Don't Get in the Way of My Work
"A PMC named White Snow Princess?..."
Gong Seo-young grumbled as she signed the contract. After I'd fucked her and she threw a massive tantrum crying and screaming, the moment I actually presented the real contract, she went, "Eh...? F-for real?" and shut up instantly. She must've thought I was just gonna eat her up and toss her aside.
What the hell does this bitch take me for... I'm the guy who took in Yoon Ha-young, that stubborn-headed flower-brained reporter who was a total pain in my ass, and turned her into a useful pussy house. As if I'd just fuck and dump for someone like her. No way in hell.
"Hey, you sure it's okay to just sign like that without negotiating or anything?"
She signed with a flourish. She skimmed through the clauses, nodded right away, and scribbled her name—enough to make even me worry. I'd heard her old company, Sky Force, was a total black company with shit treatment, so maybe she was just relieved. But signing like this, she might get duped into being the fall guy.
"Huh? Why worry when the salary's five times higher?"
"Oh, yeah?"
Five times? I threw that out casually...
"Plus medical support for injuries, compensation for damages, six months' pay upfront for serious wounds with separate medical coverage, and if you end up disabled, free implants plus job security...! This is basically utopia!"
No fucking way—a PMC, a war company, and this is basic shit, but she calls it utopia? How goddamn awful was her last place? Can't even imagine.
"Glad you like it."
She'd just been raped by me minutes ago, yet here she was, beaming innocently and earnestly signing the deal. Tough mental fortitude on this one.
"But why's the company called White Snow Princess? Doesn't suit it."
"'Cause the CEO's named Baekseol."
"..."
Gong Seo-young went quiet for a moment.
"You just thought that was tactless, right?"
"Huh? N-no, what are you talking about? I think it's great."
"Lying. It's all over your face."
I flicked her hard on the forehead.
"Ow...!"
After arriving at the artificial island—Mu-yeol Land—I sent Gong Seo-young to the resident doctors for a checkup. Basic exam first, and if there's anything seriously wrong, straight to Goryeo Medical to fix it all up.
"Seung-hee, pull up the map."
"Yes."
A full overhead view of the artificial island spread out before me. With the forest mostly cleared and the prison site finalized, it was time to put this place to real use. No way I'm wasting all this land just on a prison, right? It's a tenth the size of Incheon City. Gonna house weapons depots, military supplies, medical centers, companies—you name it.
Top candidates? Obviously Goryeo Militaris and Goryeo Medical first. Then maybe Goryeo Chemicals next.
But here's the snag: bringing them here feels like inviting watchdogs into my private space. My aunts already monitor my every move like hawks, and adding more...? Sure, the aunts are hot and great, but still... something feels off.
Can't outright refuse, though. The island's main public excuse is the prison ops. Me, grandson of the Goryeo Group chair, running a prison without Goryeo Militaris or Medical? That'd look suspicious as hell. Might even hurt the aunts' feelings.
Medical checkups on me have to stay top-secret. Even the aunts can't see.
Medical data's ultra-sensitive. Especially mind scan results—if that leaks to the owner family...
Who the hell knows how shit would unfold. Gotta avoid that at all costs.
Guess medical stuff goes to Baekseol then.
Someone who'll never betray me and can master the knowledge fast. She even said she'd study enough to do implants on me. Not that I can right now...
If it weren't for Grandpa, I'd be loaded with implants by now.
Grandpa—and the whole owner family's—view on implants is shit. They see 'em as marks for the lowly masses, like stamps on slaves' foreheads or chests to separate them from free folk. Pure flesh symbol for the trash.
Eh, cyberpunk trope as old as time—chaebols hating implants, loving pure bodies. No surprise. In a world full of cyberware and cyborgs, where human, machine, and robot blur, that "pure human" superiority is the chaebol elite's badge.
Same here. If I, the Goryeo Group's firstborn grandson, get implants? Reaction like I relapsed on drugs. So, on hold.
But I'll squeeze way more from the family down the line...
Cut losses on the impossible, double down where it works.
Grandpa's all-in on anti-aging biotech anyway. No issue there.
Advanced biotech's basically robotics, right...? Hmm, something off. Whatever—plenty of options there to ease the regret.
"Baekseol, you still studying?"
"Huh?"
She tilted her head at the sudden question, then remembered and nodded.
"Ah, yes! I am, my lord."
"Good. Keep at it. You're the only one I can trust my body to."
"!! P-please entrust it to me."
"Yeah."
Patted her head appropriately, then ordered Seung-hee.
"Build a Goryeo Group complex here. Scout Militaris, Medical, Chemicals—anything useful to me—and get 'em in. Draw up ops plans."
"Yes."
"This area's culture and entertainment district. Folks on the island can't leave without my say-so, so they need fun inside. No bringing in hooker dives, though. Whole island's a no-prostitution zone."
"What kind then?"
"Vote on it or conference it yourselves."
"Vote...?"
Ah, right—no residents yet. Just Ha Eun-young and Ma Yeon-ju; not enough for a vote.
"Those fallen female celebs on the rocks?"
"The ones blacklisted after sex-for-favors scandals?"
"Yeah. What're they doing now?"
"Living off savings waiting for chances, or if broke, already in the sex trade."
"Skip the sex trade ones. Round up all the ones just laying low and stick 'em on the island. Poll 'em for the entertainment district plans."
"Got it."
"This spot for drugs."
Since I'm distributing, I need full synthesis routes for production. Lots of trial and error, maybe sourcing raw materials directly—cultivation too. Use this land for that.
I kept throwing out ideas, fleshing out the design. Might overhaul later, but this for now. As the core of my future power base, I put max effort in.
"Hey, when's ownership transferring?"
Surprisingly, papers still list it under an aunt. To shift to my management corp? Still needs time and procedures.
"About a week."
"Just paperwork? Why so long...?"
"Artificial islands have tons of laws and regs... Honestly, parking one off-city coast like this is kinda illegal on a broad view."
"Everything's illegal."
"Strategically, it's a threat to the city... Like anchoring an aircraft carrier offshore. Natural for laws to pop up. Plus from residents' view—"
"..."
She flinched under my stare and bowed her head.
"Whose side you on?"
"Huh? No—"
I grabbed and teased her mercilessly.
"Eek!"
"Tack on one extra word, huh. Need to punish you good."
"S-sorryyy!! Ahhn!"
After a solid teasing session, she panted and slid bonelessly to the floor.
"Ahh...!"
"Who's the Namdong District assembly member?"
"N-Namdong?"
"Gotta talk to city council too. Who's Namdong's rep?"
"Ah."
Seung-hee snapped to and stood.
"Namdong's district head is Yeo Chae-rin of the Progressive Innovation Party. Namdong A: Kim Eun-ji of Better Future Party. Namdong B: Jeong Kyung-min of Equality Freedom Constitution Party."
"Total mess."
Three-way clusterfuck...
"Closest to Namdong Industrial Complex is Kim Eun-ji in A. District's mostly the complex... Used to house city hall decades ago—Incheon's political ground zero—but now just criticized as a seat-warmer."
"Oh... Woman?"
"Yes. Rising star, young."
"Call her."
