Chapter Title: Be Careful When Posting on Communities!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In creative works, the rich young master trope comes in several flavors.
The type who lounges around smugly, bossing his underlings about.
The type who relies solely on his parents' money, struts around, and gets thoroughly wrecked by the protagonist.
The type who starts off with a fiancée who adores him, but ruins it all by causing one scandal after another.
The extra who's used as a tutorial boss early on just to hype up the protagonist.
Sure, those types exist, but in the game I love—
Blaze Blood.
Or BlBl for short—Rubelt Eldra, the rich young master, is at least a cut above the rest.
He's the type who coasts on his parents' prestige and snipes a bit, but he doesn't get in the protagonist's way much.
The kind who snarks off on his own and blows himself up eventually.
By the final chapter, he's grown strong enough to handle one of the executive bosses on his own, peeling off from the party as the protagonist heads to take down the final boss.
At first listen, he sounds like a perfectly fine character.
But I had a bone to pick with how Rubelt Eldra was treated.
Blaze Blood is an adult game.
A pretty hardcore one, at that.
Maybe because the developer’s previous title was an eroge, it carries that influence—your classic 17+ rated game.
While attending the academy, the protagonist enjoys some sweet, budding romances.
During monster hunts, he stumbles into those classic "lucky perv" events.
The moments where the heated protagonist and heroine confess their feelings mid-adventure are the real charm.
Plus, with the dev's eroge experience, the fanservice ramps up subtly but hits just right.
Hell, the community forums even have flame wars over which heroine's event is the best.
The only downside? No direct H-scenes with the protagonist and heroines—what they call "fuckgod" moments.
But the story and combat systems are so solid that it more than makes up for it.
Every player hails it as a heroine-packed, event-rich god game.
And I agree—it's a god game.
But there's one thing that really grinds my gears.
"Why the hell doesn't Rubelt get a single route?"
This near-side character in the game.
Rubelt Eldra, heir to the world's top wealthy dynasty.
He's got a fiancée his age and a maid who guards him closely.
These two are dubbed the "Rubelt crew"—they show up with high probability whenever he appears.
They're not even listed in the game's heroine intros, marking them as straight-up unrouteable characters.
From the faction setup alone, you'd think they were his heroines.
Yet no route has even a single scene pairing him off with either one.
Hell, it's weird for me—the guy playing the protagonist—to say this, but...
Rubelt makes zero progress with his fiancée or maid in every route. Zero.
Even in post-battle banter.
The protagonist and heroines' lines evolve with their relationship progress each chapter.
But Rubelt? Always the exact same stock voice line. Every time.
Come on, even if the protag's romance and adventures take center stage, shouldn't there be some hint of bonding? Especially with the ones who stick with him to the finale?
After hitting 100% completion and having Rubelt tag along to the end of every route, I'd grown kinda attached.
So, wanting to vent, I posted on the community forums.
'Why is Rubelt's treatment such trash?'
A rant laying out why his handling was just too much, even by my standards.
Some folks agreed.
Agreed lololol
But wasn't he impotent or something?
Nah~ Doesn't matter since he's not the protag~
Rubby here's been around his maid and fiancée for 3 years and still no progress? Total eunuch lmao
BlBlKun! Don't talk bad or it'll jinx ya!
"See? I'm not the only one who thinks so."
I giggled at the reactions and added more posts.
Somehow, as I kept writing, my affection for Rubelt turned into full hype, and it was fun watching people agree... or rage in the counters.
'Rubelt's specs are actually way better tho?'
'If we're talking raw stats, Rubelt's better than the protag lolol'
'Isn't it weird he doesn't hook up with even one heroine in other routes? Agree?'
Mostly half-joking, I spammed the forums, then thought—what if I go harder?
Might as well go all in!
Thread title:
'If I were Rubelt, I'd smash every girl in sight lolololol'
- Rubelt's treatment sucks so bad that even if BlBl's a god game, it falls apart on logic—total trash route game lolol
A 5700-character wall of text rant, summing up to that.
[Then give it a try.]
"Huh?"
Who could've guessed that'd be my last post before reincarnating?
