The Symbiosis of the Heteromorph and the Opening of a New Hell
On the cold dispensing counter of the ruined pharmacy, where the air vibrated with the metallic tang of blood and sharp chemical fumes, Eunha gently lowered the beast's massive forepaw. She pressed her forehead against the stiff black fur of his chest, drawing ragged breaths as the antibiotics and anesthetic ointment seeped into her torn flesh. The burning fever slowly ebbed, cooled by the miraculous properties of the medicine she had applied to the very monster that had shattered her.
A strange, twisted sense of triumph bloomed within her ruined psyche. By treating the wounds of the creature that had broken her, she had forged a new anchor for survival in the wreckage of her mind. This overwhelming ninety-kilogram predator was no longer merely the beast that violated her. In this hellish world, he had become her sole shield, her only means of transport, and the perfect symbiotic partner.
"Haah... You're incredibly smart, aren't you..." Eunha murmured unconsciously, her fingers lightly stroking the thick bridge of his snout. Through her blind fingertips she traced the massive, three-dimensional structure of his skull. His intelligence far surpassed that of any ordinary dog. He read human intent with eerie precision and willingly entrusted his injuries to her care.
It suddenly struck her that she had shared her body and even her very insides with this enormous male, yet she had never given him a name.
"You're... pitch-black like a crow, and so very clever... Taeo. What do you think? Taeo."
Her lips trembled as she spoke the name aloud. Taeo. It came from the deepest well of her childhood memories—the name of the large, loyal black dog that had been tied up in her maternal grandmother's yard.
But the instant the word left her mouth—
A low, thunderous growl rumbled from the depths of the beast's throat.
The gentle demeanor of moments before vanished, replaced by a murderous vibration that spoke of pure, explosive rage. This was no mere threat. It was the fury of a male whose very identity and dignity had been insulted.
A chill raced across Eunha's pale throat. The beast's hot breath surged against her face, and the terrifying scrape of his razor-sharp fangs filled her ears.
"Eek...! N-no! I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I was wrong!"
She flailed both hands in panic, pale as death, begging for forgiveness. Could this monster actually understand human speech? Was he angry because he knew she had given him a dog's name? Or was it mere coincidence?
The blind female never once imagined the horrifying truth—that this colossal heteromorphic mutant had once been a human man named Taeo in the civilized world before its collapse.
Overwhelmed by terror at having displeased him, she could only cling desperately to his thick foreleg and shake.
"I'm sorry... Please don't be angry... I'll call you something else..."
As cold sweat beaded on her skin and she pleaded, Taeo snorted in clear dissatisfaction and turned his head away. Yet he did not bite her or punish her. He had already learned, bone-deep, just how valuable this blind female's pharmaceutical knowledge was to his survival—and how perfectly the pheromones she emitted satisfied his primal male instincts.
The tense atmosphere pressed down on the pharmacy like a physical weight.
Then it began.
Bzzzzzzzz. Whiiiiiiiir.
Click-clack. Skitter-scraaape.
Chilling vibrations and the ominous scrape of colliding carapaces echoed from somewhere beyond the shattered glass doors, out in the corridor.
Eunha's thin shoulders stiffened. It was not the wind, nor the sound of collapsing masonry. It was the high-frequency slicing of thousands of wings cutting through air, accompanied by the grotesque movement of jointed legs tearing at the corpses littering the floor.
"W-what is that sound...?"
She clutched Taeo's fur and held her breath. Her hypersensitive nose, cutting through the hospital's stench of death and blood, caught a new odor—something entirely different. A sour, stinging scent of acidic secretions. A bizarre, almost inorganic musk like ancient dust and mud given hideous life.
Taeo wrinkled his snout and inhaled deeply, his blood-red eyes locking onto the pharmacy entrance with lethal focus. His muscles swelled until they looked ready to burst. The stiff fur along his spine bristled like iron needles. He was in perfect battle stance. The overwhelming killing intent of a predator sensing rivals in his territory flooded the room.
Skitter-skitter. Scraaape.
At last the owners of that revolting stench revealed themselves.
A swarm of mutated cockroaches poured in—some the size of a grown man's forearm, others as large as small dogs. These were the advance scouts of the giant insects that had begun devouring the empty world at terrifying speed after the Gravity Reversal. Their antennae had followed the scent of pooled blood and Eunha's body through the ruined hospital.
Hiiiiisssss!
The largest one at the front reared up, spiny legs raised, preparing to spray a jet of corrosive acid straight at Eunha.
BOOOOM!
Taeo's ninety-kilogram body launched like a cannonball. Marble shattered beneath him as the enormous black shadow crashed into the center of the swarm.
CRUNCH. Riiiiiiip!
His massive jaws clamped down on the largest cockroach's armored back. The carapace that could have deflected bullets crumbled like a stale cracker between his merciless teeth.
Splat! Riiiiip!
The insect's body split in half. Thick, sour green fluid exploded outward in every direction.
The panicked swarm surged toward him, but the difference in mass was absolute. Each time his heavy forepaws swept down—
THUD. THUD. CRUNCH!
—the roaches were flattened like burst balloons, spraying green ichor across the floor. His fangs tore through legs and heads with savage efficiency. The sound of his rough breathing, the insects' death screams, and the wet cracking of carapaces filled the dispensary.
"Eek...! Haah... huff... This world really is..."
Eunha curled beneath the counter, covering her ears, body trembling. The cold, acidic bug fluid splattering across her face and skin made her retch violently.
"Urk! Blech!"
Taeo had survived until now on scraps of human corpses and small animals. But Eunha, dehydrated and weakened by fever and the aftereffects of their brutal mating, had reached her limit. Remaining here meant not only infection but becoming endless prey for the swarming insects.
The battle ended in moments. More than twenty giant cockroaches lay in ruined pieces across the floor, their green fluids mixing with the existing lake of blood to create a stomach-turning stench.
Ptoo. Plop.
Taeo spat the severed head from his jaws, shook the slime from his muzzle, and padded back to her.
"We have to leave... It's not safe here anymore. Please... don't abandon me..."
Eunha whispered, using the counter to pull herself upright. The acidic secretions were still sizzling as they ate into the marble.
In the darkness her hands moved with desperate speed. She gathered every compression bandage she could find, the tough fabric ties from the doctors' coats, and every rubber IV tube she could reach. Glass shards sliced her fingertips, drawing beads of blood, but she clenched her teeth and ignored the pain.
She had to survive. Even if it meant riding on the back of this monster, she would escape this hellish womb.
Feeling along his thick neck and chest, Eunha began weaving a crude but sturdy harness from the collected materials. She crossed the straps between his forelegs, knotted them securely behind his nape, then pressed her body against the center and bound her waist tightly to his broad back with the remaining bandages.
Her pale, naked body—completely bare—merged with the coarse black mountain of fur, creating the grotesque silhouette of a rider fused to her mount.
"Let's go..."
Eunha buried her face in the fur of his neck, breathing hard. Her slender thighs clenched firmly around his rib muscles. His body heat and powerful heartbeat pulsed directly against her bare skin.
A low, approving growl vibrated through his chest.
Confirming the bindings, Taeo rose, powerful muscles coiling beneath her. His crimson eyes gleamed toward the darkened hospital lobby beyond the pharmacy doors.
THUD. THUD.
KWAAAAAAAANG!
His hind legs shattered the floor as he exploded forward. The massive beast tore through the air, hurling himself at the sealed main entrance. Reinforced glass erupted into a storm of glittering shards.
Through the rain of broken glass, the ninety-kilogram giant wolf and the blind female lashed to his back burst past the hospital threshold and into the outside world.
The night air that engulfed them was brutally cold and dry. Every light in the city had died. Only moonlight, tinged blood-red, outlined the crumpled cars, the scattered remains of burst corpses, and the silhouettes of towering ruined buildings. Between the wreckage, the grotesque shapes of giant insects crawled with skin-crawling scrapes of chitin.
A perfect hell without humanity. A destroyed ecosystem where morality, law, and the fragile pretense of human intellect had all become nothing more than insect fodder.
The blind woman's nightmarish tale of survival—her complete fall into the role of perfect female, life and hygiene now utterly controlled by the predator who had taken her—had only just raised its crimson curtain.
