Mission Complete — Time for the Reward (3)
From everyone else's point of view, of course, it was a situation that would have driven them into a blind rage.
I spent a moment wondering just how the hell things had ended up this way — but only a moment.
Nah. I should just go dig through the wiki tab.
Sitting here fretting over it by myself was clearly a waste of time. I pulled up the community window and headed straight for the wiki tab to dig up some information.
Though not before I dealt with the mountain of report posts that had piled up again in the meantime — and, while I was at it, severed the heads of that goddamn pedo bastard and the gore-obsessed freak who had started rampaging the second their bans expired.
Anyway, after cutting through the gallery — a jungle crawling with venomous creatures and wild beasts — I reached the wiki tab, and after a long stretch of rummaging through everything on our big, beautiful Behemoth-class Mobile Ship Breeding-Growth Platform, I finally found a post that looked halfway decent.
Figured a lot of people wouldn't know about this, so I'm writing it up.
It was added in an update roughly two years before the day we got isekai'd into the game. First showed up during the event story where the Space Kaiju try to take over the world.
Cutting the fluff — basically, it's a kaiju-style ship gacha capsule. You get one ship of battlecruiser grade or higher, or two cruisers at a time, popping out like trash mobs.
Downsides, though: the odds on capital ships are absolutely abysmal, and second, you only ever get kaiju ships. Which, to be fair, makes sense — lore-wise it "breeds" ships inside itself, so other factions' hulls showing up would be weird.
Somehow the comments were denser with actual information than the post itself. Still, thanks to them I now knew everything I hadn't before. I dropped a big upvote on the thread, then made my decision.
I'm unlucky as hell anyway, so I'll just take whatever cruisers crawl out of that gorgeous space cocoon and build Hellhound Cerberus with them.
I tossed the whole big-guns-big-ships romance straight into the trash and drafted a new plan: use the two kaiju cruisers that would inevitably spawn to shore up the fleet's midsection, then have them escort the regular battlecruiser I'd build once resources allowed.
But the next morning, the moment I laid eyes on the big, beautiful thing that emerged from the cocoon, I had to throw that "realistic" plan into the trash too.
Picture it.
You've just woken from a perfectly comfortable night's sleep on your personal jelly mattress, climate control dialed in just right. Body and mind feeling fantastic, you shave clean, ready to start a fresh day — and the second you open the command post door—
"C-Commander! Look outside!"
Oh, fuck.
First thing in the morning, a colossal kaiju packed wall-to-wall with enormous monster eyes is parked right there — and several of those giant eyes suddenly whip around to stare straight at you.
Most people would scream. I was no exception. Standing there with Jessica and the rest of the command staff, I nearly let out a high-school-girl shriek of my own —
"Jessica. Calm down first."
"Commander?"
"Size-wise it looks about battleship-class, but we can't get a precise read like this. Treat it as another player's ship for now and contact Leonard — he's on standby at the base."
Maybe all the recent mental beatdowns had finally trained me to hang on. This time I locked my composure down far faster than before and started laying out a response to the ship in front of us —
"Commander, um…"
"Contact Belial too. Tell Pashtura to prep for bombardment. Ignis, Partia, and Griyanaar — ready for close combat. Why?"
"That giant kaiju… it came out of the 'cocoon' Princess Luka brought yesterday."
The moment Jessica said it, my brain simply refused to process. I could only stare blankly and ask again.
"…Hold on. Did I mishear that?"
"No, it's real. Just a few minutes before you walked in, it climbed out of the cocoon — the growth platform — and it's been sitting there next to the base like that."
Jessica nodded with absolute certainty. And as I looked out the command post window at the colossal kaiju battleship posing in all its lofty glory, the realization hit me: that thing was the "reward" I'd been waiting for.
"…KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
"Commander?!"
I immediately unleashed a 120-decibel scream worthy of a teenage girl, my legs gave out, and I collapsed right where I stood.
Not because the kaiju-type capital ship in front of me was garbage, mind you.
"Jessica. That right there is pure sex."
"…"
"Who knew something more perfect than fried chicken could exist in this world."
"Commander, if Princess Luka or Oxianor overheard that, I don't think they'd stop at extreme rage."
No — it was because, after getting shafted by gacha after gacha after gacha, fortune had finally smiled on me.
HELLLLLLLL YEAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
I still had no idea exactly what kind of ship it was. But compared to the Overseer-class Heavy Cruiser docked nearby, it was at least five times the size. And the silhouette alone was stranger than any of the small-to-medium kaiju we'd grown used to — stranger even than the occasional large kaiju we'd spotted.
It still had that organic, curved kaiju architecture all tangled together, sure. Up front, the signature ultra-heavy carapace jutted out like a ram, same as always. But unlike the squat, almost chubby look of most kaiju, this one was long and lean fore-to-aft, like the battlecruisers that formed the backbone of Pirate Coalition fleets. Unidentified structures stretched evenly toward the rear like wings, and those structures bristled with holes and protrusions that screamed this thing shoots a lot of something.
Given the sheer size and shape, it was obviously battlecruiser-grade or higher — no need to check.
"Alright then. Let's see what our pretty little friend's profile looks like."
"Commander, you're being a bit of a creep right now."
"Oh come on, Jessica. Our Oppa needs to blow off steam like this every once in a while."
"Well, that's true, but still."
Ignoring whatever Marianne and Jessica were grumbling about behind me, I went straight to finding out what this ship actually was.
Status window!!!!
And the status window that appeared was the kind of thing that could give a man an orgasm just from looking at it.
