The Depths of Winter: Seamstress of the Giant Nest
The massive artificial cavern had been engineered to block every trace of light and heat from the surface world. The underground food warehouse of a powerless big-box mart was swallowing the turning of the seasons with no protection whatsoever. The crisp chill of late autumn that had once ruled the outside had already vanished, replaced by the brutal midwinter cold that froze marrow in the bone. It crept upward along the concrete floor like something alive.
Hsssssss. Whiiiiiiing. The gale pouring down through the ventilation shafts sounded like ten thousand razor blades scattered through the air. “Haaa… It’s cold… So, so cold…”
Eunha huddled in the pitch-black darkness, shivering violently as she clutched her own shoulders with both arms. She had zipped the thick black fleece hoodie all the way to her throat, yet it was useless against the absolute zero of the underground storage. Far worse was the completely exposed state of her lower body. Only hours earlier those delicate membranes had been mercilessly torn and stretched around the savage lust of a ninety-kilogram beast. The slick insides of her thighs and the skin of her buttocks, still soaked with the creature’s forty-degree body heat and more than three hundred milliliters of sticky semen, were now freezing solid the instant they met the frigid air. The sensation of foreign matter congealing against her flesh was grotesquely unpleasant and only accelerated the loss of body heat.
Clack. Clack-clack. Clack. Her upper and lower teeth collided uncontrollably, producing a sickening chatter. White puffs of breath leaked endlessly between her bloodless lips. The nerves in her legs had already crossed into the numb threshold just before frostbite, firing only the excruciating pain of a thousand needles stabbing her skin.
She had lit a small fire for survival, but one modest flame could never raise the temperature of an entire underground logistics warehouse. That was when it happened.
Bang! The iron door leading into the storage area burst open with a violent crash. Eunha flinched and lifted her head. The hypersensitive nose of a blind woman sliced through the cold air and swallowed the thick, suffocating wave of male pheromones that rolled toward her. The one and only absolute predator in this world who could rip her apart and still allow her to breathe—Taeo.
Thud. Thud. Heavy footsteps approached, accompanied by the wet scraping sound of something enormous and bulky being dragged across the floor. Taeo’s breathing was rougher and deeper than usual. He had clearly torn apart the mart’s upper floors—most likely the bedding and camping sections—like a beast possessed.
Thump. Flutter. Taeo dropped the colossal bundle he had been carrying in his jaws at Eunha’s feet. A soft, heavy mass of fabric spilled over her bare legs and collapsed onto the freezing floor.
“Taeo…? What… what is all this?”
With trembling hands she reached out and carefully explored the mountain blocking her path. The textures that met her frozen fingertips were astonishingly soft and warm. Thick winter sleeping bags of smooth nylon, luxuriously quilted premium goose-down comforters, and microfleece blankets as plush as animal fur lay tangled together. The giant mutated wolf had ripped every insulating material he could find from the surface and dragged it down here to save his fragile mate from freezing to death.
A low, rumbling huff vibrated from his chest as he nudged the pile of blankets closer to her body with his massive snout—an instinctive command to climb inside and warm herself. Eunha swallowed the surge of emotion and began spreading the comforters and blankets across the floor. She layered several thick camping mats over the icy concrete to create a basic insulating foundation, then covered them with microfleece. But it still wasn’t enough.
She didn’t need blankets to cover her own fifty-kilogram body alone. The only truly powerful heater she could rely on in this hellish cold was the forty-degree biological furnace radiating from the ninety-kilogram beast. She needed a single colossal shared comforter—a giant tent-like nest—that could envelop both his enormous frame and her own, trapping every degree of heat inside.
I have to sew them. All of them. Stitch them into one.
She desperately groped through the miscellaneous items Taeo had dropped alongside the blankets. Her fingers found the sharp corners of a plastic sewing kit—the kind commonly sold in the household section. Taking a deep breath, she opened it. For a blind woman, threading a slender needle and stitching the edges of thick winter comforters was torture beyond imagination.
“Huu… Haa…” Her fingers shook as she gripped the cold needle with one hand and felt for the thick nylon thread with the other. She sucked the end of the thread to a point, then, relying solely on the microscopic sensitivity of her fingertips, searched for the eye of the needle and pushed the thread through. After dozens of failed attempts, she finally succeeded. She overlapped the edges of two goose-down comforters and drove the needle in.
Rip. Tug. Forcing the needle through dense, cotton-packed fabric required tremendous strength. Her frozen finger joints screamed with every motion. Push the needle through, pull it from the other side, repeat. But in her sightless state she misjudged the thickness; when she forced the next stitch, disaster struck.
Thrust! “Aaaah! Ow, ow, ow!” The sharp point of the needle that had punched through the fabric drove mercilessly into the first joint of her slender index finger. The sickening sensation of skin being pierced and a capillary bursting sent white-hot pain shooting up her spine into her brain. Eunha cried out and dropped the needle, clutching her wounded finger. Hot droplets of blood welled up and scattered the metallic scent of iron into the cold air.
In that instant—
A deep, guttural growl exploded from the darkness. Sniff. Sniff. The massive body that had been quietly watching her sprang up like a steel trap. The scent of his female’s blood was the single most powerful trigger for a predator’s nervous system. Taeo closed the distance in a heartbeat and lowered his head to her knees.
The scorching heat of the giant furred mass washed over her face. Then his wet, heavy nose found the bleeding finger and rubbed against it roughly.
“Ah, ngh… Taeo, it’s okay. The needle just—”
Before she could finish, his enormous jaws parted.
Slurp. Lick. Sluuuurp. A rough, thick tongue sliced through the air and enveloped her injured finger completely. Hundreds of tiny papillae scraped gently across the torn flesh in a sensation that raised goosebumps across her entire body. At the same time, the dense, viscous saliva flowing from his mouth coated the wound perfectly and began to seep inside. The moment the beast’s saliva touched her bloodstream, the burning pain vanished as if it had never existed. Powerful anti-inflammatory agents and unknown sedative compounds that triggered endorphins rapidly numbed her nervous system, replacing agony with a drug-like, euphoric haze.
“Huu… Aah…” Instead of a cry of pain, a strangely sweet moan slipped from Eunha’s lips. In the midst of that tingling sensation of flesh knitting itself back together, she felt with painful clarity just how perfectly she had been tamed by this beast. When she bled, the beast licked her clean. The pain disappeared, and in its place his bodily fluids soaked into her, repainting her flesh as his. In this hellish world, it was the only salvation permitted to her.
Eunha did not pull away from the feeling of that coarse tongue lovingly caressing her finger. Instead she willingly offered her trembling fingertip deeper into the beast’s hot mouth, drowning in the bizarre comfort it brought.
Slurp. Lick. Smack. Once he confirmed the bleeding had stopped and the wound was regenerating, Taeo withdrew his tongue and stepped back. Eunha flexed her fingers, now slick and glistening with saliva. The pain was gone. The puncture had healed without a trace.
“Thank you… I’ll try again.”
The blind female offered a submissive little smile and once more groped across the floor for the cold needle. The sewing continued all night long. Overlapping thick comforters, stitching them together with tough nylon thread to create a single enormous surface—it was grueling labor. A blind woman working only by touch inevitably lost direction.
Thrust! “Nngh!” The needle sank into the pad of her thumb.
Slurp. Sluuurp. Lick. Without fail the beast returned to lap up the fresh blood.
Thrust! “Hngh…”
Lick. Slurp.
Needle, blood, healing tongue. Dozens of punctures, dozens of licks. By the end, all ten of Eunha’s fingers were completely coated in Taeo’s sticky saliva, reeking of potent male pheromones. In the endless cycle of pain and healing, she gradually forgot to fear the needle. Instead, every time she was wounded she felt a spine-tingling, sweet dependency on the beast’s blind possessiveness and protective instinct. She was willingly falling further into corruption.
---
How many days had she repeated that brutal labor?
At last the endless work was finished.
“Haa… It’s done, Taeo. I finished it…”
Eunha murmured in an exhausted voice and dropped the needle to the floor. Before her lay three thick goose-down comforters and several blankets stitched together with almost ridiculous durability, reborn as a single three-meter-wide “monster’s nest” or “shared comforter.” The colossal bundle that must have weighed dozens of kilograms was lifted with trembling arms and draped like a tent over the layered mats.
With the last of her strength she announced, “Ta-da! Taeo, our winter home is complete! Let’s get inside.”
A deep rumble answered. Recognizing the work was finished, Taeo approached with heavy steps and unhesitatingly shoved his massive head into the gap beneath the enormous comforter she held open.
Slide. Flutter. Thump. Ninety kilograms of solid mass burrowed inside and curled up on the floor. In seconds the interior of the giant nest began to fill with the beast’s scorching body heat.
Eunha crawled after him without hesitation, slipping her body into the mouth of the enormous comforter he had created. Another darkness within darkness. Inside the light-proof nest, the world was a perfect tropical night—nothing like the murderous cold outside.
“Haaa… It’s warm…”
She burrowed toward his belly, pushing her frozen bare legs and toes deep into the dense, silky undercoat. The mutated wolf’s forty-degree body heat slowly melted her skin and made it fluffy again. Blood vessels dilated; hot blood began circulating through her body once more. Drunk on the relief of thawing, Eunha unconsciously wrapped both arms around the giant torso that surrounded her and stroked it.
But the texture beneath her fingertips felt… strange.
Huh…?
The muscles she had felt when he pinned her down and took her by force days ago had already been beyond human comprehension. Yet now the breadth of his back—too wide for her slender arms to encircle—and the trapezius muscles rising like hundreds of steel cables twisted together were unmistakably different. Startled, she ran her palms carefully along his ribcage and chest. It wasn’t just thicker fur. The density and volume of the muscle beneath the skin had exploded beyond anything she remembered. Rock-hard pectorals and forelegs thick as tree trunks pushed back against her delicate touch with undeniable weight.
“Taeo…”
She pressed her nose into the fur at the nape of his neck and murmured in a dazed voice. “Is it because it’s winter and your coat grew in…? Or did you gain weight? You… you seem so much bigger.”
To the blind female’s innocent question, the beast in the darkness answered only by exhaling a deep, heavy breath across the crown of her head.
Huuuufffff.
Her intuition was correct. This was no simple shedding or weight gain. In the ruined ecosystem, in the brutal cold of an apocalypse ruled by unimaginably mutated insects and vanishing food sources, the mutated predator’s genes were evolving at a frantic pace. The goal: to perfectly protect and possess his fragile, blind mate. The ninety-kilogram body had already surpassed one hundred kilograms, continuously tearing and expanding its muscle fibers. Bones widened, fascia ruptured and regenerated, relentlessly increasing the physical size of the apex predator.
Eunha had no idea how much more terrifyingly huge the massive bone pillar she would have to accept every day would become, or how brutally it would crush her insides. She simply buried her face against the living fortress of muscle that surrounded her and tightened her thin arms around the beast’s thick waist.
“It’s cold… Keep holding me. Protect me, Taeo…”
The larger the monster grew, the greater the pain of being crushed and torn would become. But at the same time it was absolute proof of survival—the fortress had grown so impregnable that no horror from the outside world would dare approach this nest. Eunha rubbed her cheek against the thick chest fur and offered the deepest, warmest smile at her grotesque fate: complete reduction to the mate of this terrible, perfect predator.
In the center of a freezing warehouse that sliced flesh with cold, inside the giant beast’s burning nest, her last remnants of reason slowly melted away, perfectly submitting at last.
