Transmigrated Into a Loser's Body
“Serina! Get out into the hallway right now and stand there!”
“Y-yes, ma’am!”
The female professor’s sharp shout from the lectern made me jump to my feet in a panic. The snickering laughter of my classmates around me brought tears to my eyes.
“Ugh, what an idiot. This is fucking hilarious.”
“Look at her stuttering because she’s scared. Makes her look even stupider.”
I hurried out of the classroom through the door, trying to escape the insults coming from behind me. A wave of nauseating disgust churned in my stomach.
Fuck. What a shitty life.
It had been roughly a year since my life went completely off the rails. Just another ordinary day.
One year ago—back before I was possessed into this godforsaken game world—I was just an ordinary college student returning from military service. The only thing I’d gained from the army was a slightly healthier body than the average person, thanks to being dragged around by my muscle-obsessed senior. But because of that, my brain had gone stiff. I stumbled through classes in a daze and ended up completely bombing my final exams.
I hadn’t studied hard, so I couldn’t really complain. Still, it stung. But what was done was done. I trudged back to my one-room apartment with heavy steps and turned on the computer.
With a familiar whirring of the fan, rainbow-colored lights lit up the corner of the room as the monitor powered on. I immediately logged into the game community I visited every day and started looking for any new information on upcoming titles.
The disastrous exam results had already vanished from my mind.
I scrolled through the posts where people were passionately discussing the games they’d played, looking for something new worth trying. I wasn’t exactly attending school with any grand ambitions like “This is what I want to do with my life.” For someone drifting through university without purpose, my only real hobbies were binge-reading web novels and playing games. Exercise was just a habit I did a little every day. Nothing could beat the fun of games and novels.
I spent about thirty minutes wandering the community, but nothing really caught my eye. I’d already played most of the popular titles, so only unproven games remained.
“Maybe I’ll just play an eroge for the first time in a while…”
The community wasn’t strictly divided by genre, so there were plenty of reviews for adult games of all tastes. I’d even bought and played a few that were called masterpieces in the genre. I switched my search and kept browsing.
Another twenty minutes passed without any satisfying results. Since it was the day exams ended, I couldn’t just let the night fizzle out. As a last resort, I moved the mouse cursor and started digging through the folder of games I’d already bought.
More often than not, when a bundle of lesser-known or unpopular games was sold alongside popular ones, I’d buy the whole package on impulse. Most of them were trash-tier titles, but the saying “there’s a pearl in the mud” gave me hope. I kept scrolling until one title finally caught my eye.
"I Became an Academy Mage!"
The first thought that came to mind was that the title sounded more like a web novel than a game. “What kind of bundle was this even in?”
It had both an adult tag and a high-intensity tag, so it was clearly an eroge. Even so, the occasional CGs of the NPCs looked decent for a game I’d bought on a whim. It tugged at my bored heart. I downloaded it right away and looked up what little information was available.
After skimming the story summary, a notification popped up saying the download was complete. Without much thought, I clicked the launch button.
And just like the prologue of one of those novels I used to read, a burst of light exploded from the monitor and I collapsed.
That was how I ended up possessed by a character from I Became an Academy Mage!
A nameless commoner.
A female character named Serina.
“Fuuuuck… that goddamn bitch…!”
Sweat trickled down from my forehead, ran along my ear, slid past my neck, and disappeared down my back. Even with the healthy body I’d had before possession, standing with both arms raised until class ended would have been exhausting. With this much weaker body, it was pure torture.
Being an adult and standing in the “hands-up” punishment pose was ridiculous, but I couldn’t rebel. My old body would have struggled, but this frail one made holding my arms out feel agonizing.
“Fucking dark elf whore…!”
I knew it wasn’t really my fault, yet I still cursed the professor who’d punished me with every speciesist insult I could think of. It was one of those moments when I desperately missed my old body.
Being possessed by a game character had actually been pretty exciting at first. Of course, if it had been a world on the brink of destruction, or one where I had to fight in a war, or some hopeless dark fantasy setting, I would have done everything possible to return to my original world. But from the brief research I’d done, this game was just a typical eroge. You attended the academy, went on the occasional adventure, cleared dungeons, seduced heroines, had plenty of sex, and incidentally defeated the Demon King.
In other words, it was a game where you could fool around with the heroines and complete quests without too much stress.
But there was one massive problem for me.
First of all, I had been possessed into a woman’s body. Just like those classic TS stories—I had thrown away my male body and become a girl.
Of course, the gender swap was a huge shock. But on the bright side? The appearance was satisfying. It wasn’t the bright, cheerful protagonist look you usually see in web novels. If anything, the image that fit was gloomy and gloomy. The atmosphere was dark, but the face itself was undeniably pretty.
So my first thought was, Maybe I should just roll with yuri?
Was it because I used to be a man? Gay stuff was completely off the table, but yuri was doable. Of course, the most fun would have been a yuri story with a male intrusion, but unfortunately I didn’t have the equipment for that anymore. And the idea of rolling around with men and corrupting myself as a female was worse than death.
But even that plan to pivot into yuri had several problems.
First, the character I’d been possessed into—Serina—had absolutely garbage talent for magic. The game was called I Became an Academy Mage! yet here I was with zero magical aptitude.
That was when a thought struck me.
No matter how I look at it… I don’t think I’m the protagonist?
I’d been so excited about being inside the game that I’d overlooked it. But now that I thought about it, I had no proof I was the main character. I’d been possessed before I could even properly look up the game. All I’d seen were a few scattered CGs floating around the site and the vague info that you defeat the Demon King for the ending.
The feeling that something had gone terribly wrong hit me again, and the bad news kept coming.
I was in a society that mixed magic with medieval fantasy, complete with social classes—and I wasn’t a noble. I was just a painfully ordinary commoner. My hometown was a rural village at the edge of the continent. I had no family and lived alone. I was one of those countless commoners who would die nameless if they got involved with the protagonist.
An extra who couldn’t even qualify as a side character. Terrible at magic. Face was decent but gave off gloomy vibes. Big breasts. Commoner status.
All those trash attributes had combined, and I had become the academy’s outcast.
Of course, some might say that alone wasn’t enough reason to be bullied. There were other commoners without much talent who had luckily gotten into the academy. I’d even thought that if I just stayed quiet and didn’t make enemies, I could live peacefully.
Back before possession, I didn’t have any close friends, but during breaks I worked two part-time jobs at once to pay for tuition. It wasn’t that I couldn’t function in society—I just didn’t have close friends.
So my first plan had been simple: don’t cause any big incidents and just graduate. After all, it was well known that an academy diploma meant you wouldn’t starve. There was even a joke that academy graduates who opened inns received a small subsidy.
Whether that was true or not, no one knew.
But the moment I met my roommate in the dormitory, I instinctively realized my plan had already failed.
“What are you looking at, you stupid bitch?”
I never imagined I’d run into someone with maximum commoner hatred right from the start…
