Chapter Title: Black History Confirmed from Debut!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
With yesterday's streams wrapping up, every last debut broadcast for the remaining two members was finally done.
After uploading the edited videos to the newly created Clip Channel,
I decided to log into a community I'd occasionally visited back in the day.
The familiar banner instantly put my mind at ease.
Back when Blue LUV first debuted not long ago, I'd lurked here a ton.
It was the only place where posts about them would even pop up, anyway.
There were other communities, sure, but those were for folks focused on overseas VTubers, so anything about Blue LUV got insta-banned.
"Whoa, tons of posts...?"
A faint gasp slipped from my lips as I checked the timestamps on the recent ones.
Word was, this place had been half-dead before Blue LUV's debut.
Made sense, with the domestic VTuber scene barely active back then.
But thanks to Blue LUV's debut streams yesterday, posts were piling up left and right.
View counts were through the roof, too.
Seeing it all as the Blues' influence made me puff up with pride for no reason.
"Ahem..."
I cleared my throat dramatically and scrolled down nice and slow.
A bunch of eye-catching titles jumped out.
Yep, just from the titles, tons of praise.
The Blues' avatar quality was seriously top-tier, no doubt.
And Chae-yoon unnie... no, Lilith's singing performance was full of passion, too.
"Huh?"
I was about to skim a few top-recommended posts and bounce,
when one post towering over the rest with 300+ recs caught my eye.
Whoa, but the title...?
Click.
I cautiously clicked, and the post unfolded.
All you VTuber fans lurking the gallery know Blue LUV's debut streams were two days ago, right? So, here to recommend a Mityube channel. The pros already know, but obviously it's the Clip Channel. (Screenshot of channel name) Channel name's 'Blue Oshi' as you can see. Probably named that 'cause all the Blues are oshi material. But this channel's video quality and upload speed? Straight-up psychotic. Yukiko and Lilith's debut streams ended at 6 and 7 PM, and the mashup video dropped before 2 AM. (Screenshot of upload time) Know what's the craziest part? Every video has subtitles in English, Japanese, and Indonesian. Skeptics, go check. Couldn't verify JP/Indo 'cause my skills suck, but English? Lived abroad for studies, so I checked—subtitle quality's unhinged AF. Basically transcendent translation. Makes you wonder why they're clipping instead of being a pro translator. Anyway, if you can't catch the lives, just subscribe, no excuses.
Gasp, what the—.
That's my channel?
It got shoutout as a recommended channel here?
Never experienced this as a guy, so I was a bit thrown.
Makes sense, though.
When I first started clipping Blue LUV, my editing skills were way worse than now.
Then Blue LUV blew up—topping broadcast charts, charting overseas.
Watching them grow, I grew too, and subs piled up steadily.
Thinking about it, I'd come a long way myself.
Somehow felt proud.
What the hell's President Kang doing, not kidnapping this talent?
Someone like me lololol quality slaps
A warm swell of pride hit me as I skimmed the comments experimentally.
Figured there'd be at least one complaint mixed in.
Surprisingly, all glowing praise.
Hehe, phew.
At least my skills won't drag the Blues down.
Gotta keep grinding.
I was just about to read the last comment and close the tab to prep my debut stream.
Huh? Last member's video?
They mean me?
Nah, no way.
No one's really expecting my vid anyway.
Better to upload one more Blue vid in that time.
"Uhhe..."
With prep done, I checked the group chat and saw messages from the members.
Each one in their own warm, caring style—pure encouragement.
Seeing them, the heavy lump in my chest lightened a bit.
Alright, screw it—let's do this!
"Surely the setup's..."
I'd set up the stream gear already, but just in case, time for a final check.
Broadcast equipment's more fiddly than expected, but the manual makes it learnable.
...Not that I'll admit the first day it arrived, I botched install so bad a company staffer came to help.
Mic's a tad high—lower it a smidge...
Adjust monitor position now too.
Can't accidentally bump it mid-stream and flash my face.
Good, set.
10 minutes to go—time to boot up and play the video from the company.
At 4:49 turning to 50.
Exactly 10 minutes before start, as requested, I clicked the video.
Like the other members' debuts: countdown and intro comic-style.
Stream went live, and viewers trickled in, chatting with hype.
Familiar sight from the others' debuts—made me smile.
Wonder how long these 10 minutes feel for them.
Hell, it did for me too.
The day before yesterday and yesterday, during the Blues' back-to-back debuts.
Makes sense—as a diehard Pista who got into them months after debut, live debuts were uncharted territory.
Even regretted it later.
Why wasn't I there?!
Why wasn't I stanning back then?!
Stuff like that.
If I could time-travel to then, I'd camp the live for sure.
Had those silly thoughts.
Most shocking? It actually happened.
"He..."
Waiting room nearing 4,000—smile crept up automatically.
Not delusions of it all being for me, of course.
Just snagged interest meant for President and the Blues mid-way.
But paradoxically, that's why it's thrilling.
So many people care about Blue LUV as a group.
If I nail this stream, that love for the Blues grows even more.
Time up—countdown kicked off.
I watched the video along with the viewers.
Uwaaack!
Somehow so embarrassing.
Yesterday, the others' intro vids? Zero feels.
No, actually fun.
Why's mine hit different—pure cringe?
Probably the huge gap from my real self.
Kind, cute kid showered in love? Who dis.
Is that why President skipped me for dubbing?
Others all did their own voices.
Wondered why she ghosted me on it.
To hide this, duh.
Whirrr—
Magic-girl effect sound.
Uparupa swimming in clear water transforms into a little girl.
My current avatar.
Human Uparupa ventures out, somehow ends up in Blue LUV.
Short comic intro wrapped.
Finally, my stream screen and avatar popped up.
Chat exploded.
I leaned into the mic with my prepped greeting.
But for some reason...
Chat reactions were off.
Looks like my words didn't broadcast.
What gives?
Mic's definitely on?
Setup per staff instructions...
Even tested a morning stream.
"...Gasp!"
Frantically poking gear,
I spotted the volume knob at 0.
Did I knock it down post-test?
No memory...
Anyway, found the issue—cranked it up,
then tested into the mic.
"A—."
My voice came through headphones.
Problem: broadcast sounded like hall-echo screams, "A, A, A..." hollow and booming.
Yup.
Wrong knob—I'd tweaked the mic echo control.
"Eek...!"
Realization hit with a shrill yelp—but way too late.
Mic still hot, so even the yelp faintly broadcasted.
Thus, my debut stream...
As one viewer said, it went straight to total dogshit disaster.
