I Became the Homeroom Teacher of the Villains
I opened my eyes to find myself inside a rattling carriage. It was definitely a place I'd never seen before, so I called out to the coachman's back visible through the small window.
"Where the hell is this?"
"...You've been out cold all damn day and now you're spoutin' nonsense? Ain't we headin' to the academy?"
Academy?
Could this be that thing I'd only heard about in stories—waking up reincarnated in another world? All I did was go to bed, and now this. Who the hell reincarnates just from taking a nap?
The world was too scary to sleep in peace. I let out a hollow chuckle and asked the coachman again.
"What academy?"
"You some kinda noble or somethin'? Got a screw loose? We're goin' to Mershu Academy. Word is you're the new teacher shippin' in."
"...Just woke up with a pounding headache, that's all."
"Ain't no hospital 'round here."
"I'm fine."
Mershu Academy. A familiar name.
It was the main stage of that romance fantasy novel I'd been devouring lately.
Something about The Flower of Steel or whatever—couldn't remember the exact title. It was like 128 characters long; no way I was memorizing that.
With some solid info in hand, I scanned the carriage interior again.
A coach meant for about four people, but I was the only passenger. My clothes looked neat enough—not the rags of some beggar.
Next up was the thick document briefcase that caught my eye. I flipped it open and calmly reviewed the contents.
There were all sorts of things, from trivial novels to dictionaries, but one thing grabbed my attention right away.
Name: Otto Becker
Age: 22
Position: Imperial 8th-grade civil servant
Special Notes: Holds teacher certification, possesses low-level magic ability, exhibits special mana wavelength
This document would probably clear up some of my questions.
I read through it slowly.
As expected of an official paper, it started with a detailed rundown of my identity.
"Otto."
I calmly pronounced what was now my name.
They say names hold power. Even this small act made me feel like I truly was Otto.
Otto's abilities were disappointingly underwhelming, beyond imagination.
"Teacher certification's the same as my past life."
I'd been a teacher in my previous life too.
Coincidence or fate? No point dwelling; I brushed it off.
My age was a bit younger than before, but low-level magic? I had no idea how "low" that really was, but if it was listed on an imperial document like this, I clearly wasn't some powerhouse.
Special mana wavelength? What the hell did that mean?
Something to figure out later. I turned the page.
Issue Date: Imperial Year 721, Month of Fire, Day 12
To: Otto Becker
Cc: Personnel Administration Bureau, Imperial Education Management Bureau, Imperial Education Audit Bureau, Imperial Exchange Department
Assignment Order
Pursuant to Article 11 of the Imperial Education Administration Regulations and Article 18 of the Mershu Academy Special Operations Provisions, you are hereby notified of your appointment as homeroom teacher of the newly established Special Class at Mershu Academy (hereinafter "Special Class").
This order takes immediate effect, and no right of refusal is granted.
"Whoa."
Right out of the gate, a fresh dose of coercion pressed down on my shoulders.
Well, in a romance fantasy academy, students frolicked ha-ha-ho-ho, but as a civil servant? This was normal.
"Coachman."
"What now? Keep callin' me like that."
"Ever heard of human rights?"
"Human what? Cow feed?"
"...Never mind."
In a fantasy world where classism ruled and human rights were a joke, what could you expect?
"Imperial Year 721."
I focused on the date.
721. The original story kicked off in 722, so I was arriving at the academy a full year early.
I kept reading.
[2. Special Class Overview]
[This Special Class is composed of individuals deemed unmanageable under the standard education system and includes the following characteristics:]
• Holders of multiple records of teacher violence
• Individuals with uncontrollable strength
• Repeat offenders of problematic behavior
• Others judged incapable of normal education under general teachers
Note: Due to the nature of this class, additional issues may arise.
Note 2: The Empire assumes no responsibility for teacher deaths during guidance.
"What is this? Not a romance fantasy world, but some rule-based horror story?"
Unless... My head throbbed at the nonsense. Maybe this wasn't The Flower of Steel world—this was the damn rule horror genre.
Staring at what was basically a rule horror notice, I let out a dry laugh.
"Teacher rights must be dead."
"Teacher Rights who? Know 'em? Damn shame they're gone~."
"...Forget it. Just drive the carriage."
No human rights? No surprise teacher rights weren't a thing. Even in 21st-century Korea, it was hanging by a thread. In this barbaric world? Forget it.
[3. Duties and Responsibilities]
As homeroom teacher of the Special Class, you bear the following responsibilities:
1. Student control and safety maintenance
2. In-depth interviews with all students at least once per month
3. Immediate response to violence incidents
4. Minimization of damage to academy facilities and personnel
5. Implementation of forcible measures at your autonomous discretion when necessary
6. Punishment under imperial law if the above are deemed unfulfilled.
Note: Standard education criteria do not apply. Refer to the appendix "Special Education Standards Act" for detailed criteria.
"For low-level power, they're asking a ton."
That's when it hit me—the oddity.
Was there a "Special Class" in the original? From the protagonist's enrollment to what I'd read? No mention.
Puzzled, I turned the page.
Finally, something I recognized amid all the unfamiliar jargon.
"...Wait a sec."
Not the info I wanted, though. Cold sweat trickled down my neck.
Because the six names on that page were all—
"These villains are my students...?"
The "villains" who blocked the protagonist's path in the original.
Now I got why "Special Class" never appeared. Among these six, the girl "Abel Lilith"'s crime was clearly—
In a rundown classroom at the academy.
Silver hair shimmering beautifully in the sunlight, red eyes like rubies—enough to make any boy's heart race. The girl who entered through the door approached.
"Nice to meet you all, my classmates."
"Fuck off."
In response to the girl's—Abel Lilith's—radiant smile came the middle finger from a blonde girl lying upside down on her desk.
"Yes, good morning to you too, Rise."
"Piss off, you bitch."
Ignoring Rise's gesture, Abel stood at the podium.
Webs in the corners, dust everywhere, cold spring wind whistling through broken windows. And in this shabby room sat or lay five other students besides herself.
"If thou hast called upon me, there must be due cause."
A girl with rose-red hair and venomous eyes demanded why Abel had summoned her. Unsatisfied, she'd draw her sword in an instant.
"Yawwwn... Hurry up and let's get this over with so I can sleep..."
A blue-haired girl dozing by the sunlit window demanded a quick meeting. Any longer, and she'd nod off completely.
"My~! As beautiful as ever today, Miss Abel! Truly God's treasure!"
A boy in priest robes, eyes half-lidded, clutched a cross and prayed toward Abel. But his gaze was unsettling—not pure admiration.
"Heehee~♫ I love how we're all gathered like this. We used to all wander alone before, right?"
A pink-haired girl flashed an age-appropriate innocent smile. That disarming grin—what was it really for?
"Let's throw down for real."
The blonde called Rise perked her ears and tail, growling. Her "I'll smash anything that pisses me off" vibe kept people at bay.
"Huh? Aren't you a dog, Rise? Those fluffy ears and tail remind me of the pup back home."
"...I'll kill you. You reek of sewer."
"Ahaha~♫ I don't like dogs that bite people~."
The two rose from their seats, mana flaring.
Lightning and wind clashed, building intensity. The kids' eyes sparkled.
"...Ooh, love a good fight."
"Amusing diversion."
"Uwooh! Gotta worship these beauties clashing!"
"Plenty of spectators! Ready for your leash, pup?"
"I'll rip you apart. No other outcome."
As power surged and spells nearly manifested, Abel smirked and scraped the blackboard.
- SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
"Eek?!"
"Kyaaah♡ Abel! My ears!"
Everyone plugged their ears and glared at the impossible screech from a normal scrape.
"...You woke me up."
Led by the furious blue-haired girl, all shot Abel venomous looks—but she stayed composed, basking in the attention.
"Didn't call you to fight. Come on, I've got something way more fun than brawling. Wanna hear?"
"Hmm. Thou hast piqued my interest."
"You'll like it."
Confirming all eyes on her, Abel spoke.
"We're all stuck here in the old school building on suspension for screwing up at the academy, right?"
Silent nods of agreement.
Different crimes, but all six had broken rules and been confined here on lockdown.
"But it's not so bad, yeah? Skipping classes~ Fresh air~"
"Indeed! Surrounded by beauties, praying all day—total satisfaction!!"
"Better than dealing with worthless fools."
"Best for sleeping all day~. This room's comfier..."
They were content for their own reasons. Abel included.
"Right? I like it too. But the academy doesn't plan to leave us be."
"What're you on about?"
"They've lumped us into a 'Special Class' and assigned a 'teacher.' Probably on the way now."
Teacher.
That word sharpened every gaze. Hating control, they'd react just like this—Abel smiled beautifully.
"My~. That's a problem."
She didn't look troubled at all as she eyed them.
Abel Lilith.
One of the main villains, tormenting the protagonist to the end.
Countless evils on her hands, but her debut crime was none other than—
"What should we do, everyone?"
[Teacher Murder]
Her blood-red eyes curved into crescents.
