emergency Base Escape would be unusable for at least a month—
But the fortress becomes my base!!
Unlike when I'd been sitting on a bare base all alone, I now had a rock-solid defensive fleet and power to spare. Sure, after nearly two years of living in this possessed body, I'd grown somewhat attached to the old sector… but it was never charming enough to pass up a fortress for. There was nothing to be done about it.
And what about the forward bases I'd planted near the old resource zones to stockpile materials? Here's how that went:
