Legendary Awakening
—Of course I know, Heeyeon is my daughter, you worthless piece of trash.
Lee Hyunseung responded as calmly as possible. If the woman on the other end was Yoo Heeyeon’s mother, then she held a high position in Artemis, the nation’s most powerful guild. Her husband was the guild master himself. If Artemis decided to make him disappear, he would become just another unidentified corpse and no one would ever know. So he answered with every ounce of politeness he could muster.
Even so, he could not stop the fury rising in his chest.
“Are you Yoo Heeyeon’s mother? Why are you calling me?”
“Oh? Look at this little bastard, still acting cocky. You pull that shameless stunt and you still haven’t come to your senses?”
“I didn’t do it.”
“You didn’t? Trash like you who have nothing always commit crimes and then lie through your teeth saying you didn’t. You think I haven’t seen plenty of scum like you before?”
“I really didn’t do it.”
“You’re hopeless. I was going to let this slide quietly, but from now on your future is finished. No guild will ever accept you. Do you understand what that means? You’ll spend the rest of your life alone, you worthless insect.”
Lee Hyunseung ground his teeth and spoke again.
“I… told you I didn’t do it.”
“Haa… Forget it. What’s the point of talking to an orphan brat like you? Keep clinging to that pathetic pride of yours and see how far it gets you. Once you graduate from the academy you’ll be doing manual labor for the rest of your life. No wonder you turned out so shameless and disgusting, growing up without parents. Talking to you any longer will only give me a headache. Live like that forever. Spend your days as a talentless, inferiority-ridden loser.”
Click.
Kim Heera hung up.
At that moment, something inside Lee Hyunseung’s mind seemed to snap.
Plop.
A tear fell.
“Fuck… What the hell did I even do…?”
Plop.
“Fuck! What the hell did I do to deserve this crazy bitch?!”
“Haa… haa… haa…”
It was unfair. He had truly done nothing. Yet they were not only destroying his future—they were calling him a parentless orphan, a talentless loser?
What had he done wrong? Why did he have to suffer this kind of treatment?
Stalking? Why would he ever do that? Why would he secretly follow that girl or take pictures of her? What was so great about her that he would covet her training methods?
“Fuck—!”
Boom!
He slammed his fist into the wall. His hand throbbed, but he felt no pain. The sense of injustice was far greater. The heroine possessed overwhelming power, and so did her parents.
If he continued living like this, he would die a miserable, pathetic death. If Artemis applied pressure, he would never enter a guild or even a magic tower. He would not even be allowed to work in some backwater town. He would die alone, with no one by his side.
“Don’t be ridiculous…”
He muttered through his bitterness. He had done nothing, yet he was being forced to imagine such an unjust future. His only goal had been to live quietly. He wanted good written grades, a stable position in a magic tower, and a normal, happy life like everyone else.
Back on Earth he had been an orphan too. No friends, no family, nothing. He had been destined to work part-time jobs until he died. Then he had been given a chance—possessing the game Broad Academy Online. He had thought it was the greatest stroke of luck in his life. Unlike his empty existence on Earth, he knew every secret and hidden piece in this world. Success had seemed guaranteed.
‘Damn it all…’
But everything was over. A suspension on his academy record meant he could never enter a magic tower. Without that path, even his vast knowledge would be useless. He would have no choice but to grow stronger, join a guild, and explore the Labyrinth.
Yet even that was impossible now. Artemis would pressure every other guild to reject him.
His life was ruined. It had always been destined to collapse. The path to destruction had already been written.
‘Should I just die…?’
Being barred from both magic towers and guilds was the same as being unemployable on Earth. He would have no income. Even part-time work would require him to watch their moods. He would have to spend his entire life avoiding them—all because of a false stalking accusation.
‘Die? Why should I?’
His entire body began to tremble.
He pulled out the small hand axe he had prepared in advance and raised it without hesitation.
‘I’m not the one who should die. And overwhelming power isn’t something only Artemis and Yoo Heeyeon can possess.’
Fear vanished. Only vengeance remained, consuming his mind.
What he needed was resolve. He knew every hidden piece. The foundation for collecting them was a class.
And right now, he stood before the very well that granted classes.
‘The greater the sacrifice, the higher the class you can obtain…’
At last, he made his decision.
Whoosh!
He brought the axe down on his elbow in one swift motion.
Crack!
“Aaaaargh—!”
Agony flooded his senses. The arm did not sever in one strike, so he swung again and again.
Crack!
Crack!
Eventually, one arm fell away from his body. Excruciating pain blurred his vision, but he did not care.
Plop.
He threw the severed arm into the Well of the Goddess. But he did not stop there.
‘Yoo Heeyeon’s parents run the Artemis Guild… To stand against them, an ordinary class won’t be enough. To crush those bastards, I need far greater power. An Epic class won’t cut it.’
Lee Hyunseung then severed one of his legs.
Crack!
Crack!
Crack!
“Aaaaaaargh…!”
The pain returned, even more intense. Blood poured from his body in an instant.
He threw the first leg into the well and began cutting off the second.
Crack!
“Ugh… ughhh…”
Tears streamed down his face. It felt as though every inch of flesh and bone was being torn apart. The agony was so overwhelming that he could not even scream properly—only tears flowed endlessly.
After regaining his senses, he threw the remaining leg into the well as well.
Plop.
“Haa… haa…”
Having lost one arm and both legs, his body was under immense strain. Blood gushed like a waterfall. His breathing grew ragged, his vision hazy. One wrong move and he could die from blood loss. Yet he did not stop.
‘Will this be enough to stand against Artemis? Will this be enough for someone who was always last in practical exams to obtain a class powerful enough to crush Yoo Heeyeon?’
He opened his mouth and began smashing his teeth against the handle of the axe.
Crack!
Teeth shattered and fell to the ground.
He gathered every broken tooth and threw them into the well.
Plop!
Then he poured every last drop of blood from his arm, legs, and mouth into the well. Blood, too, counted as part of the sacrifice.
Trickle…
After bleeding into the well for a long time, when he could barely breathe any longer, Lee Hyunseung finally whispered a prayer.
“I offer this sacrifice to the noble goddess and pray—grant me your power.”
A welcome message appeared before his eyes.
You have offered a sacrifice beyond the limit to the Well of the Goddess.
In proportion to the sacrifice, you are granted two classes simultaneously.
The quantity of the sacrifice has exceeded the limit. Both classes have been upgraded to growth-type special classes.
Class acquisition complete.
You have changed classes to Legendary Gunner and Legendary Blacksmith.
‘Simultaneous awakening of two Legendary classes… Jackpot.’
With that thought, he closed his fading eyes.

“Excuse me.”
After some time, a strange voice pulled him back to consciousness. He opened his eyes.
“Ughhh…”
Intense pain still wracked his entire body. Though his limbs had been restored, the aftereffects remained.
“Excuse me.”

He turned toward the voice. A girl stood there, wearing a haughty expression.
“Are you all right? I saw you collapsed and came over. Do you need any help?”
