Mir El's First Hunt
Mir El was way stronger than I'd expected.
"Ppii! Ppii!"
"That's my girl! Good job, Mir El~! Whose daughter are you, huh?"
"Ppii~"
In just two days, Mir El had grown so fast that she could stand steadily on her two legs without wobbling, her muscles bulging impressively. If she swung her fist right now, she could probably demolish a whole building, right?
"Ppii..."
"Oh, hungry already? Want some mana stones?"
"Ppii!"
Most of the mana stones I'd ordered for delivery were already devoured by Mir El in a single day, so I had to place another order. My bank balance was down to about 3 million won now. Starting today, if I wanted to keep feeding her mana stones, I'd have to start hunting for real.
The problem was...
"A summoner, huh..."
"Summoner? Hmm... that might be tricky for us."
"Ugh... ahem."
"More importantly, have you ever thought about becoming an idol? I know someone who..."
The prejudice against summoners was way worse than I'd imagined. I tried looking for party members in front of a nearby D-rank gate, but I kept getting turned down.
Our Mir El is super strong!! And I'm B-rank, for crying out loud?!
Back at the Hunter Association, Mir El had smashed the beginner measurement orb, but on the retest, she held back just enough to hit the low end of B-rank and got certified as such. Still, B-rank was B-rank. I couldn't figure out why we were being shunned even at a D-rank gate, so I checked the Hunter Gallery.
For starters, their summons are uncontrollable at low levels. We usually hunt C-rank gates and below for at least half a day, right? But those summon beasts are like total brats. They wander off the second you look away, the summoner can't rein them in and ends up sweating bullets. And the summoner themselves? Pathetically weak, so you have to babysit them like a healer. Are the summons OP? Nah. Might as well bring a porter instead lol.
"Hmm... I see."
The stigma against summoners was even worse than I'd thought. No way I could hunt like this. I was about to give up and head home when a private message notification popped up on the gallery.
It was HatchingMaster—Han Chae Rin from Phoenix.
Oh right, I hadn't reached out since.
Hmm... should I show her? It was small enough that even the Association thought it was a wyvern, and she'd helped me out...
After some thought, I picked a photo from my gallery.
Han Chae Rin went quiet for a bit, like she was stunned, then kept chatting.
Oh, that made sense. Some parties had started murmuring when I mentioned summoner.
Time flew while chatting with Chae Rin. Mir El started growling in my arms, urging me to get moving already.
"You wanna go solo too?"
"Ppii~!"
Mir El nodded confidently. Well, after seeing her at the Association, she could probably handle it... and a vet like Chae Rin said it'd be fine, right?
"Alright, let's go!"
It was Mir El's first mission.
Phoenix Guild Master Han Chae Rin had lately become obsessed with this one cute summoner. Amid the boring paperwork and chores, gallery lurking was her only joy in life—and this newb was a breath of fresh air.
Not even skilled, and a newb got an egg how?
At first, she thought it was some chaebol heir bragging about illegal eggs, but the more they talked, the more it seemed purely genuine love for the egg.
Mana newbie... kid? Adult? Dunno. Talks like a total baby tho.
She'd taught mana handling basics and figured they'd come back if mana ran low or the egg changed. She waited. And waited.
Why no updates?
Searched for posts—nothing since the first one.
Did the hatched beast attack them or something?
Worried, she messaged first.
They replied like they hadn't even considered asking her—straight up sent a photo of the hatched beast.
Success on first try? Dragonkin even. Wyvern? Drake? Too baby for info... but whatever, it'll hit A-rank minimum if raised right.
Of course, controlling it was on the summoner... but their mana handling showed talent.
Tempt with mana stones?
Tried luring like a kid with candy, but it was like someone prepped them—they teetered but didn't bite. Yet shamelessly asked for what they wanted.
So cute!
Wanted to rush over, hug 'em, teach everything! She pushed her desk, about to stand—
"Don't even think about leaving. Look at this backlog."
"Wasn't planning to?"
"If I hadn't said anything, you'd vanish without a trace. I know you've been scouting nearby on real estate apps."
"Hmph."
Puffing her cheeks at Vice Guild Master Yoo Min Ah's words, she sat back and reached for the towering papers.
"I just stamp anyway. Can't you handle it all?"
"...Just hand over the guild then."
"Can I?"
"..."
Her face lit up, but Min Ah's expression turned ice-cold.
"J-just kidding~"
"Don't say that crap in front of guildies. Ruins your rep."
"Got it~ Anyway, room for new recruits?"
"We always take newbies."
Chae Rin showed the photo of the presumed wyvern Mir El.
"Wheeling a promising kid—minimum A-rank growth."
"Oho..."
Min Ah's eyes sparkled, like oh, guild master actually works?
"But not biting? Might need to scout in person..."
She eyed the door slyly. Min Ah sighed.
"...You're going anyway, right?"
"Yup. Checked location. I'll disguise, snag the newb quick."
"...If that's the reason, go. Take Scout Team Leader too."
"I can go alone?"
Why her? Min Ah replied like it was obvious.
"Alone, you'll slack a whole day."
"Ugh."
"With Scout Leader, you'll stay on task."
"Fiiiine..."
After the nagging, Chae Rin hurried to the D-rank gate where the summoner newb was.
"Thought D-rank dungeon would be tense..."
—Kiiik!!
"Ppii!!"
It was like letting a cat loose in a chicken coop. Mir El dashed through Goblin Forest, smashing goblin heads lurking in the brush. Literally pulverizing them. No harvesting mana stones—she'd rip them open fresh with her claws and eat.
Mir El's level has increased!
Mir El's level was now 6. Opening her status window showed stats that highlighted the massive gap between our species.
【Whoosh! Whoosh!】 Swing fists hard for damage.
【Rawr!】 Intimidate to stiffen foes.
【Mana Sovereign】 Master of all mana-based magic.
【Mommy!】 Sense Mother Body [Seol Yun]'s location anywhere in the dimension.
My daughter... is seriously strong, huh? I only learned later that I could check statuses. Never needed to peek at others' before... HatchingMaster suggested checking stats if worried, and it clicked.
Per HatchingMaster, summon ranks by total stats:
1-10: F
11-40: D
41-60: C
61-100: B
101-200: A
...and so on.
That meant Mir El was knocking on A-rank's door. And she was less than three days old! Our kid's a genius, right? Smartest dragonkin ever. (Not that I've seen others.)
While admiring her goblin-smashing spree from a step behind, lost in proud-mom thoughts—
—Kiruk!
"Huh?"
Two goblins from the bushes behind me lunged.
"Kyaa!"
I yelped like a little girl, but they were already close. Imagining that rusty dagger piercing my skin, I squeezed my eyes shut.
Pain reduction 90% activate!!
But no pain came.
Squish!
"...Huh?"
I peeked at the weird grip— the goblins had dropped their daggers and were clinging to my legs, hands groping thighs and butt, rubbing something long and blunt...
"W-what the hell!"
Horrified, I tried kicking them off, but my F-rank body couldn't budge them.
A compatible male is nearby for fertilization.
"H-heek?!"
Looking down, the goblins drooled excitedly, licking my legs like males marking a mate. Their slimy, bumpy tongues wrapped around my thigh—my body froze, unable to flee—
"Ppii!!"
Crack!
—Keruk!
Mir El charged in and shattered their skulls.
"Almost got doujin material..."
Clutching my pounding heart, Mir El confirmed the kills with repeated punches before returning, satisfied.
"Mir El..."
I hugged her tearfully as she approached like you okay? My legs went weak.
A doujin scenario flashed in my mind—wait, even without skill consent, could it force pregnancy?
For Mir El, I'd just held the sample—no explicit okay. What if prolonged proximity auto-pregnates...?
"Creepy as hell?"
"Ppii..."
Swish swish— Mir El rubbed her tail on my goblin-slobbered leg, like erasing the trace. I burst out laughing despite it all.
"To avoid unplanned siblings, Mir El's gotta protect Mom good, okay?"
"Ppii!!"
After that, Mir El stuck within 10 meters, smashing goblin heads relentlessly. A typical D-rank party hunts 100 goblins in 5 hours—we got nearly 300. Half the mana stones eaten or crushed by her, but we still bagged over 100 low-grade ones.
