Chapter 2
**I became an Extra in an Adult Game** **Chapter 2: The First Day**
I landed a job. It was just an intern position, though.
I landed a job. And not just any ordinary company either. The Transcend Guild. South Korea’s top-tier Hunter guild. The equivalent of a major conglomerate on a global scale.
I had been hired there as an intern.
“Wow.”
A sigh of awe escaped my lips.
In the original world, even passing the resume stage had been a struggle. Here, though, Kang Do-yoon at twenty years old was already an intern at the Transcend Guild.
It felt like my life had already hit the jackpot.
“…No.”
Kang Do-yoon shook his head, still deep in thought. “That’s success, though.”
He was good-looking. Twenty years old. He had a job.
This place wasn’t some cramped one-room apartment. It was the housing provided by the Transcend Guild for its interns.
If that wasn’t a straight upward trajectory through life, I didn’t know what was.
Kang Do-yoon kept scrolling through the information on his phone.
**[F-Class Gate Practical Training]**
“…Huh?”
Only now did the memory click.
Early game. The moment the protagonist first entered the guild and received real-world education.
“What was the protagonist’s name again?”
Kang Do-yoon scratched his head. The name had been on the tip of his tongue, yet it kept slipping away. He had watched the game through to the end, but he hadn’t memorized every single setting.
After a moment of hesitation, he shook his head. “Never mind.”
That wasn’t important right now.
He only had about thirty minutes until he needed to report for duty.
Kang Do-yoon hurried to the closet and opened it. Neatly folded uniforms inside. The Transcend Guild logo embroidered on the fabric.
“Nice.”
Surprisingly stylish.
He changed quickly and stood in front of the mirror. As expected. Even after looking again, he was still incredibly handsome.
“Perfect.”
Kang Do-yoon nodded, satisfied with himself.
Whether it was a yaoi game, a hunter title, or the protagonist of any story— right now, the most urgent thing was simple. He just needed to stop himself from falling back into being a powerless NEET.
***
When he arrived at the F-Class Gate practical training site, a large crowd of interns had already gathered. From a distance, it was obvious even before he got closer. There were so many women. No—there were an overwhelming number of them.
It felt like eight out of every nine people present were female.
‘This really is a women-first society.’
Kang Do-yoon felt the reality of the world sink in all over again.
Everyone wore the same Transcend Guild uniform. Yet the faces inside it were far from ordinary.
Tall beauties. Short-haired women with cute expressions. Model-like figures.
‘Everyone’s looks are on another level.’
Kang Do-yoon scanned the crowd, checking every face. Maybe he’d recognize someone from the game.
That was when he spotted a man standing out among the women. Long bangs covered his eyes. He stood with his head slightly bowed, posture tense, clearly aware of every gaze around him.
And somewhere familiar about him.
“…Huh?”
Kang Do-yoon realized instantly.
‘That’s the protagonist.’
In the game he had grown into a cool, powerful character. Right now, though, he looked… ordinary. More than ordinary—nervous.
His shoulders were pulled in tight as if the stares pressing down on him were unbearable.
‘Makes sense.’
Kang Do-yoon could understand it completely. In this world, men were rare everywhere they went. In the original story, the protagonist had thrived under the love and attention of countless female hunters. But what kind of life would he have lived if the game hadn’t started yet?
As he watched, curious.
“Gather up!”
Click-clack.
A woman in a suit stepped forward, file folder clutched in her hand.
“Everyone, interns.”
She clapped once to get everyone’s attention.
“We’re about to announce the team assignments.”
The surrounding chatter instantly died down. Kang Do-yoon turned his attention to the front as well.
“Team One.”
The woman opened the file.
“Lee Hwa-young.”
“Here.”
A short-haired woman with a brown bob raised her hand.
“Kim Hye-jin.”
“Here.”
A long-haired woman with black hair answered this time.
And then… both women turned to look at each other at the exact same moment.
A brief silence. Their expressions quickly stiffened.
“……” “……”
Anyone could see they were disappointed.
Kang Do-yoon let out a small chuckle.
‘What, are they already friends?’
He waited for the next name, still grinning to himself.
“Cha Jin-hyuk.”
The woman read the next name.
At that exact moment,
“Yes, yes.”
The man Kang Do-yoon had just decided was the protagonist raised his hand.
The entire atmosphere shifted.
Everywhere he looked, eyes swiveled toward the new arrival.
Kang Do-yoon felt an internal sigh of admiration.
‘Wow, he’s actually popular.’
He had assumed it was inevitable—after all, males were rare in this world. The female interns who hadn’t been assigned yet reacted in different ways.
Some folded their hands and murmured. Others closed their eyes in prayer. Still others gripped their hands so tightly their knuckles turned white.
Everyone clearly wanted to be in Cha Jin-hyuk’s team.
Kang Do-yoon chuckled again.
‘Not even a celebrity fan-signing event.’
“Yoon Seol-ah.”
The next name came right away.
“Here.”
A calm voice.
A woman with long silver-gray hair stepped forward. Haughty expression, confident eyes. Yoon Seol-ah gave a short nod.
A small ripple of gasps spread through the crowd.
“Ah…” “Jealous…” “Really?”
Happiness and envy clashed.
Kang Do-yoon studied Yoon Seol-ah, trying to recall her name.
‘Yoon Seol-ah…?’
He was certain he had seen that name before. A tutorial character, perhaps. But the memory was hazy. She had only appeared in the tutorial section and wasn’t used after that.
‘Her performance wasn’t that great, either.’
He couldn’t remember the details exactly. The one thing he knew for sure was that her actual appearance was far more beautiful than the game illustration.
‘So that’s what she really looked like.’
Of course, seeing someone in person was completely different from the screen.
The names kept being called one after another. One person here, another there. Teams were being formed one by one.
And then…
“Kang Do-yoon.”
His own name finally rang out.
“Here.”
The instant the word left his mouth, Kang Do-yoon felt it instinctively. The stares were coming—hundreds of them at once.
Exactly the same pressure Cha Jin-hyuk had felt earlier. Dozen after dozen of eyes pinned to him. Some stared openly. Others tried to look away only to lock eyes with him. Even some were openly sparkling.
‘This is heavy.’
It was far more uncomfortable than he had expected. Like suddenly being called to the front of the entire school assembly.
Kang Do-yoon scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
‘Hurry up and get this over with.’
He stood there stiffly, waiting for the final name.
“Yoo Chae-won.”
“…H-here!”
A sudden surge in her voice.
Kang Do-yoon turned instinctively toward the sound. A woman with long black hair was frantically waving her hand. Her nerves were plain to see.
His gaze naturally landed on her.
And their eyes met.
“……!”
Yoo Chae-won’s shoulders jerked. Eyes wide like a startled rabbit, she dropped her gaze immediately. Her ears were flushed bright red.
‘Huh?’
Kang Do-yoon tilted his head. He hadn’t done anything. Why was she reacting like that?
He looked at her with an expression that said he didn’t understand.
Meanwhile, Yoo Chae-won couldn’t bring herself to lift her head again.
Once all team assignments were complete, the woman holding the file opened her mouth once more.
“From now on, each team should gather with your teammates for a quick introduction and preparation.”
“We will be entering the gate in the order of your teams.”
“That’s all.”
With those words, the interns began to move.
Kang Do-yoon headed toward his own team. Only one teammate. Yoo Chae-won.
He raised his hand lightly and approached.
Then…
One step.
Yoo Chae-won stepped back.
“……”
Kang Do-yoon stopped.
Was it just his imagination?
He took another step forward.
Yoo Chae-won stepped back again.
“……”
This time there was no mistaking it. She was fleeing.
Kang Do-yoon stared at her in pure bewilderment.
‘What did I do wrong?’
No matter how he thought about it, they had never met before.
In the end, he spoke first.
“Excuse me.”
“Y-yes, yes!”
Yoo Chae-won jumped in surprise and answered. It was the reaction of a rookie soldier suddenly called in front of her superior.
“You must be Yoo Chae-won?”
“Y-yes!”
“……” “……”
A heavy silence fell.
Kang Do-yoon let out a long sigh.
He couldn’t figure out why she was acting this way.
“Please take good care of me today.”
He greeted her as neutrally as possible.
Yoo Chae-won’s eyes grew even wider.
“N-no, I should be the one asking you to take care of me!”
She bowed deeply at the waist—ninety degrees.
Anyone could see it was too much.
“No, not that much…”
Kang Do-yoon waved his hands, flustered.
But Yoo Chae-won refused to raise her head. Instead, she shouted in a stiff, military tone.
“P-please keep me safe today without any injuries!”
“……” “……”
Kang Do-yoon stared at her blankly. What? Was she a soldier? Her behavior had been way over the top since the beginning.
In the end, he gave up on trying to understand.
‘Well, maybe that’s just her personality.’
There were all kinds of people in the world.
He nodded and changed the subject.
“Oh, right. What’s your job, Miss Yoo Chae-won?”
At the question, Yoo Chae-won straightened up instantly. She looked exactly like a job applicant standing in front of the interviewer.
“Sword Saint!”
Kang Do-yoon nodded. The aura of someone who carried a sword around her was unmistakable.
So she was a frontline fighter, then. A healer pairing with a frontline would probably work well.
That was the thought in Kang Do-yoon’s mind when it suddenly froze.
“…Huh?”
What had she said again?
He slowly raised his head.
“Hold on.” “What did you say?”
Yoo Chae-won flinched. “Y-yes?”
“Your job.” “Sword Saint…” “……” “……”
For a moment, Kang Do-yoon’s expression hardened.
Sword Saint? Not surgeon? Sword Saint?
“Why is a Sword Saint here?!”
Kang Do-yoon’s shout made several heads turn toward them.
Yoo Chae-won jumped in fright and shrank back.
“I-I’m sorry!”
“No! Why are you apologizing?!”
Kang Do-yoon covered his head with his hands.
