The Crusade of the Male Liberation Front
"This looks like a good place to start!" I moved my settler to a location surrounded by plenty of rice and a river to found my city. "This time, I'm going for a religious victory."
"I think it'll be fine if I just use the doctrines well."
Civilization has five main ways to win: Science, Culture, Domination, Religion, and Diplomacy. Among these, a religious victory is achieved when the religion you founded becomes the dominant religion of all civilizations. Of course, it's incredibly difficult to win if there are many civilizations, but the current map is medium-sized, and there are seven leaders including me. In other words, it was a manageable situation, and I felt it would be a waste not to use the Male King's unique traits.
"First, let's send out a scout to expand our vision."
As soon as I founded the city, I started producing a scout unit, and I prepared my science and social policies according to a plan suited for a religious victory. "Believe it or not, I've played 500 hours of Civ 6." Of course, to a real veteran, 500 hours is nothing, but...
"What should I name the religion?" I asked the viewers as I continued the game.
- MaleSupremeism
- Hmm... All-Boys High School?
"Hmm... nothing really catches my eye."
Anonymous donated 1,000 KRW: Male Liberation Front
"...Okay, deal!" It doesn't quite fit my RP, but it was impressive, so I'll make an exception just for today.
As time passed, I met several civilizations. I made contact with various civilizations, such as America led by Theodore Roosevelt and Kongo led by Mvemba a Nzinga, and successfully spread the Male Liberation Front.
"Hello. I am Mohandas Gandhi. My people call me Bapu, but you may call me friend."
"Ugh... Gandhi shows up."
- Try proselytizing. He'll just nuke you~~
- How do you do it?
"I'll just have to keep aiming for the religion."
Using the 'Torchbearers'—a unique unit that can form legions from the early game—I could easily defeat Gandhi, whom I met in the Classical Era. Of course, the war elephants were a concern, but if I didn't finish him off now, the religious victory would be a pipe dream.
"I'll gather my troops and head out. I saw walls in his capital, so I'll prepare catapults."
I wanted to produce trebuchets, which are better for sieges, but I chose catapults because they could be produced quickly, as I needed to eliminate Gandhi as soon as possible. A few turns later, I had enough military units to start a war and missionaries prepared to spread the faith and multiply the Torchbearers.
"Then, I'm declaring a surprise war." I pressed the surprise war declaration button.
"My efforts to avoid violence have all been in vain. If we continue to repay evil with evil, the whole world will go blind." I watched the scene of Gandhi getting angry.
"I'll finish this quickly. I need to minimize the war penalties."
As I expected, Gandhi couldn't exert his power properly in the early game. His war elephants were few in number due to their high production cost, and the few he had were turned into Torchbearers through my missionaries.
"It's almost over now." I had only one capital city left to conquer before his surrender.
- You're killing Gandhi this fast?
- You're not going to see India's nukes?
"So what? If you're salty, go play as Gandhi yourself." I taunted the viewers and finished off the last city.
"You may chain me, you may torture me, you may even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind." Hearing Gandhi's defeat quote, I felt a slight sense of disappointment.
"Ah. The game is too easy, so I don't feel motivated. It would be great if someone gave me a mission..."
- Typical baldy
- What kind of mission?
- PpippoPpi: Wouldn't you be motivated if there was a penalty?
As I refused the penalty, a new mission popped up.
Win a religious victory as the Male King: 10,000 KRW
"Oh. Which kind sister set this up for me?" I checked who had set the mission...
"Youngsu?" The ID asdf123 appeared on the screen. 'He ignored my messages, but he's watching my stream...' Perhaps ignoring my messages was a form of silent denial. I didn't intend to force my way into his life, so I decided to let it slide.
"My senior slave told me to just do penalties, but our Youngsu is giving me a mission! From today, you're my senior!"
- The slave doesn't even know this lol
- PpippoPpi: I'm the junior?
- Oh, welcome new slave.
Suffer a natural disaster: 1,000 KRW
"A natural disaster?" One of the DLCs for Civ 6 adds random natural disasters. They include floods, droughts, storms, and volcanic eruptions. "Hey, one might happen, but will it happen enough to ruin the game?" Having just caught Gandhi and feeling excited, I accidentally set a proper flag.
"Sigh... are you serious?" A sudden flood in the Medieval Era. Extreme drought in the Modern Era. And a wildfire in the final Information Era... Of course, natural disasters in Civ 6 have some bonus elements as compensation after you resolve them, but watching the city I had planned out turn into a mess, and trying to fix it, was extremely difficult.
Because of this, the development speed of my Chinese civilization, which was already slow, showed a significant gap compared to other civilizations, and now a religious victory was the only answer. The era had reached the final Future Era. However, that was only by my civilization's standards; other civilizations were less than 30 turns away from a science or culture victory. A major problem in this situation was that the Male Liberation Front I created had not been recognized as a popular religion in Brazil, the last civilization I discovered.
"Sigh... I have no choice." It seems it's time to execute the special operation I learned from the neighboring country. I flooded every city's production line with Torchbearers.
- Are you throwing the game?
- Why are you producing them individually instead of as a legion?
Since Torchbearers are units that can be produced from the Classical Era, they don't take much time to produce. "I'll produce missionaries as soon as I have the faith..."
A few turns later, when over ten Torchbearers were produced, I declared war on America, which was currently closest to victory.
- Can you handle the penalty?
Ignoring the terrified viewers, I started moving the Torchbearers. "Let's go, Torchbearers." My Torchbearers performed a body-slam attack on the American city... and the effect was tremendous...! Using the effect that lowers the loyalty of the city when a Torchbearer dies, the American city, which was conducting its final science project, became independent. With this, I gained about 20 turns of time.
- You crazy b*tch, crazy b*tch...
- Such a strategy... are you even a woman?
'So what? I'm actually a man.' While teasing the viewers who were criticizing me for not being a woman, I moved my missionaries to Brazil.
"Ah... I'm a bit nervous." Since Brazil also has its own religion created in their country, I wasn't sure if the missionaries I currently had could make the Male Liberation Front the popular religion of Brazil. "Wait... couldn't I just body-slam them with Torchbearers?" If it becomes an independent city, it will be easier to spread the faith than before.
"Let's go again!!!" I declared war on Brazil and performed the Torchbearer body-slam!!! As a result, the Male King I was playing as was branded a warmonger and received public condemnation from various civilizations, but...
"The only thing I care about is victory!!!"
- You war-crazed maniac
- The religion name and your actions are so different?
Eventually, my Torchbearer kamikaze attack was successful, and I achieved a religious victory.
"We have an instinct to believe in something greater than ourselves. We are in the darkness..." Now, the narration announcing the religious victory was heard on the game screen.
"Whew... I barely won."
- Does this look like a victory to you?
- You got nuked by America and were internationally ostracized?
"So what! Don't you see the Religious Victory here? A win is a win. So I'll be taking this mission money!" Pressing the success button on the victory mission, which had accumulated up to 50,000 KRW by now, I wore a happy smile.
"If it weren't for the natural disaster trolling, I would have played happily..."
- I made a PPT of this guy laughing while throwing Torchbearers
- Ah, it's PT, not PPT;;
- ...Is the level of viewers here really like this?
"Yes. It is. You'll be like that soon too. Hehehe." I read the chat from the viewers in my room, chatted a bit more, and then ended the broadcast.
