I Became a Glutton (2)
I ate my fill, my absolute fill. I lost count of how many eggs I scarfed down—got to ten or something and just blanked out. That Ushabti bastard, he cooked the yolks just right, soft-boiled without a hint of dryness. Perfection.
Right in front of me, the girls. Yeonsu and Hyeyoon. Sitting there in nothing but my oversized t-shirts and panties, legs splayed wide in lotus position, chowing down like champs. The shirts were baggy on their smaller frames, so every time they shifted, I caught glimpses of panties and crotch. It was driving me insane. Plump yet flat, the slit softly parting and closing with each movement...
...But before that, I had work to do. My eyes felt like they were shooting flames, so I held back and stood up.
"Yeonsu, Hyeyoon. Sechem's gonna check you over, make sure you're good. Tell her if anything hurts—she can fix it."
"Huh? God, where you going?"
"To work."
Gotta get it done! Warrior and mage at full charge. Time to farm some coins!
I waved at Sechem and headed to the bedroom, where Ushabti was already stripping the soiled sheets. Housework? Basically zero effort on my part. The girls eat, rest, bathe, play board games, then cuddle up to me—and repeat. Honestly, that's the only thing I want from them. Have fun, then come to me.
Anyway. All I gotta do is rake in the coins. Time to hunt.
Zombies!
Mage first. Gotta clean up San-e-deul Apartment Complex.
I unleashed a barrage of Three Sand Claws, but four buildings still aren't cleared. They seemed to track nearby zombies, so I hammered our building a few times. After four or five blasts, they started scattering past it front and back, so I figured ours was done. Moved to the far end, D Building, and dumped everything left. Probably need another day to finish D.
Were there really this many humans? Nah. My guess: zombies from outside swarming into the apartments. Parking lot was crawling with them—couldn't just be locals.
Anyway, that's 360 coins secured. Mage retired. For real. Took less than five minutes.
Next, warrior. Straight to Gache-dong shopping street at storm speed. Hurry, hurry! Burn through stamina, spirit, whatever—end it fast! Fuck, I'm fully recovered, and the girls are waiting!
Early lunch? Around 11:40 maybe? Call it morning if you want. For me, it's lunch. My main body's already rumbling with hunger. Well, not really feeling it yet, but lying in the stone coffin, I knew I'd need to eat soon. Head's a mess right now.
Food! Girls! Bathroom! Those three colliding in my skull like strongmen. Can't think of anything but "not the time for zombies."
I'm going nuts, but Sechem said it'd pass in a day. Just endure one day.
So. Raiding every building on the shopping street at breakneck speed. Too lazy for stairs—climbed walls, smashed windows, slashed every zombie in sight on the curved paths, healed, repeat. About 100 per building. Not enough. Need face-fish. No larvae, so face-fish it is! And it's taking too damn long! One by one with the sword? Fuck that!
Ah! Left piles of sand everywhere per floor, smashed through the top-floor window—crash!—landed on the ground. Rolled a few times, lost 15 stamina, but who cares about 15 stamina—this is faster.
From the convenience store where I met Yeonsu and Hyeyoon, all the buildings lined up along the road. Smash! Crash! Blitzing them one by one.
Then—crash!—landed, rolled twice, stamina down 10 this time. Jumped up.
And there—a group of people spotted me and came rushing over.
"God! Imotep!"
"Imotep!"
...Oh, shit. Those skeletal aunties and uncles, bone-dry. I know those faces. Coughing auntie's collection team.
Ah... of all times.
Aaaaah... can't just pretend I didn't see them. I'm busy. Girls waiting. Bathroom, food, busy!
"Huff, huff."
The aunties and uncles caught their breath. I was geared for the building across the street, so no weapon drawn. Just standing there.
"Fancy meeting again. Everyone doing okay?"
As kindly as possible. I'm a god. Gods pity humans. Fuck...!
Kindly...!
"G-God! Please, help us!"
Skeletal uncle, desperate as hell.
"What's wrong? Talk to me."
Leader auntie stepped up.
"Remember the coughing woman? The one you healed."
"Yeah, I do."
"Her daughter's really sick. Really bad. Might die."
...Die?
Skeletal uncle chimed in.
"Worsened fast yesterday—coughing up everything, hasn't eaten, wasting away. Can't even open her eyes now. Thought she was gone, but barely breathing."
"Unconscious?"
"Yes, God."
Leader auntie again.
"That bitch Daemo, the cruel one, said dump the useless kid somewhere. We searched for you all day yesterday, no luck."
"...Dump her?"
"Yeah. Says she's just eating food without moving."
That's harsh.
"So, coughing auntie and her daughter—where are they now?"
Leader auntie gestured urgently that way.
"Brought her to the garage on our way out collecting today. Took turns carrying her, but we're so weak... whew."
"Hmm..."
Garage. Spirit left: 3. Hunt's done anyway. Snacks at home are out, was gonna grab some.
"Alright, let's go."
"Yes, God!"
"Thank you, God!"
Grabbed the garage shutter with one hand—rattle!—yanked it up. The skeletons were all careful; amateurs.
Inside: pitch black, no candles. In the center, a woman lay, with coughing auntie sadly stroking her daughter's head beside her.
"...Too late? She dead?"
That vibe.
Coughing auntie wiped tears.
"Soon... my girl can't hold on. God, to see you again..."
Couldn't finish.
Straight to the girl, knelt on one knee, checked her face.
Whoa. Face pale as a ghost. Dark spots pitch-black, skin ghostly white. Cartoon-level bad. Critical.
"Ma'at's Rest."
I whispered. Hand glowed.
She's barely breathing. Faint gurgles, looks dead already.
Hand to forehead. Ma'at's light flowed through my hand to her head, neck, rippling down her body like a wave.
"...Don't die. Open your eyes. Can you?"
No movement. But.
Gurgles stopped. Chest rose and fell evenly. Breathing properly. Color slowly returned to the ashen face.
The charcoal girl slowly opened her eyes. Blinking at the ceiling, mom, then me. Staring at me.
"...G-God...?"
"Yeah."
"M-Mom... told me... wanted to see you... once..."
"Save it. Nod yes/no. Pain better? Okay?"
Faint nod.
"Breathing?"
Nod nod.
No more coughs. Illness cured. But the weakened body needs food and rest. She's too frail.
I looked up.
"First off—"
"Ughhh—"
Zombies. Skeletons flinched, yelling.
"Z-Zombies!"
"Zombies incoming!"
"Weapons up!"
Haa... Stood, shoved uncles and aunties aside.
"No panic."
Grabbed air, summoned spear. Casually stabbed the approaching zombies. Pff, shff—sand piles crumbling.
Quite a few? Shutter noise drew them.
"Wait here."
Outside: alley crawling with zombies. Narrow, jammed together.
Spear in one hand, curved sword in the other. Stabbed and slashed both sides, turning them all to sand heaps.
Took a while, fuck. Healed once. Roughly 70 in this alley.
No more coming. Confirmed from garage roof.
Back inside.
"Thank you, God!"
"As expected...!"
"We're safe because of God!"
"Yeah, yeah. Anyway."
Still-lying girl. Color's back a bit. But she's skeletal too.
To coughing auntie.
"She needs good food and safe rest to recover."
"...Yes. But we... Daemo—"
"Forget Daemo. What now? Go back?"
Aunties/uncles watching.
"Or come with me?"
Coughing auntie stared. Eyes wide.
"M-My daughter—"
"You too."
"M-Me... too...?"
"Think Daemo won't notice your daughter left with me? I've shown up here multiple times. What happens to you? Let you go? Or torture you for info on her or me?"
"........"
"What'll it be?"
Daughter grabbed mom's hand. Weakly nodded.
Auntie wiped eyes, nodded back.
I said,
"You know what that means?"
Coughing auntie. Daughter. Both looked at me.
No shakes, no nods. Good enough.
Turned, sat.
"Bed girl. Piggyback on me. We'll hit the convenience store on the way."
Skeletons rushed, lifted daughter onto my back.
Uncle said,
"This is... too good. G-God."
"Hm?"
"C-Could we... too...?"
There it is. All coming.
Stern here. Deepened voice.
"Actually, I'm not taking followers now. But these two are a special case."
"Th-Then when... do you take followers...?"
Ugh, damn.
"No promises. But if I do, you'll hear first."
Skeletons: bit disappointed, bit hopeful.
"To the convenience store."
Walked; they followed in a herd.
