Not all gallery users are the same level of mage even if they're all archmages. There are even higher realms above that. High reps are the ones who broke through those conditions.

Academy exams usually fall into set types. Mostly two kinds: combat and written.
Combat's straightforward—1v1 vs other examinees, survival free-for-all, or summon a beast and survive.
Written's casting magic for power tests or solving given formulas. Comes with pen-and-paper too.
They usually measure mana capacity too, but skip that^^ Even at 100, ace the rest and you scrape by.
Now for the real deal—magic. You can feel mana, right? If not, sucks but gg. But no one's like that, so don't worry.
