The Butler Rolls Around for the Villainess Again
In the quiet corridor where even the sound of knocking seemed swallowed whole, a man with dark circles heavy enough to rival a panda’s stood rapping on a door that offered no reply. His face looked as though he’d spent days pulling all-nighters cleaning up yet another disaster caused by a certain ill-tempered young lady. Unfortunately, that man—who looked ready to collapse from overwork at any moment—was me.
“My lady, may I come in?”
I had stayed awake for two nights straight, head throbbing, yet I still managed to speak with the utmost courtesy. Beyond the firmly shut door, however, there was only silence.
“Haa…”
A sense of foreboding crept through my entire body. So much for any special privileges granted to transmigrators. There was only one reason the young lady would remain silent while inside her room. Knowing that all too well, I stopped knocking and spoke.
“I’m coming in, my lady.”
Click.
As expected, the moment I opened the door, a pungent stench—like rotten herbs steeped in medicine—assaulted my nose. The room was a complete mess. Scattered belongings littered the floor, hazy smoke hung in the air as if someone had set off a smoke bomb, and a blue liquid trickled slowly down my cheek where it had splashed.
Haa… Again? I had told her time and again not to touch the drugs. How many times had she nearly died from overdosing? And I had already confiscated every last one—where on earth had she gotten more?
“My lady. How many times have I told you not to take those drugs? I’ve lost count at this point.”
Not long after I spoke, a soft, melodic voice drifted out from behind the smoke.
“Mm… Seb, you’re here…? I was waiting…”
…Damn it. When she acts this cute after causing trouble, it’s hard to stay angry. And it wasn’t the first time, either.
“Please wait a moment. I’ll come to you.”
Waving away the smoke that filled the room, I made my way toward the source of the voice. A woman with ash-brown hair in wild disarray came into view, her violet eyes unfocused and dreamy as she looked at me. The moment I saw the young lady smiling foolishly with blue droplets clinging all over her body, heat flared back into my exhausted mind.
“I haven’t had a proper night’s sleep in two days because of the mess you made, and you’re over here getting high on drugs?”
“Then Seb must be tired too… Let’s feel good together… okay?”
Haa, right. What’s the point of reasoning with someone who’s already high out of their mind? This wasn’t the first time the young lady had done this. With all the experience I’d gained from dealing with her repeatedly, I could practically call myself a master at handling her. I knew exactly how to deal with a young lady completely intoxicated by drugs.
“Shall I sing you a lullaby?”
Though every time I used this method, it left a bitter taste in my mouth. As if she understood my reluctance, the young lady nodded eagerly and nestled into my arms.
Go ahead… Do whatever you want, our adorable young lady.
“Then I’ll begin.”
“Fuuu…”
Just like that, after hearing the lullaby infused with mana, the young lady drifted off to sleep within seconds, wearing the most peaceful and content expression imaginable.
“Seb…”
Hm, or not. The young lady forced her eyes open, staring at me with unfocused, half-lidded eyes before letting out a soft giggle. Then, as if embarrassed, she murmured a single line and fell back asleep.
“Thank you… always… I love you so much…”
…She really knows how to launch a surprise attack straight to the heart. Keeping my voice as calm as possible, I spoke to the young lady now rolling around on my lap in her sleep.
“Yes. Sleep well.”
It was always like this. I was always the one cleaning up after her messes, while she caused trouble and then escaped with a bit of cuteness. Still, what could I do?
“Haa, but what can I do? Even if my body breaks down, she’s the one I chose to love.”
Resenting myself for falling for a villainess whose every route ended in death, I gripped the hidden throwing knife in my suit pocket, ready to hurl it at a moment’s notice. Then I addressed the presence lurking behind the curtain that had been secretly watching us.
“You’ve already been caught, so come out quietly. If you come out now, I’ll make it clean.”
As the faithful servant of our noble young lady, it was my duty to quietly eliminate any pests that threatened her safety. After all, if I made too much noise, our young lady—who knew nothing of the world—might wake up.
