As Long as It's Not Me
Incheon Central District Prosecutors' Office grand conference room.
The country's largest gathering—some five hundred prosecutors—filled the seats from the front. Everyone had heard the stories about the recent entertainment industry sex bribery scandal and the controversy over Prosecutor Inaeun's seniority violation until their ears were numb, so they knew exactly what this meeting was about. Naturally, Prosecutor Inaeun was the talk of the town.
Everyone was whispering behind her back, and with hundreds doing it, the room buzzed noisily. Amid the chatter, the chief prosecutor stepped onto the stage. The seated prosecutors rose in unison, bowing sharply at the lead prosecutor's command. It almost looked like a mob ritual.
The chief stood ramrod straight and gave a slight nod. The prosecutors sat. He tapped the mic twice.
"This is Incheon Central District Prosecutors' Chief Lee Jung-jae. Over the past few days, we've had to fight off insults. Endure all sorts of persecution, pressure, and unspeakable slander. Sure, we get corrupt sometimes. We take bribes now and then, accept favors. But I have faith! Conviction! That faith is this: At the very least, the prosecutors in this building—we who wield the law as our weapon—are different from those barbarians out there with guns and knives. Different from the ignorant masses beyond the monitors who hurl blind abuse without even seeking the truth. And we have the belief that we can admit our own mistakes and repent."
"We can't stoop to their savage, ignorant level just because they come at us like that. Instead, we must reflect, acknowledge our faults, and become better."
Prosecutor Inaeun stifled a secret smirk. It was so absurd she had to laugh or she'd burst.
"Thus, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office has decided to establish a special prosecutor team to restore our tarnished honor. Location: Ganghwa District Prosecutors' Office. The special prosecutor is—" The chief looked at Inaeun. "—Prosecutor Inaeun of Criminal Division 3."
"…."
The room murmured with "we knew it" faces.
"As of this moment, I hereby declare all irrational measures against Special Prosecutor Inaeun lifted. And if any such incidents occur again, there will be corresponding actions."
Inaeun held back from asking, 'So where's the part about gladly admitting and repenting your own mistakes?' Watching the stiff-backed chief squirm to avoid bending even a little was kinda funny. It even tickled her dry emotions a bit. She rose with a faint smile.
"What are the special prosecutor's powers?"
"…You'll be provided with a Terminator."
"!!!"
"A Terminator?"
"Isn't that too dangerous…."
The room erupted far louder than before. The chief raised a hand, and the noise died instantly.
"Special Prosecutor Inaeun will function as an independent judicial and enforcement body. She and her assigned prosecutors will be equipped with Terminators. She'll lead them. That's all."
The prosecutors stood again, faces a mix of shock. The Terminator was the ultimate authority a prosecutor could wield—a weapon and system allowing on-site execution without a trial. Sure, it came with regulations and massive political heat, but it meant judge, jury, and executioner in one. Giving it to a special team signaled this wasn't some half-assed time-filler; they meant business.
'This'll be fun,' Inaeun thought, hurrying off as the stares turned intriguing. With her staff dead, she had work to do.
"As our police took on a more militarized role, leaving gaps in investigations, the prosecutors stepped in back then. With all the chaos, the authorities figured sticking to old protocols wouldn't allow quick responses."
"So that's when the Terminator—capable of summary executions—was introduced?"
"Yes."
So that's the backstory. In the game, it's a legendary-rated weapon you mostly snag by storming a prosecutors' office. Doesn't show up much otherwise. If you go the "build a new world on justice's side" route, it pops up a lot, but that's not my path, so who knows.
"Y-you don't know? There's this famous drama."
Sua suddenly struck a pistol grip pose, thrusting it forward with knees bent.
"Swift Execution System Terminator! Please judge the crime carefully and execute!"
*Bang!*
She even voiced the 'bang!' herself.
"Then the head goes boom!"
She was having a blast.
"…But isn't that something cops do too? You just blast away like that."
"Pfft… That's only 'cause Master's backing me up~. If I was just some random team leader with nothing, no way."
"Really?"
For someone who blew heads off so casually, though.
"Anyway, Prosecutor Inaeun's now special prosecutor with a Terminator…. Things are rolling better than planned. So we just storm the agencies and start shooting?"
"I-it's possible with Master's backing, but… Instead of a massacre right in central Ganghwa, wouldn't it be better to follow procedure? Usually, you need 'clear' evidence like non-cooperation or fleeing."
"They run, so they're guilty. Boom. That vibe?"
"Yes. And honestly, it's less about killing and more 'We're this serious, so confess properly.' Sex bribery isn't a death penalty crime, right?"
"True."
"Like, 'We're pissed, so fess up nice.'"
"Gotcha."
I must've riled them up too much. They're furious. But weren't they the ones pulling seniority bullshit first? No one held a knife to their throats forcing them to harass Inaeun, right?
'…Shit, in this world, maybe someone did.'
Ahem. I called Inaeun. She picked up before it even rang twice.
Quick check-in and hung up. Those agencies involved in sex bribes? They're done. Only Goryeo Entertainment and Rainbow Miracle survive.
Emilia's getting antsy as shit hits the fan. Tough exterior, but soft inside.
Bombs dropping daily. Waking up to news feels like a dopamine rush.
"Reporter Yoon Ha-young's been super active. Guilt over her team leader, maybe."
"Trying to atone by jailing every scum doing this shit."
"Yeah… something like that? Though Ha-young's actually Master's pussy house now."
"And she's working under my pussy house Inaeun, benefiting me. Wonder what face she'll make when she learns the truth."
What'll it be? Total despair and giving up? Or still screaming justice? Yoon's shown the latter's possible.
"Oh, investigation today? Rainbow Miracle was yesterday?"
"Yes. Per Inaeun's docs, they're cleared. She's coming personally today—wanna watch?"
"Nah."
Been a while since I held Inaeun, but busy today.
"Lots of celebs dumped contracts after this scandal?"
"Yeah, tons in lawsuits too."
"Grab the clean actresses, idols. Models fine too."
"Got it, Master."
