The Desperate Broadcast
Our proud South Korean army, our valiant defenders, was in full retreat.
Soldiers dashed in every direction, fleeing in panic. Some piled into jeeps, others climbed onto tanks, and some even tried to run on foot.
Running was the only sensible choice. The radio had just announced that the entire high command had been wiped out.
From the shattered, dying radio on the ground, a solemn voice echoed with grim resolve.
"Citizens of the Republic. I am Lee Do-hyun, head of the Disaster Management Headquarters of the Republic of Korea. And this broadcast will be the final official broadcast of the government."
"Due to the deliberate [CHEIK!] strikes of the [CHIJIJIK].... [CHEIK!]"
"The Republic of Korea Armed Forces have no capacity left to resist, and the [CHIJI-ZHIK] have already fled overseas."
"Because of political pressure and the well-being of families, I sincerely apologize that telling the citizens the truth came too late."
"[CHIJIK!] I will remain here and [CHIJIJI-ZHIJIK!] with you."
The upper echelons had abandoned the post in a moment of utter despair.
Yet somewhere out there, a madman still dared to fight the monsters.
From the distant north, a thunderous roar echoed like the judgment of the end of the world.
A colossal dragon, longer than a hundred meters, streaked toward the army as if declaring the apocalypse.
Soldiers who had been sprinting suddenly spun around in horror. Death loomed just ahead.
"I don't want to die! I'm just an ordinary citizen!"
Even if they survived the dragon, there was no hope left.
Under the very ground where the beast had taken off, thousands of monster hordes surged forward, chasing them.
South Korea was finished. As Lee Do-hyun had said.
It was a fact no one could doubt.
Suddenly, a blinding beam of light sliced the sky and cleaved the dragon in two.
The split carcass of the dragon plummeted to the ground with a thunderous crash.
"A gate! It's a gate!"
"What's left after that?!"
From the gate emerged a massive space warship, its body stretching for kilometers.
Countless ports opened, and fighter jets and two-legged combat robots poured out.
In the blink of an eye, they annihilated the entire monster army.
It had happened so fast.
The army hadn't even dreamed of approaching a warship. The vessel vanished back into the gate moments later.
For a long time afterward, no one ever learned its true identity.
