Why Am I a Girl?
Stay! Please, stay!
Kim Cheong-yong.
Thirty years old. Military service completed. Unemployed. Professional parental spine-breaker. A keyboard warrior clocking six thousand Korean keystrokes a minute. A gallery troll of the purest breed.
That day, too, began with an ordinary shitpost.
Dragon Heart Romance. A Western-fantasy dating sim where you romance polymorphed dragon heroines. The Red Dragon princess, the Gold Dragon saintess, the White Dragon student-council president, and the Black Dragon gloomy otaku girl. It looked like the kind of minor title only Yongbakis would lose their minds over—but the worldbuilding was surprisingly solid, and the combat was flashy enough that some people skipped the routes entirely and just fought. That unexpected quality had made it a rising star.
Of course, I had never actually played the game properly. I tried a bite, then dropped it. Honestly, I had no interest. But for stirring chaos in a gallery, that much knowledge was more than enough.
Naturally, the gallery’s reaction was anything but ordinary.
I snorted at the replies. As expected, they took the bait beautifully. Yongbaki kindling needed no extra firewood. All I had to do was toss in one log that would make everyone grab the back of their necks, and the thread would rocket to the top.
I nodded in satisfaction after posting. Yes. If it was a dragon, it had to be the Azure Dragon. What kind of rootless nonsense was a Dragon, anyway?
Replies landed instantly.
I had been waiting for exactly this. My fingers returned to the keyboard.
The comment section ignited in seconds. Someone dropped a wall of lore rebuttals. Someone else screenshot-shamed my username. Someone declared, “Block this bastard and the gallery becomes clean.” Watching every last reaction, I smiled with pure contentment.
As always, nothing beat a good troll session at the end of the day.
I closed my laptop right there and lay down on the bed. That was my last memory.
And when I opened my eyes, I was standing in front of a mirror.
“…….”
In the glass stood a stranger—a woman. Small frame. Long, slender limbs. Dark blue-green hair cascading all the way to her waist. Small blue horns rose from her head, and near her wrists and the nape of her neck, scale-like patterns glimmered faintly. Her irises were blue. More precisely, a deep blue like the sky just before rain.
I stared at the girl in the mirror for a long time. Then, slowly, I opened my mouth.
“……Why am I a girl?”
The voice that came out was clear and bright.
It was over. In every possible sense of the word, it was over.
I frantically scanned my surroundings. An unfamiliar room. An antique bed. An academy uniform. An admissions guide lying on the desk. On the cover was a familiar line of text.
Drakenheim Academy.
I froze at those letters. No. Wait. Up to this point, I could still understand. Transmigration. Fine. TS. Common enough in modern genres. I had been isekai’d into a dragon dating-sim world. That could happen.
The problem was who I was.
I was not the game’s protagonist. I was not a romance target either. Not the Red Dragon, not the Gold Dragon, not the White Dragon, not the Black Dragon.
I looked in the mirror again. Blue horns. Blue scales. A body that did not belong. And on the desk, a palm-sized blue pearl. Instinctively, I knew its name.
Yeouiju.
“……Hold on.”
A chill ran down my spine. Had there been an Azure Dragon in this game? No. There were no Eastern dragons. If there had been, I would never have trolled like that. No dragon veins, no Yeouiju, no Four Sacred Beasts lore of any kind. Every dragon in Dragon Heart Romance was Western. Wings. Breath. Dragon Heart. Blood and bloodlines. That was common sense in this world.
And yet here I was—an Azure Dragon that did not exist in the original work. As a beautiful girl, no less.
“Ah.”
Only then did last night’s comment come flooding back.
Obviously if you're talking dragons, it's Eastern dragons. And among those, the Azure Dragon of the Four Sacred Beasts.
“……If I ever go gallery-trolling again, I’m not even human. Wait—I’m already not.”
Right then, a knock sounded from outside the door.
“New student Cheongha. A physical examination is scheduled before the entrance ceremony.”
Cheongha. Apparently that was this body’s name.
I answered in a daze.
“Yes, I’m coming.”
And not long after, in the Admission Examination Room, I collided head-on with this world’s common sense.
“No breath organ.”
The Examiner’s voice rang out coldly.
“No wing organs.”
The new students around us began to murmur.
“Dragon Heart response is also…… negligible.”
This time, laughter mixed into the whispers.
“That’s a dragon?”
“Isn’t she a Defective Species?”
“No wings and she can’t even use Breath?”
I kept my mouth shut. It was unfair. It wasn’t that I couldn’t use Breath—I simply didn’t seem to be built that way at all. Wings, I truly lacked, but somehow I felt I could still fly without them. The problem was that I had no way to explain any of that here.
The Examiner furrowed his brow.
“There is an item among your belongings with a strong mana reaction. Take it out.”
“Ah, this?”
I drew out the blue pearl I had tucked against my chest. The Yeouiju glowed softly on my palm.
In that instant, the examination room went silent. Truly silent—so quiet not even a breath could be heard. The color drained from the Examiner’s face. The professor beside him dropped his pen. A student standing in the back swallowed a small scream.
I blinked.
“What is it?”
The Examiner asked in a trembling voice.
“Student.”
“Yes.”
“That…… where did you get that?”
“It’s mine.”
His gaze flicked between the Yeouiju and my face.
“Why.”
He forced the words out with difficulty.
“Why are you holding your heart in your hand?”
“Excuse me?”
That day, on my very first day of enrollment, I was promoted from Defective Species to complete lunatic.
