Angel, Dinosaur, and Samurai
“Hey, what kind of angel tries to kill ordinary people?”
“Shut that filthy mouth of yours. Those you seek to protect are surely wicked as well. In that case, I shall melt them with the light of heaven.”
People who divide the world into good and evil must find life so convenient. They’re always righteous by default, and anything that displeases them is instantly labeled evil. Their every action is justified, and they comfort themselves in solitude.
“This place… is it inside the shadow? It’s terribly dark.”
The angel’s eyes widened. As he spread his wings wide, brilliant light that refused to be swallowed by shadow poured forth, pushing back the surrounding darkness and bathing everything in warm sunlight. It was as if an angel had truly descended.
“How the hell did you even come back to life? Do angels have some kind of resurrection ability?”
“I have no obligation to tell you that.”
“You’re so strict. We had a pretty fun fight a few years ago, didn’t we?”
“I’ll tell you one thing.”
“Oh, how kind.”
“An order came from above. Since you spared my life… it must have been the voice of God.”
An order? “Attack everything in sight.” That was the command.
“If that’s what God said, then God’s a crazy bastard too.”
Those words seemed to be the trigger. Crimson spiderweb-like veins burst across the angel’s eyes.
“Anyone who insults the will of God deserves to die!!!”
Oh dear. Sorry. I didn’t expect you to get this angry.
“Those who worship false idols—to hell! Those who speak God’s name in vain—to hell! All wicked things—to hell!!!”
Damn it. This is Sodom and Gomorrah.
Holy light began to seep into the shadow realm. It would melt anyone who opposed the will of God.
“Ughhhhh…!”
The light descending from above started dissolving my flesh and bones. It hurt like hell the first time I took it, but this was far stronger than before… Of course, unlike the other summons, I couldn’t regenerate, so that might be part of it. Still, if I kept taking hits like this, I’d be in serious trouble.
‘Foot of the Absolute, stomp that annoying fly to death!’
At my command, the Absolute’s massive foot descended, blotting out the angel’s light. Its sheer weight warped the air around it.
The angel looked up, panic flashing across his face. He frantically flapped his wings, trying to flee, but the area was far too vast to escape.
BOOM!
The moment the angel was crushed beneath the foot, the brilliant light pouring from the sky began to fade. Complete darkness swallowed the surroundings once more.
I started healing my melted body with black flames.
“That really stings like hell. Never thought I’d have to use self-recovery. And in the human world, no less. I didn’t expect to take this much damage here.”
Still, at least I killed him…
Crack… crackle… crack…!!
What the—? Green blood began spraying from beneath the Absolute’s foot.
Don’t tell me… this angel bastard is still alive?
“Did you truly believe an attack of this level could kill me, you fool?”
The angel sliced through the foot and burst out from the gap, wings spread wide. Countless eyes embedded in his wings blinked as he shook off the green blood clinging to his feathers.
“Hahaha! This just got interesting. Shall we begin round two?”
“Lure, watch out!”
Liz summoned her summon, Peros, intending to attack the skeletal dinosaur, but a sudden pterosaur appeared and blocked her path. The creature opened its jaws wide and charged, attempting to swallow her whole.
“Peros, throw the nails!”
Peros struck a stylish pose, yanked out one of the nails embedded in his body, and drove it straight into the approaching pterosaur’s long beak.
‘Fossils naturally absorb iron content from groundwater during the fossilization process. In that case… I can trigger magnetic attraction and repulsion!’
Liz activated repulsion on the nail-pierced pterosaur. Just as she predicted, the creature froze. She poured even more power into the repulsion, and the pterosaur shot backward as if struck by a cannon, slamming into the wall and shattering into pieces.
“Peros, throw nails at the Continentalisaurus too… Huh…?”
“Hehehe, that tickles.”
After quickly dispatching the pterosaur, Liz rushed over to help Lure, who was under attack—only to find an eleven-meter-tall skeletal monster that had become Lure’s loyal puppy.
“Liz, look at this. I think he likes me. Hehehe.”
The Continentalisaurus had willingly offered its skull to Lure, who was happily stroking it.
“Wait, what the hell is going on?”
“I threw him a bone, and he ate it. Then he wagged his tail like he wanted more, so I gave him another and he got all happy. He’s just like a dog…!”
Liz remembered how even that sacred divine beast had been tamed by her. ‘Maybe Lure has some special power?’ The class president couldn’t help but wonder.
Whether Lure knew what she was thinking or not, she climbed onto the Continentalisaurus’s skull, slid down its tail like a playground slide, and played around with pure delight.
“Wheee~!”
Anyone watching would’ve thought she was an uncle playing with his niece.
“Aaaaaagh! Help!”
At that moment, a scream rang out from a man being attacked by a pack of small dinosaurs. The creatures had sunk their sharp teeth into his legs and arms, pinning him down. The apparent pack leader had climbed onto his stomach and was about to rip his belly open with its claws.
“Lure, we need to save the people first!”
Lure, seeing the horrific sight, turned to the Continentalisaurus and pleaded.
“U-um… please save the people. I’m… too weak to help… I’m counting on you…!”
The Continentalisaurus shot forward at incredible speed and began tearing the small dinosaurs apart. It wasn’t the greedy movement of a scavenger stealing someone else’s prey—it was the pure, ferocious motion of a wild beast.
“W-wasn’t that fast? With a body that big, those knees should’ve been shredded by now?”
Before Liz could finish her thought, a massive sauropod suddenly began rampaging nearby.
“Aaaaaagh!”
“Holy shit… I never imagined I’d die getting stepped on by a sauropod.”
Beneath its feet were people on the verge of being crushed by the skeletal sauropod.
The Continentalisaurus saw this, its nonexistent eyes seeming to burn with rage, and charged. It sank its teeth into the sauropod’s neck and yanked it sideways, toppling the giant.
“A-amazing…!”
“Go! Continentalisaurus!”
The people began cheering for the Continentalisaurus that had come to their rescue. Since dinosaurs were already incredibly popular, the roars of support were loud enough to pierce the barrier and reach the sky.
That was when Liz realized something. With only bones remaining, there was no cumbersome flesh to weigh it down. Of course it could move even faster than it had in life.
“As expected, our Continentalisaurus isn’t some hyena-like scavenger!”
“Kill them all!”
When the creature crushed the sauropod’s skull with its powerful jaws, the crowd went wild. Meanwhile, Lure watched her “puppy” helping people with a look of pure satisfaction.
Liz, who couldn’t possibly ruin this atmosphere, decided to simply go along with their fantasy and quietly cheer with them.
“That’s it! This is the power of the theropod! Don’t you dare miss!”
“Damn it… I’m… I’m actually crying…!”
“GRRRROOOOOOAAAAAAR!!!”
The Continentalisaurus stomped on the sauropod’s corpse and let out a mighty roar. The people cheered even louder, and Teren, wearing his Wear Wolf armor, joined in with a howl of his own.
“What the hell is even happening here…”
The Abyss Cult had countless factions. Every one of them worshipped beings from the Demon Realm. Originally, they had all looked toward the same realm and lived in relative harmony.
“So who is the true king of the Demon Realm?”
A single innocent question from one believer had sparked a bloody battle royale. That was how the cult splintered into so many rival factions.
And now, the followers of Hydra had come to the museum. What they sought was the Hexagram drawing.
“Is this the one Mantos drew?”
“Yes, Lord Typhon.”
They stared at the Hexagram drawing.
“With this, we can infiltrate anywhere undetected.”
“Indeed. Mantos actually used it to sneak into the academy.”
Typhon smiled.
“But how on earth did Mantos manage to recreate this Hexagram drawing?”
“He was always incredibly talented at drawing. He probably just copied the one on display here at the museum.”
“Why can’t anyone in our Hydra faction do that?”
“We… don’t have anyone good at drawing…”
Typhon let out a deep sigh.
“Haa… Why is there no one like Mantos in our faction?”
“P-please don’t be too sad, my lord. He was truly exceptional to have copied such a detailed drawing so perfectly…”
“You’re saying Mantos was exceptional? Are you praising our rival faction right now?”
“I only said that because he was crazy enough to copy it perfectly.”
“I see.”
Typhon walked confidently up to the glass wall. He passed straight through it as naturally as walking through an open door, grabbed the drawing, and walked back out. As expected, the security system immediately activated. All the lights in the museum went out, replaced by flashing red emergency lights.
“Good. Let’s get out of here.”
“An excellent plan, Lord Typhon!”
The two tried to leave the museum, but suddenly iron walls slammed down, sealing the entire building.
“W-wait a second… There wasn’t a security system like this before, was there?”
“This isn’t because of us!”
“What…?”
That’s right. Normally, when an item was stolen, the lights would go out and sirens would blare. After that, the museum guards would simply come chasing after the thieves. But there were no guards coming, and instead an unidentified explosive barrier had been erected.
“Even if I tried to pass through this with my ability… it would explode, wouldn’t it?”
At that moment, the things around them suddenly began to move on their own.
Neiiiiiigh!
The skeletal remains of a horse on display came to life.
“Ugaaaga!”
The ancient human skeletons began moving as well.
“Hahaha, what a fine blade this is!”
Even the ancient samurai had come alive.
“What the hell is going on…?”
“I have no idea either…”
