If You Leave Home, You'll Suffer Like a Dog (1)
"Ugh..."
I swallowed a groan from the massive shard of glass embedded in my shoulder.
This chilling, heavy sensation.
It'd been fucking ages.
Not welcome at all.
But me and glass? We were never gonna be buddies.
How many times had this shitty thing punched a hole in my body already?
"You fucking idiot...! You think it makes sense that you're the one shielding us?!"
Lilith yelled at me, her face twisted in fury.
"Yeah, fucking tell me about it..."
That was all I could say in response.
"This... fucking moron..."
She muttered, staring at me.
Unlike me, neither Lilith nor Hoaran would've gotten hurt by something like this. Yet here I was, the one who'd ended up injured trying to protect them, looking like a total dumbass.
But what could I do?
My body moved on instinct.
In that split second, my mind flashed not to how much tougher Lilith and Hoaran were than me, or how they wouldn't get hurt by shit like this anyway—but just that I had to protect them first.
The result? I was in fucking agony.
"G-Get out of the way...! Hoaran, heal this idiot!"
"Understood. And be careful. It looks like the same type as what I saw before."
"That thing from back then? Hmph, yeah, it's those bastards... These fuckers, hitting us not once but twice now..."
Lilith ground her teeth with a crunch, slipping out of my arms. She shattered the enclosure holding the doppelgangers, then lunged at the thing that had been gobbling them up and swelling its body.
Well, "lunged" might not be precise.
She still had no wings thanks to Hoaran's spell.
More like she kicked off the ground and leaped.
It was close enough to flying.
"You fucking shits, you're all dead meat...!"
The monster didn't even glance her way, too busy cramming doppelgangers down its gullet. Lilith swung her fist.
Only then did it react, lazily whipping out a tentacle to block her punch.
But it shouldn't have done that.
Splat—the tentacle burst on impact. But Lilith's fist didn't stop; it slammed straight into the monster's body.
"Gaaah—?!"
It was less a pained groan and more a thunderous roar echoing through a massive cave as the thing got crushed.
Squish.
Gripping the monster tight, Lilith clenched her fist again.
"Die...!"
BOOM!
The monster's body shuddered violently from the blow, then exploded with a wet pop.
And just like before, beneath the bursting slime, a face appeared.
Not the white-haired bitch from last time, but a handsome man with long ears.
"You're the real one, huh?! Die, you fucking shit...!"
Though Lilith's rising knee turned that handsome face into mush right after.
Crunch—teeth fragments sprayed everywhere.
That had to be fatal.
Or so I thought. The scattered slime reformed, slithering back to the monster.
It wasn't dead...?
"It'll hurt a bit, so bear with it, Hanjo."
In that brief moment, Hoaran yanked the glass from my shoulder and started healing me with her spells. The bleeding stopped fast.
But...
"I'm good now. Help the others."
I said it to Hoaran, who was still treating my half-healed wound.
"But, Hanjo."
"I'm really fine."
There were tons of people hurt way worse than me.
Right as I'd grabbed Lilith and Hoaran, Hoaran had thrown up a barrier spell around the explosion radius.
But it all happened so suddenly—some folks didn't get fully covered.
Even I got pierced in the shoulder by a stray shard that slipped through. Plenty others were shredded by the flying glass.
Some were already goners.
Shards hitting faces or hearts— instant deaths. Others were gasping their last breaths.
I was lucky; just a big chunk in the shoulder, and being right next to Hoaran meant I got decent barrier protection.
Fucking unlucky to get hit anyway.
But Hoaran pulled it out and healed me up fine. No big deal.
So priority was saving those who still had a shot.
"...Understood."
Hoaran nodded and moved to help the others.
I tried to stand too, but my shoulder throbbed. I clutched it.
"Fuck, seriously..."
I'd told Hoaran I was fine, but even her spells couldn't heal everything instantly.
It still stung like a bitch.
But it was enough.
I dug into my pocket and pulled out some panties.
Gifts from Eileya, Liliana—tokens like that. Time to rub 'em on my face.
"Sniiff..."
Perverted as fuck, but they weren't as potent as Lilith's panties from before. Had to do it.
And thanks to that...
Thump-thump-thump-thump!
My heart pounded wildly. My dick started hardening.
With it, my Gift activated.
Werewolf traits surged through me, healing the lingering scratches everywhere.
Shoulder wound, scrapes—all closing up in seconds.
"Alright, resurrection complete."
No more throbbing. Fully revived.
A bit dizzy from blood loss, but my enhanced werewolf regen from hugging Eileya so much covered it with change to spare.
Hell, I could probably come back from near-death with just a boner at this point.
Not that...
"This fucker won't fucking die...!"
Even after Lilith's knee turned its face to paste and half its neck dangled, it kept shooting tentacles at her. She smashed them away fist after fist in a monster brawl.
I wasn't cut out to jump in there.
Looked like I'd just get in her way.
"Lemme help. What do I do?"
I rushed to Hoaran, who was treating the injured.
She was healing a guy choking on glass in his throat. She glanced at me, assessed the situation, and said,
"First, move the wounded from here. Lilith can't go all out with them in the way."
That explained why Lilith was stuck defending instead of attacking.
"Got it."
I nodded and told the less-injured to haul ass out.
Those who could staggered to their feet and bolted from this hellhole.
Not everyone, though.
"Wh-what the hell is that...?"
Some shocked uncle was frozen. I ran over.
"Hey, fucker, didn't you hear me? Run or die?!"
He just sat there dazed.
No wonder—people dying right in front of him, blood everywhere.
Time for tough love.
Slap!
I smacked his cheek, grabbed him as he toppled, and yanked him up.
"Don't wanna die? Then go!"
"Y-yeah...!"
He finally scrambled away.
Left were the immobile ones Hoaran was treating.
I hoisted up someone who wouldn't croak immediately to carry out—
BOOM!
Another explosion. A black tentacle monster charged our way.
"Holy shit, for real."
Not just one.
But fuck.
No one to block this new one.
Hoaran could handle it, but then who'd help the downed folks who couldn't move?
Tons needed treatment or they'd die.
She had no spare hands.
"Fuckin' hell. This is why they say leaving home turns you into a dog."
Should've just trained spells at home.
Now I'd dragged us into a fight with a monster wrestling full-power Lilith.
"GRRAAAAH!"
It rushed to help its buddy getting dogpiled by Lilith.
I set the guy down gently and charged the monster.
"You ugly fucking mutt!"
It ignored me, barreling toward Lilith.
This way, it'd trample the survivors on the floor.
Fuck, I just wanted to buy time.
But no aggro.
No choice—tank it.
Unlike that bitch who wore the suit inside-out like a moron, this one looked dumber playing natural.
"Hngh...!"
I thrust my hand out at the charging beast aiming to trample me.
Crunch...!
Fuck, so strong..!
Even with boosted werewolf strength, slowing it was my limit. No stopping it.
"Graaah?"
It finally noticed, looking down at me.
Our eyes met.
"Hey, you rotten-cum-looking fuck?"
Looked like dogshit too.
Finally paying attention.
"GRRAAAAH!"
It freaked, tentacles lashing out.
No interest in tentacle hentai with this thing.
But couldn't run now.
So...
"GRRRAAAAHHH!!"
Crack-crack-crack...!
Teeth gritted, I heaved the monster up.
"Grah...?"
It looked shocked to be lifted.
Face? Just a writhing tentacle mess.
"Fuck off—!"
I threw it with everything I had.
More like flung it ragdoll-style.
THUD!
It crashed down. My arms dangled, numb from the lift.
So damn heavy—shoulders popped.
"Hup...!"
But I powered through.
Tensed my shoulders—arms good as new.
Force concentration, I guess.
Distributing power to specific body parts naturally now.
Can't go full super strength 24/7—makes daily life hell. Figured this out while learning control.
Handy for all sorts of shit.
Dislocated shoulder? Pump all regen to arms—instant fix.
Super tiring, but stamina's overflowing anyway.
"GRRAAAAH!"
The monster thrashed up.
Just knocked down, not hurt. Expected.
But...
"GRAAAAAH!"
Aggro locked in tight.
It rose, pissed, sprouting tentacles everywhere, writhing.
I grinned.
"Come at me, fucker."
